Its use is not really consistent across the code base, sometimes the lines are longer, sometimes they are shorter and sometimes they are omitted. Furthermore, it looks kind of weird with the 80 column limit, where the comment actually extends past the line, but not by much. Furthermore, when /// is used for Doxygen comments, it looks particularly odd. And when // is used, it incorrectly gives the impression that it's actually a Doxygen comment. I assume these lines were added to improve distinguishing between comments and code. However, given that todays editors and IDEs do a great job at highlighting comments, I think it's worth to drop this for the sake of consistency. Although all their uses were replaced by unique pointers, some variables still carried the suffix. In r353795 I removed another auto_ptr remnant, namely redundant calls to ::get for unique_pointers. Jim justly noted that this is a good opportunity to clean up the variable names as well. I went over all the changes to ensure my find-and-replace didn't have any undesired side-effects. I hope I didn't miss any, but if you end up at this commit doing a git blame on a weirdly named variable, please know that the change was unintentional. llvm-svn: 353912

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: When performing a synchronous resume, the API mutex is held until the process is stopped. This is fine, except for when the OS plugins are processing an event before the main thread is aware of it, in which case we end up with a deadlock because in the internal thread we acquire a resource lock first, and then wait for the API lock, while in the main thread we do the opposite, we already hold the API mutex but are now waiting for the event mutex to handle the event. This patch fixes this by relaxing the need for the API lock in the OS plugins. We can get away with this because we now this code is executed in the main thread. As stated in the comment above, we just want to ensure nobody else messes with the API while we're making a change. In theory it's possible that the main thread would release the lock while we're executing the function, but prevent this would require a more structural solution (which we want, but do not have today). The same workaround was already present, but this patch generalizes it to the whole file. This will allow me to re-land r329891. This completes the abstraction of type parsing by removing all "clang::" references from the SymbolFileDWARF. The new "lldb_private::CompilerDeclContext" class abstracts decl contexts found in compiler type systems so they can be used in internal API calls. The TypeSystem is required to support CompilerDeclContexts with new pure virtual functions that start with "DeclContext" in the member function names. Converted all code that used lldb_private::ClangNamespaceDecl over to use the new CompilerDeclContext class and removed the ClangNamespaceDecl.cpp and ClangNamespaceDecl.h files. Removed direct use of clang APIs from SBType and now use the abstract type systems to correctly explore types. Extended the XML register format to work for LLDB by including extra attributes and elements where needed. You can then single step these virtual threads. A problem arose when thread specific breakpoints were used during thread plans where we would say "set a breakpoint on thread 0x11111" and we would hit the breakpoint on the real thread 1 and the thread IDs wouldn't match and we would get rid of the "stopped at breakpoint" stop info due to this mismatch. Places that used to rely on ScriptInterpreterObject now use StructuredData::Object and its derived classes. To support this, a new type of StructuredData object is introduced, called StructuredData::Generic, which stores a void*. Internally within the python library, StructuredPythonObject subclasses this StructuredData::Generic class so that it can addref and decref the python object on construction and destruction. Additionally, all of the classes in PythonDataObjects.h such as PythonList, PythonDictionary, etc now provide a method to create an instance of the corresponding StructuredData type. For example, there is PythonDictionary::CreateStructuredDictionary. This allows lldb_private::Thread subclasses to be a bit simpler and not all need to duplicate the cache and invalidation settings. | | | | | | | | | | lldb_private::Thread subclasses were changed and the API was not respected properly. This checkin aims to fix this. The process now has two thread lists: a real thread list for threads that are created by the lldb_private::Process subclass, and the user visible threads. The user visible threads are the same as the real threas when no OS plug-in in used. But when an OS plug-in is used, the user thread can be a combination of real and "memory" threads. Real threads can be placed inside of memory threads so that a thread appears to be different, but is still controlled by the actual real thread. When the thread list needs updating, the lldb_private::Process class will call the: lldb_private::Process::UpdateThreadList() function with the old real thread list, and the function is expected to fill in the new real thread list with the current state of the process. After this function, the process will check if there is an OS plug-in being used, and if so, it will give the old user thread list, the new real thread list and the OS plug-in will create the new user thread list from both of these lists. If there is no OS plug-in, the real thread list is the user thread list. These changes keep the lldb_private::Process subclasses clean and no changes are required. llvm-svn: 181091

Operating system plug-ins can now return have a "core" key/value pair in each thread dictionary for the OperatingSystemPython plug-ins which allows the core threads to be contained with memory threads. It also allows these memory threads to be stepped, resumed, and controlled just as if they were the actual backing threads themselves. A few things are introduced: - lldb_private::Thread now has a GetProtocolID() method which returns the thread protocol ID for a given thread. The protocol ID (Thread::GetProtocolID()) is usually the same as the thread id (Thread::GetID()), but it can differ when a memory thread has its own id, but is backed by an actual API thread. - Cleaned up the Thread::WillResume() code to do the mandatory parts in Thread::ShouldResume(), and let the thread subclasses override the Thread::WillResume() which is now just a notification. - Cleaned up ClearStackFrames() implementations so that fewer thread subclasses needed to override them - Changed the POSIXThread class a bit since it overrode Thread::WillResume(). It is doing the wrong thing by calling "Thread::SetResumeState()" on its own, this shouldn't be done by thread subclasses, but the current code might rely on it so I left it in with a TODO comment with an explanation. llvm-svn: 180886

| | | | | | | | C++11 is being used. To do this, we follow what we have done for shared pointers and we define a STD_UNIQUE_PTR macro that can be used and it will "do the right thing". Due to some API differences in std::unique_ptr and due to the fact that we need to be able to compile without C++11, we can't use move semantics so some code needed to change so that it can compile with either C++. Anyone wanting to use a unique_ptr or auto_ptr should now use the "STD_UNIQUE_PTR(TYPE)" macro. llvm-svn: 179779
