* [DWARF5][Debuginfo] Compilation unit type (DW_UT_skeleton) and root DIE ↵Alexey Lapshin2019-12-051-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | (DW_TAG_compile_unit) do not match. That patch fixes incompatible compilation unit type (DW_UT_skeleton) and root DIE (DW_TAG_compile_unit) error. cat split-dwarf.cpp int main() { int a = 1; return 0; } clang++ -O -g -gsplit-dwarf -gdwarf-5 split-dwarf.cpp; llvm-dwarfdump --verify ./a.out | grep skeleton error: Compilation unit type (DW_UT_skeleton) and root DIE (DW_TAG_compile_unit) do not match. The fix is to change DW_TAG_compile_unit into DW_TAG_skeleton_unit when skeleton file is generated. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D70880
* DebugInfo: Use loclistx for DWARFv5 location lists to reduce the number of ↵David Blaikie2019-11-151-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | relocations This only implements the non-dwo part, but loclistx is necessary to use location lists in DWARFv5, so it's a precursor to that work - and generally reduces relocations (only using one reloc, then indexes/relative offsets for all location list references) in non-split DWARF.
* [DebugInfo] Introduce DW_OP_LLVM_convertMarkus Lavin2019-03-191-0/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce a DW_OP_LLVM_convert Dwarf expression pseudo op that allows for a convenient way to perform type conversions on the Dwarf expression stack. As an additional bonus it paves the way for using other Dwarf v5 ops that need to reference a base_type. The new DW_OP_LLVM_convert is used from lib/Transforms/Utils/Local.cpp to perform sext/zext on debug values but mainly the patch is about preparing terrain for adding other Dwarf v5 ops that need to reference a base_type. For Dwarf v5 the op maps to DW_OP_convert and for earlier versions a complex shift & mask pattern is generated to emulate sext/zext. This is a recommit of r356442 with trivial fixes for the failing tests. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D56587 llvm-svn: 356451

* [DebugInfo] Apply subprogram attributes on behalf of owner CUEugene Leviant2019-02-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | When using full LTO it is possible that template function definition DIE is bound to one compilation unit and it's declaration to another. We should add function declaration attributes on behalf of its owner CU otherwise we may end up with malformed file identifier in function declaration DW_AT_decl_file attribute. * Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth2019-01-191-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
* [DebugInfo] Rename EmitDebugThreadLocal back to EmitDebugValue. NFCSimon Atanasyan2018-11-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This reverts r294500. DwarfCompileUnit::addAddressExpr uses DIEExpr for PCOffset. In that case the expression is unrelated to thread locals and so emitting a value of the DIEExpr does not have to always mean emit-debug-thread-local. llvm-svn: 347744
* [DEBUGINFO, NVPTX] Try to pack bytes data into a single string.Alexey Bataev2018-10-241-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: If the target does not support `.asciz` and `.ascii` directives, the strings are represented as bytes and each byte is placed on the new line as a separate byte directive `.b8 <data>`. NVPTX target allows to represent the vector of the data of the same type as a vector, where values are separated using `,` symbol: `.b8 <data1>,<data2>,...`. This allows to reduce the size of the final PTX file. Ptxas tool includes ptx files into the resulting binary object, so reducing the size of the PTX file is important. * Rename DEBUG macro to LLVM_DEBUG.Nicola Zaghen2018-05-141-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects. The renaming was done as follows: - git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g' - git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM - Manual change to APInt - Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it. In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased to the LLVM_DEBUG() one. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D43624 llvm-svn: 332240

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | See r331124 for how I made a list of files missing the include. I then ran this Python script: for f in open('filelist.txt'): f = f.strip() fl = open(f).readlines() found = False for i in xrange(len(fl)): p = '#include "llvm/' if not fl[i].startswith(p): continue if fl[i][len(p):] > 'Config': fl.insert(i, '#include "llvm/Config/llvm-config.h"\n') found = True break if not found: print 'not found', f else: open(f, 'w').write(''.join(fl)) and then looked through everything with `svn diff | diffstat -l | xargs -n 1000 gvim -p` and tried to fix include ordering and whatnot. * Explicitly initialize dwarf::FormParams in DIEInteger::SizeOfPavel Labath2018-03-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This could end up inititialized if someone called the function with a null AsmPrinter. Right now this only happens in DIEHash unit tests, presumably because it was hard to create an AsmPrinter in the context of unit tests. This only worked before r327486 because those tests did not use any dwarf forms whose size actually depended on the dwarf version (otherwise, they would have crashed due to null dereference). I fix the uninitialized error, by explicitly initializing FormParams to an invalid value, which will cause getFixedFormByteSize to return None if called with a form with version-dependent size. A more principled solution might be to fix the DIEHash tests to always pass in a valid AsmPrinter. llvm-svn: 327498

