* Add a "nop filler" pass to SPU.Kalle Raiskila2011-01-111-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Filling no-ops is done just before emitting of assembly, when the instruction stream is final. No-ops are inserted to align the instructions so the dual-issue of the pipeline is utilized. This speeds up generated code with a minimum of 1% on a select set of algorithms. This pass may be redundant if the instruction scheduler and all subsequent passes that modify the instruction stream (prolog+epilog inserter, register scavenger, are there others?) are made aware of the instruction alignments. llvm-svn: 123226

| | | | | | | | "the bigstack patch for SPU, with testcase. It is essentially the patch committed as 97091, and reverted as 97099, but with the following additions: -in vararg handling, registers are marked to be live, to not confuse the register scavenger -function prologue and epilogue are not emitted, if the stack size is 16. 16 means it is empty - there is only the register scavenger emergency spill slot, which is not used as there is no stack." llvm-svn: 99819

* Large stack frame patch for the CellSPU: handle stack frames that exceed 8176Scott Michel2010-02-251-3/+64
| | | | | | | | | | | | | (511*16) bytes register displacement (D-form). NOTE: This is a potential headache, given the SPU's local core limitations, allowing the software developer to commit stack overrun suicide unknowingly. Also, large SPU stack frames will cause code size explosion. But, one presumes that the software developer knows what they're doing... Contributed by Kalle.Raiskila@nokia.com, edited slightly before commit. llvm-svn: 97091

| | | | | | | | | | | | Massive check in. This changes the "-fast" flag to "-O#" in llc. If you want to use the old behavior, the flag is -O0. This change allows for finer-grained control over which optimizations are run at different -O levels. Most of this work was pretty mechanical. The majority of the fixes came from verifying that a "fast" variable wasn't used anymore. The JIT still uses a "Fast" flag. I'll change the JIT with a follow-up patch. llvm-svn: 70343

* Use template to distinguish between function variants.Duncan Sands2008-10-081-5/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | GCC 4.4.0 gives an error on the "int" declaration for example saying that it has already been declared (using the "short" one). Using templates here allow the compiler to distinguish between the function to choose. Also, "llvm/Support/DataTypes.h" was not included, leading to error messages about not knowing "uint32_t" for example. Patch by Samuel Tardieu. llvm-svn: 57292
