* CodeGen: Introduce a class for registersMatt Arsenault2019-06-242-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Avoids using a plain unsigned for registers throughoug codegen. Doesn't attempt to change every register use, just something a little more than the set needed to build after changing the return type of MachineOperand::getReg(). llvm-svn: 364191
* Revert CMake: Make most target symbols hidden by defaultTom Stellard2019-06-116-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This reverts r362990 (git commit 374571301dc8e9bc9fdd1d70f86015de198673bd) This was causing linker warnings on Darwin: ld: warning: direct access in function 'llvm::initializeEvexToVexInstPassPass(llvm::PassRegistry&)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMX86CodeGen.a(X86EvexToVex.cpp.o)' to global weak symbol 'void std::__1::__call_once_proxy<std::__1::tuple<void* (&)(llvm::PassRegistry&), std::__1::reference_wrapper<llvm::PassRegistry>&&> >(void*)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMCore.a(Verifier.cpp.o)' means the weak symbol cannot be overridden at runtime. This was likely caused by different translation units being compiled with different visibility settings. llvm-svn: 363028
* CMake: Make most target symbols hidden by defaultTom Stellard2019-06-106-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: For builds with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF this change makes all symbols in the target specific libraries hidden by default. A new macro called LLVM_EXTERNAL_VISIBILITY has been added to mark symbols in these libraries public, which is mainly needed for the definitions of the LLVMInitialize* functions. This patch reduces the number of public symbols in libLLVM.so by about 25%. This should improve load times for the dynamic library and also make abi checker tools, like abidiff require less memory when analyzing libLLVM.so One side-effect of this change is that for builds with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON some unittests that access symbols that are no longer public will need to be statically linked. Before and after public symbol counts (using gcc 8.2.1, ld.bfd 2.31.1): nm before/libLLVM-9svn.so | grep ' [A-Zuvw] ' | wc -l 36221 nm after/libLLVM-9svn.so | grep ' [A-Zuvw] ' | wc -l 26278 Reviewers: chandlerc, beanz, mgorny, rnk, hans Reviewed By: rnk, hans Subscribers: Jim, hiraditya, michaelplatings, chapuni, jholewinski, arsenm, dschuff, jyknight, dylanmckay, sdardis, nemanjai, jvesely, nhaehnle, javed.absar, sbc100, jgravelle-google, aheejin, kbarton, fedor.sergeev, asb, rbar, johnrusso, simoncook, apazos, sabuasal, niosHD, jrtc27, zzheng, edward-jones, mgrang, atanasyan, rogfer01, MartinMosbeck, brucehoult, the_o, PkmX, jocewei, kristina, jsji, llvm-commits Tags: #llvm Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D54439 llvm-svn: 362990

* [AsmPrinter] refactor to support %c w/ GlobalAddress'Nick Desaulniers2019-04-261-15/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: Targets like ARM, MSP430, PPC, and SystemZ have complex behavior when printing the address of a MachineOperand::MO_GlobalAddress. Move that handling into a new overriden method in each base class. A virtual method was added to the base class for handling the generic case. Refactors a few subclasses to support the target independent %a, %c, and %n. The patch also contains small cleanups for AVRAsmPrinter and SystemZAsmPrinter. It seems that NVPTXTargetLowering is possibly missing some logic to transform GlobalAddressSDNodes for TargetLowering::LowerAsmOperandForConstraint to handle with "i" extended inline assembly asm constraints. * [AsmPrinter] refactor to remove remove AsmVariant. NFCNick Desaulniers2019-04-101-6/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: The InlineAsm::AsmDialect is only required for X86; no architecture makes use of it and as such it gets passed around between arch-specific and general code while being unused for all architectures but X86. Since the AsmDialect is queried from a MachineInstr, which we also pass around, remove the additional AsmDialect parameter and query for it deep in the X86AsmPrinter only when needed/as late as possible. This refactor should help later planned refactors to AsmPrinter, as this difference in the X86AsmPrinter makes it harder to make AsmPrinter more generic. * Implementation of asm-goto support in LLVMCraig Topper2019-02-081-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch accompanies the RFC posted here: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2018-October/127239.html This patch adds a new CallBr IR instruction to support asm-goto inline assembly like gcc as used by the linux kernel. This instruction is both a call instruction and a terminator instruction with multiple successors. Only inline assembly usage is supported today. This also adds a new INLINEASM_BR opcode to SelectionDAG and MachineIR to represent an INLINEASM block that is also considered a terminator instruction. There will likely be more bug fixes and optimizations to follow this, but we felt it had reached a point where we would like to switch to an incremental development model. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636

