* CMake: Make most target symbols hidden by defaultTom Stellard2020-01-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: For builds with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF this change makes all symbols in the target specific libraries hidden by default. A new macro called LLVM_EXTERNAL_VISIBILITY has been added to mark symbols in these libraries public, which is mainly needed for the definitions of the LLVMInitialize* functions. This patch reduces the number of public symbols in libLLVM.so by about 25%. This should improve load times for the dynamic library and also make abi checker tools, like abidiff require less memory when analyzing libLLVM.so One side-effect of this change is that for builds with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON some unittests that access symbols that are no longer public will need to be statically linked. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This file lists every pass in LLVM, and is included by Pass.h, which is very popular. Every time we add, remove, or rename a pass in LLVM, it caused lots of recompilation. I found this fact by looking at this table, which is sorted by the number of times a file was changed over the last 100,000 git commits multiplied by the number of object files that depend on it in the current checkout: recompiles touches affected_files header 342380 95 3604 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/STLExtras.h 314730 234 1345 llvm/include/llvm/InitializePasses.h 307036 118 2602 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/APInt.h 213049 59 3611 llvm/include/llvm/Support/MathExtras.h 170422 47 3626 llvm/include/llvm/Support/Compiler.h 162225 45 3605 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/Optional.h 158319 63 2513 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/Triple.h 140322 39 3598 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/StringRef.h 137647 59 2333 llvm/include/llvm/Support/Error.h 131619 73 1803 llvm/include/llvm/Support/FileSystem.h Before this change, touching InitializePasses.h would cause 1345 files to recompile. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This reverts r362990 (git commit 374571301dc8e9bc9fdd1d70f86015de198673bd) This was causing linker warnings on Darwin: ld: warning: direct access in function 'llvm::initializeEvexToVexInstPassPass(llvm::PassRegistry&)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMX86CodeGen.a(X86EvexToVex.cpp.o)' to global weak symbol 'void std::__1::__call_once_proxy<std::__1::tuple<void* (&)(llvm::PassRegistry&), std::__1::reference_wrapper<llvm::PassRegistry>&&> >(void*)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMCore.a(Verifier.cpp.o)' means the weak symbol cannot be overridden at runtime. This was likely caused by different translation units being compiled with different visibility settings. llvm-svn: 363028

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | copy the subtarget from the MachineFunction instead of recalculating it. Summary: The MachineFunction should have been created with the correct subtarget. As long as there is no way to change it, MipsTargetMachine can just capture it directly from the MachineFunction without calling getSubtargetImpl again. While there, const correct the Subtarget pointer to avoid a const_cast. I believe the Mips16Subtarget and NoMips16Subtarget members are never used, but I'll leave there removal for a separate patch. Because CodeGen can't depend on GlobalISel, we need a way to encapsulate the CSE configs that can be passed between TargetPassConfig and the targets' custom pass configs. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | MipsLongBranchPass and MipsHazardSchedule passes are joined to one pass because of mutual conflict. * (Re-landing) Expose a TargetMachine::getTargetTransformInfo functionSanjoy Das2017-12-221-11/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Re-land r321234. It had to be reverted because it broke the shared library build. The shared library build broke because there was a missing LLVMBuild dependency from lib/Passes (which calls TargetMachine::getTargetIRAnalysis) to lib/Target. As far as I can tell, this problem was always there but was somehow masked before (perhaps because TargetMachine::getTargetIRAnalysis was a virtual function). Original commit message: This makes the TargetMachine interface a bit simpler. We still need the std::function in TargetIRAnalysis to avoid having to add a dependency from Analysis to Target. See discussion: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-December/119749.html I avoided adding all of the backend owners to this review since the change is simple, but let me know if you feel differently about this. * Delete Default and JITDefault code modelsRafael Espindola2017-08-031-11/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | IMHO it is an antipattern to have a enum value that is Default. At any given piece of code it is not clear if we have to handle Default or if has already been mapped to a concrete value. In this case in particular, only the target can do the mapping and it is nice to make sure it is always done. This deletes the two default enum values of CodeModel and uses an explicit Optional<CodeModel> when it is possible that it is unspecified. llvm-svn: 309911
* Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....Chandler Carruth2017-06-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days. I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately) or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that I didn't want to disturb in this patch. This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format over your #include lines in the files. Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again). llvm-svn: 304787

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This provides a new way to access the TargetMachine through TargetPassConfig, as a dependency. The patterns replaced here are: * Passes handling a null TargetMachine call `getAnalysisIfAvailable<TargetPassConfig>`. * Passes not handling a null TargetMachine `addRequired<TargetPassConfig>` and call `getAnalysis<TargetPassConfig>`. * MachineFunctionPasses now use MF.getTarget(). * Remove all the TargetMachine constructors. * Remove INITIALIZE_TM_PASS. This fixes a crash when running `llc -start-before prologepilog`. PEI needs StackProtector, which gets constructed without a TargetMachine by the pass manager. * [mips] SelectionDAGISel subclasses now follow the optimization level.Daniel Sanders2016-07-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: It was recently discovered that, for Mips's SelectionDAGISel subclasses, all optimization levels caused SelectionDAGISel to behave like -O2. This change adds the necessary plumbing to initialize the optimization level. * Delete Reloc::Default.Rafael Espindola2016-05-181-5/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | Having an enum member named Default is quite confusing: Is it distinct from the others? This patch removes that member and instead uses Optional<Reloc> in places where we have a user input that still hasn't been maped to the default value, which is now clear has no be one of the remaining 3 options. llvm-svn: 269988
* CodeGen: Move TargetPassConfig from Passes.h to an own header; NFCMatthias Braun2016-05-101-0/+1
| | | | | | | | Many files include Passes.h but only a fraction needs to know about the TargetPassConfig class. Move it into an own header. Also rename Passes.cpp to TargetPassConfig.cpp while we are at it. llvm-svn: 269011