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | values Take DW_FORM_implicit_const attribute value into account when profiling DIEAbbrevData. Currently if we have two similar types with implicit_const attributes and different values we end up with only one abbrev in .debug_abbrev section. For example consider two structures: S1 with implicit_const attribute ATTR and value VAL1 and S2 with implicit_const ATTR and value VAL2. The .debug_abbrev section will contain only 1 related record: [N] DW_TAG_structure_type DW_CHILDREN_yes DW_AT_ATTR DW_FORM_implicit_const VAL1 // .... This is incorrect as struct S2 (with VAL2) will use abbrev record with VAL1. * Make a DWARF generator so we can unit test DWARF APIs with gtest.Greg Clayton2016-12-081-50/+244
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The only tests we have for the DWARF parser are the tests that use llvm-dwarfdump and expect output from textual dumps. More DWARF parser modification are coming in the next few weeks and I wanted to add tests that can verify that we can encode and decode all form types, as well as test some other basic DWARF APIs where we ask DIE objects for their children and siblings. DwarfGenerator.cpp was added in the lib/CodeGen directory. This file contains the code necessary to easily create DWARF for tests: dwarfgen::Generator DG; Triple Triple("x86_64--"); bool success = DG.init(Triple, Version); if (!success) return; dwarfgen::CompileUnit &CU = DG.addCompileUnit(); dwarfgen::DIE CUDie = CU.getUnitDIE(); CUDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_name, DW_FORM_strp, "/tmp/main.c"); CUDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_language, DW_FORM_data2, DW_LANG_C); dwarfgen::DIE SubprogramDie = CUDie.addChild(DW_TAG_subprogram); SubprogramDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_name, DW_FORM_strp, "main"); SubprogramDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_low_pc, DW_FORM_addr, 0x1000U); SubprogramDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_high_pc, DW_FORM_addr, 0x2000U); dwarfgen::DIE IntDie = CUDie.addChild(DW_TAG_base_type); IntDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_name, DW_FORM_strp, "int"); IntDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_encoding, DW_FORM_data1, DW_ATE_signed); IntDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_byte_size, DW_FORM_data1, 4); dwarfgen::DIE ArgcDie = SubprogramDie.addChild(DW_TAG_formal_parameter); ArgcDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_name, DW_FORM_strp, "argc"); // ArgcDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_type, DW_FORM_ref4, IntDie); ArgcDie.addAttribute(DW_AT_type, DW_FORM_ref_addr, IntDie); StringRef FileBytes = DG.generate(); MemoryBufferRef FileBuffer(FileBytes, "dwarf"); auto Obj = object::ObjectFile::createObjectFile(FileBuffer); EXPECT_TRUE((bool)Obj); DWARFContextInMemory DwarfContext(*Obj.get()); This code is backed by the AsmPrinter code that emits DWARF for the actual compiler. While adding unit tests it was discovered that DIEValue that used DIEEntry as their values had bugs where DW_FORM_ref1, DW_FORM_ref2, DW_FORM_ref8, and DW_FORM_ref_udata forms were not supported. These are all now supported. Added support for DW_FORM_string so we can emit inlined C strings. Centralized the code to unique abbreviations into a new DIEAbbrevSet class and made both the dwarfgen::Generator and the llvm::DwarfFile classes use the new class. Fixed comments in the llvm::DIE class so that the Offset is known to be the compile/type unit offset. DIEInteger now supports more DW_FORM values. There are also unit tests that cover: Encoding and decoding all form types and values Encoding and decoding all reference types (DW_FORM_ref1, DW_FORM_ref2, DW_FORM_ref4, DW_FORM_ref8, DW_FORM_ref_udata, DW_FORM_ref_addr) including cross compile unit references with that go forward one compile unit and backward on compile unit. * This change removes the dependency on DwarfDebug that was used for ↵Greg Clayton2016-12-011-22/+39
| | | | | | | | | | | | | DW_FORM_ref_addr by making a new DIEUnit class in DIE.cpp. The DIEUnit class represents a compile or type unit and it owns the unit DIE as an instance variable. This allows anyone with a DIE, to get the unit DIE, and then get back to its DIEUnit without adding any new ivars to the DIE class. Why was this needed? The DIE class has an Offset that is always the CU relative DIE offset, not the "offset in debug info section" as was commented in the header file (the comment has been corrected). This is great for performance because most DIE references are compile unit relative and this means most code that accessed the DIE's offset didn't need to make it into a compile unit relative offset because it already was. When we needed to emit a DW_FORM_ref_addr though, we needed to find the absolute offset of the DIE by finding the DIE's compile/type unit. This class did have the absolute debug info/type offset and could be added to the CU relative offset to compute the absolute offset. With this change we can easily get back to a DIE's DIEUnit which will have this needed offset. Prior to this is required having a DwarfDebug and required calling: DwarfCompileUnit *DwarfDebug::lookupUnit(const DIE *CU) const; Now we can use the DIEUnit class to do so without needing DwarfDebug. All clients now use DIEUnit objects (the DwarfDebug stack and the DwarfLinker). A follow on patch for the DWARF generator will also take advantage of this.
