* Don't conditionalize Neon instructions, even in IT blocks.Kristof Beyls2017-06-221-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This has been deprecated since ARMARM v7-AR, release C.b, published back in 2012. This also removes test/CodeGen/Thumb2/ifcvt-neon.ll that originally was introduced to check that conditionalization of Neon instructions did happen when generating Thumb2. However, the test had evolved and was no longer testing that. Rather than trying to adapt that test, this commit introduces test/CodeGen/Thumb2/ifcvt-neon-deprecated.mir, since we can now use the MIR framework to write nicer/more maintainable tests. llvm-svn: 305998
* Recommit 'Remove the restriction that MachineSinking is now stopped byWei Mi2016-08-121-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | "insert_subreg, subreg_to_reg, and reg_sequence" instructions' after adjusting some unittest checks. This is to solve PR28852. The restriction was added at 2010 to make better register coalescing. We assumed that it was not necessary any more. Testing results on x86 supported the assumption. We will look closely to any performance impact it will bring and will be prepared to help analyzing performance problem found on other architectures. * MachineSink: Fix and tweak critical-edge breaking heuristic. Will Dietz2013-10-141-6/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per original comment, the intention of this loop is to go ahead and break the critical edge (in order to sink this instruction) if there's reason to believe doing so might "unblock" the sinking of additional instructions that define registers used by this one. The idea is that if we have a few instructions to sink "together" breaking the edge might be worthwhile. This commit makes a few small changes to help better realize this goal: First, modify the loop to ignore registers defined by this instruction. We don't sink definitions of physical registers, and sinking an SSA definition isn't going to unblock an upstream instruction. Second, ignore uses of physical registers. Instructions that define physical registers are rejected for sinking, and so moving this one won't enable moving any defining instructions. As an added bonus, while virtual register use-def chains are generally small due to SSA goodness, iteration over the uses and definitions (used by hasOneNonDBGUse) for physical registers like EFLAGS can be rather expensive in practice. (This is the original reason for looking at this) Finally, to keep things simple continue to only consider this trick for registers that have a single use (via hasOneNonDBGUse), but to avoid spuriously breaking critical edges only do so if the definition resides in the same MBB and therefore this one directly blocks it from being sunk as well. If sinking them together is meant to be, let the iterative nature of this pass sink the definition into this block first. Update tests to accomodate this change, add new testcase where sinking avoids pipeline stalls. llvm-svn: 192608

* Not all targets have efficient ISel code generation for select instructions.Nadav Rotem2012-09-021-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | For example, the ARM target does not have efficient ISel handling for vector selects with scalar conditions. This patch adds a TLI hook which allows the different targets to report which selects are supported well and which selects should be converted to CF duting codegen prepare. llvm-svn: 163093

vector operands - scalarize the code. ARM is such a target because it does not support CMOV of vectors. To implement this efficientlyi, we broadcast the condition bit and use a sequence of NAND-OR to select between the two operands. This is the same sequence we use for targets that don't have vector BLENDs (like SSE2). rdar://12201387 llvm-svn: 162926
