* [AMDGPU] Divergence driven instruction selection. Part 1.Alexander Timofeev2018-09-211-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: This change is the first part of the AMDGPU target description change. The aim of it is the effective splitting the vector and scalar flows at the selection stage. Selection uses predicate functions based on the framework implemented earlier - https://reviews.llvm.org/D35267 Differential revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D52019 Reviewers: rampitec llvm-svn: 342719
* AMDGPU: Add pass to lower kernel arguments to loadsMatt Arsenault2018-06-261-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This replaces most argument uses with loads, but for now not all. The code in SelectionDAG for calling convention lowering is actively harmful for amdgpu_kernel. It attempts to split the argument types into register legal types, which results in low quality code for arbitary types. Since all kernel arguments are passed in memory, we just want the raw types. I've tried a couple of methods of mitigating this in SelectionDAG, but it's easier to just bypass this problem alltogether. It's possible to hack around the problem in the initial lowering, but the real problem is the DAG then expects to be able to use CopyToReg/CopyFromReg for uses of the arguments outside the block. Exposing the argument loads in the IR also has the advantage that the LoadStoreVectorizer can merge them. I'm not sure the best approach to dealing with the IR argument list is. The patch as-is just leaves the IR arguments in place, so all the existing code will still compute the same kernarg size and pointlessly lowers the arguments. Arguably the frontend should emit kernels with an empty argument list in the first place. Alternatively a dummy array could be inserted as a single argument just to reserve space. This does have some disadvantages. Local pointer kernel arguments can no longer have AssertZext placed on them as the equivalent !range metadata is not valid on pointer typed loads. This is mostly bad for SI which needs to know about the known bits in order to use the DS instruction offset, so in this case this is not done. More importantly, this skips noalias arguments since this pass does not yet convert this to the equivalent !alias.scope and !noalias metadata. Producing this metadata correctly seems to be tricky, although this logically is the same as inlining into a function which doesn't exist. Additionally, exposing these loads to the vectorizer may result in degraded aliasing information if a pointer load is merged with another argument load. I'm also not entirely sure this is preserving the current clover ABI, although I would greatly prefer if it would stop widening arguments and match the HSA ABI. As-is I think it is extending < 4-byte arguments to 4-bytes but doesn't align them to 4-bytes. llvm-svn: 335650

* AMDGPU: Cleanup subtarget featuresMatt Arsenault2017-08-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Try to avoid mutually exclusive features. Don't use a real default GPU, and use a fake "generic". The goal is to make it easier to see which set of features are incompatible between feature strings. Most of the test changes are due to random scheduling changes from not having a default fullspeed model. llvm-svn: 310258

* AMDGPU: Mark all unspecified CC functions in tests as amdgpu_kernelMatt Arsenault2017-03-211-11/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | Currently the default C calling convention functions are treated the same as compute kernels. Make this explicit so the default calling convention can be changed to a non-kernel. Converted with perl -pi -e 's/define void/define amdgpu_kernel void/' on the relevant test directories (and undoing in one place that actually wanted a non-kernel). llvm-svn: 298444

| | | | | | | | | | | This switches to the workaround that HSA defaults to for the mesa path. This should be applied to the 4.0 branch. Patch by Vedran Miletić <vedran@miletic.net> llvm-svn: 292982
* AMDGPU: Improve splitting 64-bit bit ops by constantsMatt Arsenault2016-09-141-2/+1

* AMDGPU/SI: Implement a custom MachineSchedStrategyTom Stellard2016-08-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: GCNSchedStrategy re-uses most of GenericScheduler, it's just uses a different method to compute the excess and critical register pressure limits. It's not enabled by default, to enable it you need to pass -misched=gcn to llc. * AMDGPU: Improve load/store of illegal types.Matt Arsenault2016-07-011-7/+6
| | | | | | | | | | There was a combine before to handle the simple copy case. Split this into handling loads and stores separately. We might want to change how this handles some of the vector extloads, since this can result in large code size increases. llvm-svn: 274394
* MachineScheduler: Fully compare top/bottom candidatesMatthias Braun2016-06-251-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | In bidirectional scheduling this gives more stable results than just comparing the "reason" fields of the top/bottom node because the reason field may be higher depending on what other nodes are in the queue. Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D19401 llvm-svn: 273755

* AMDGPU/SI: Enable lanemask tracking in mischedTom Stellard2016-03-301-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: This results in higher register usage, but should make it easier for the compiler to hide latency. This pass is a prerequisite for some more scheduler improvements, and I think the increase register usage with this patch is acceptable, because when combined with the scheduler improvements, the total register usage will decrease. shader-db stats: 2382 shaders in 478 tests Totals: SGPRS: 48672 -> 49088 (0.85 %) VGPRS: 34148 -> 34847 (2.05 %) Code Size: 1285816 -> 1289128 (0.26 %) bytes LDS: 28 -> 28 (0.00 %) blocks Scratch: 492544 -> 573440 (16.42 %) bytes per wave Max Waves: 6856 -> 6846 (-0.15 %) Wait states: 0 -> 0 (0.00 %) Depends on D18451 Reviewers: nhaehnle, arsenm Subscribers: arsenm, llvm-commits Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D18452 llvm-svn: 264876
* AMDGPU: fix overlapping copies in copyPhysRegNicolai Haehnle2015-12-191-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: When copying aggregate registers within the same register class, there may be an overlap between source and destination that forces us to do the copy backwards. Do the simplest possible thing that guarantees the correct order of moves when there are overlaps, and does whatever when there is no overlap. (The last part forces some trivial adjustments to test cases.) Together with r255906, this fixes a VM fault in Unreal Elemental Demo. While at it, change the generation of kill and def flags to something that looks more reasonable. This method is used very late during compilation, so it probably doesn't matter in practice, and to be honest, I don't know if this change is actually correct because the semantics in connection with aggregate registers vs. sub-registers are not clear to me. * AMDGPU: Reduce number of copies emittedMatt Arsenault2015-09-241-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of always inserting a copy in case the super register is itself a subregister, only extract to the super reg class if this is actually the case. This shouldn't really change codegen, but makes looking at the output of SIFixSGPRCopies easier to read. llvm-svn: 248467
