* Emit smaller exception tables for non-SJLJ mode.Rafael Espindola2018-02-091-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | * Use uleb128 for code offsets in the LSDA call site table. * Omit the TTBase offset if the type table is empty. This change can reduce the size of the DWARF/Itanium LSDA by about half. Patch by Ryan Prichard! llvm-svn: 324750
* Use assembler expressions to lay out the EH LSDA.Rafael Espindola2018-02-091-2/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rely on the assembler to finalize the layout of the DWARF/Itanium exception-handling LSDA. Rather than calculate the exact size of each thing in the LSDA, use assembler directives: To emit the offset to the TTBase label: .uleb128 .Lttbase0-.Lttbaseref0 .Lttbaseref0: To emit the size of the call site table: .uleb128 .Lcst_end0-.Lcst_begin0 .Lcst_begin0: ... call site table entries ... .Lcst_end0: To align the type info table: ... action table ... .balign 4 .long _ZTIi .long _ZTIl .Lttbase0: Using assembler directives simplifies the compiler and allows switching the encoding of offsets in the call site table from udata4 to uleb128 for a large code size savings. (This commit does not change the encoding.) The combination of the uleb128 followed by a balign creates an unfortunate dependency cycle that the assembler must sometimes resolve either by padding an LEB or by inserting zero padding before the type table. See PR35809 or GNU as bug 4029. Patch by Ryan Prichard! llvm-svn: 324749
* Move the personality function from LandingPadInst to FunctionDavid Majnemer2015-06-171-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The personality routine currently lives in the LandingPadInst. This isn't desirable because: - All LandingPadInsts in the same function must have the same personality routine. This means that each LandingPadInst beyond the first has an operand which produces no additional information. - There is ongoing work to introduce EH IR constructs other than LandingPadInst. Moving the personality routine off of any one particular Instruction and onto the parent function seems a lot better than have N different places a personality function can sneak onto an exceptional function. A similar migration script can be used to update test cases, though a few more test case improvements/changes were required this time around: (r229269-r229278) import fileinput import sys import re pat = re.compile(r"((?:=|:|^)\s*load (?:atomic )?(?:volatile )?(.*?))(| addrspace\(\d+\) *)\*($| *(?:%|@|null|undef|blockaddress|getelementptr|addrspacecast|bitcast|inttoptr|\[\[[a-zA-Z]|\{\{).*$)") for line in sys.stdin: sys.stdout.write(re.sub(pat, r"\1, \2\3*\4", line)) Reviewers: rafael, dexonsmith, grosser Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D7649 llvm-svn: 230794
* Centralize handling of the eh_begin and eh_end labels.Rafael Espindola2015-02-271-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | This removes a bit of duplicated code and more importantly, remembers the labels so that they don't need to be looked up by name. This in turn allows for any name to be used and avoids a crash if the name we wanted was already taken. llvm-svn: 230772

* EH: Prune unreachable resume instructions during Dwarf EH preparationReid Kleckner2015-02-201-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Today a simple function that only catches exceptions and doesn't run destructor cleanups ends up containing a dead call to _Unwind_Resume (PR20300). We can't remove these dead resume instructions during normal optimization because inlining might introduce additional landingpads that do have cleanups to run. Instead we can do this during EH preparation, which is guaranteed to run after inlining. Fixes PR20300. Reviewers: majnemer Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D7744 llvm-svn: 229944
* Fix a bit of confusion about .set and produce more readable assembly.Rafael Espindola2014-10-211-10/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Every target we support has support for assembly that looks like a = b - c .long a What is special about MachO is that the above combination suppresses the production of a relocation. With this change we avoid producing the intermediary labels when they don't add any value. llvm-svn: 220256
* XCore target: fix const section handlingRobert Lytton2014-02-111-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Xcore target ABI requires const data that is externally visible to be handled differently if it has C-language linkage rather than C++ language linkage. Clang now emits ".cp.rodata" section information. All other externally visible constant data will be placed in the DP section. llvm-svn: 201144