* [SDAG] Remove the reliance on MI's allocation strategy forChandler Carruth2018-08-141-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `MachineMemOperand` pointers attached to `MachineSDNodes` and instead have the `SelectionDAG` fully manage the memory for this array. Prior to this change, the memory management was deeply confusing here -- The way the MI was built relied on the `SelectionDAG` allocating memory for these arrays of pointers using the `MachineFunction`'s allocator so that the raw pointer to the array could be blindly copied into an eventual `MachineInstr`. This creates a hard coupling between how `MachineInstr`s allocate their array of `MachineMemOperand` pointers and how the `MachineSDNode` does. This change is motivated in large part by a change I am making to how `MachineFunction` allocates these pointers, but it seems like a layering improvement as well. This would run the risk of increasing allocations overall, but I've implemented an optimization that should avoid that by storing a single `MachineMemOperand` pointer directly instead of allocating anything. This is expected to be a net win because the vast majority of uses of these only need a single pointer. As a side-effect, this makes the API for updating a `MachineSDNode` and a `MachineInstr` reasonably different which seems nice to avoid unexpected coupling of these two layers. We can map between them, but we shouldn't be *surprised* at where that occurs. =] Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D50680 llvm-svn: 339740

* [DebugInfo] Examine all uses of isDebugValue() for debug instructions.Shiva Chen2018-05-091-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Because we create a new kind of debug instruction, DBG_LABEL, we need to check all passes which use isDebugValue() to check MachineInstr is debug instruction or not. When expelling debug instructions, we should expel both DBG_VALUE and DBG_LABEL. So, I create a new function, isDebugInstr(), in MachineInstr to check whether the MachineInstr is debug instruction or not. This patch has no new test case. I have run regression test and there is no difference in regression test. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D45342 Patch by Hsiangkai Wang. llvm-svn: 331844

* [SelectionDAGISel] Add a debug print before call to Select. Adjust where ↵Craig Topper2018-01-261-5/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | blank lines are printed during isel process to make things more sensibly grouped. Previously some targets printed their own message at the start of Select to indicate what they were selecting. For the targets that didn't, it means there was no print of the root node before any custom handling in the target executed. So if the target did something custom and never called SelectNodeCommon, no print would be made. For the targets that did print a message in Select, if they didn't custom handle a node SelectNodeCommon would reprint the root node before walking the isel table. It seems better to just print the message before the call to Select so all targets behave the same. And then remove the root node printing from SelectNodeCommon and just leave a message that says we're starting the table search. There were also some oddities in blank line behavior. Usually due to a \n after a call to SelectionDAGNode::dump which already inserted a new line. llvm-svn: 323551

* Use report_fatal_error for unsupported calling conventionsAlex Bradbury2017-08-221-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | The calling convention can be specified by the user in IR. Failing to support a particular calling convention isn't a programming error, and so relying on llvm_unreachable to catch and report an unsupported calling convention is not appropriate. * Add "Restored" flag to CalleeSavedInfoKrzysztof Parzyszek2017-08-102-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | The liveness-tracking code assumes that the registers that were saved in the function's prolog are live outside of the function. Specifically, that registers that were saved are also live-on-exit from the function. This isn't always the case as illustrated by the LR register on ARM.
