* UBIFS: improve function-level documentationJulia Lawall2016-10-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix various inconsistencies in the documentation associated with various functions. In the case of fs/ubifs/lprops.c, the second parameter of ubifs_get_lp_stats was renamed from st to lst in commit 84abf972ccff ("UBIFS: add re-mount debugging checks") In the case of fs/ubifs/lpt_commit.c, the excess variables have never existed in the associated functions since the code was introduced into the kernel. The others appear to be straightforward typos. * UBIFS: extend debug/message capabilitiesSheng Yong2015-03-251-31/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the case where we have more than one volumes on different UBI devices, it may be not that easy to tell which volume prints the messages. Add ubi number and volume id in ubifs_msg/warn/error to help debug. These two values are passed by struct ubifs_info. For those where ubifs_info is not initialized yet, ubifs_* is replaced by pr_*. For those where ubifs_info is not avaliable, ubifs_info is passed to the calling function as a const parameter. The output looks like, [ 95.444879] UBIFS (ubi0:1): background thread "ubifs_bgt0_1" started, PID 696 [ 95.484688] UBIFS (ubi0:1): UBIFS: mounted UBI device 0, volume 1, name "test1" [ 95.484694] UBIFS (ubi0:1): LEB size: 126976 bytes (124 KiB), min./max. * UBIFS: introduce categorized lprops counterArtem Bityutskiy2012-10-261-0/+6
| | | | | | | | This commit is a preparation for a subsequent bugfix. We introduce a counter for categorized lprops. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org
* UBIFS: print lessArtem Bityutskiy2012-08-311-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | UBIFS currently prints a lot of information when it mounts a volume, which bothers some people. Make it less chatty - print only important information by default. Get rid of 'dbg_msg()' macro completely. Reported-by: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>

* UBIFS: remove Kconfig debugging optionArtem Bityutskiy2012-05-161-3/+3
| | | | | | | Have the debugging stuff always compiled-in instead. It simplifies maintanance a lot. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>
* UBIFS: rename dumping functionsArtem Bityutskiy2012-05-161-4/+4
| | | | | | | | This commit re-names all functions which dump something from "dbg_dump_*()" to "ubifs_dump_*()". This is done for consistency with UBI and because this way it will be more logical once we remove the debugging sompilation option. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>
* UBIFS: get rid of dbg_dump_stackArtem Bityutskiy2012-05-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | In case of errors we almost always need the stack dump - it makes no sense to compile it out. Remove the 'dbg_dump_stack()' function completely. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>
* UBIFS: remove douple initialization in change_category()Dan Carpenter2012-05-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | "heap" is initialized twice. I removed the first one, because it makes Smatch complain that we use "new_cat" as an offset before checking it. This doesn't change how the code works, it's just a cleanup. Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>
* UBIFS: introduce helper functions for debugging checks and testsArtem Bityutskiy2011-07-041-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch introduces helper functions for all debugging checks, so instead of doing if (!(ubifs_chk_flags & UBIFS_CHK_GEN)) we now do if (!dbg_is_chk_gen(c)) This is a preparation to further changes where the flags will go away, and we'll need to only change the helper functions, but the code which utilizes them won't be touched. At the same time this patch removes 'dbg_force_in_the_gaps()', 'dbg_force_in_the_gaps_enabled()', and dbg_failure_mode helpers for consistency. * UBIFS: use correct flags in lpropsArtem Bityutskiy2011-07-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The UBIFS lpt tree is in many aspects similar to the TNC tree, and we have similar flags for these trees. And by mistake we use the COW_ZNODE flag for LPT in some places, instead of the right flag COW_CNODE. And this works only because these two constants have the same value. This patch makes all the LPT code to use COW_CNODE and also changes COW_CNODE constant value to make sure we do not misuse the flags any more. * UBIFS: simplify lprops debugging checkArtem Bityutskiy2011-05-161-33/+15
| | | | | | | Now we return all errors from 'scan_check_cb()' directly, so we do not need 'struct scan_check_data' any more, and this patch removes it. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: simplify error path in lprops debugging checkArtem Bityutskiy2011-05-161-15/+10
| | | | | | | Simplify error path in 'scan_check_cb()' and stop using the special 'data->err' field, but instead return the error code directly. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: improve debugging lprops scanning a littleArtem Bityutskiy2011-05-161-24/+18
| | | | | | | | | When doing the lprops extra check ('dbg_check_lprops()') we scan whole media. We even scan empty and freeable LEBs which may contain garbage, which we handle after scanning. This patch teach the lprops checking function ('scan_check_cb()') to avoid scanning for free and freeable LEBs and save time. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: use GFP_NOFS properlyArtem Bityutskiy2011-03-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a brown-paperbag bug which was introduced by me: I used incorrect "GFP_KERNEL | GFP_NOFS" allocation flags to make sure my allocations do not cause write-back. But the correct form is "GFP_NOFS". Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: allocate scanning buffer on demandArtem Bityutskiy2011-03-161-6/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | Instead of using pre-allocated 'c->dbg->buf' buffer in 'scan_check_cb()', dynamically allocate it when needed. The intend is to get rid of the pre-allocated 'c->dbg->buf' buffer and save 128KiB of RAM (or more if PEB size is larger). Indeed, currently we allocate this memory even if the user never enables any self-check, which is wasteful. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: improve lprops dumpArtem Bityutskiy2009-09-151-15/+12
| | | | | | | Improve 'dbg_dump_lprop()' and print dark and dead space there, decode flags, and journal heads. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>

* UBIFS: do not print scary error messages needlesslyArtem Bityutskiy2009-09-101-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | At the moment UBIFS print large and scary error messages and flash dumps in case of nearly any corruption, even if it is a recoverable corruption. For example, if the master node is corrupted, ubifs_scan() prints error dumps, then UBIFS recovers just fine and goes on. This patch makes UBIFS print scary error messages only in real cases, which are not recoverable. It adds 'quiet' argument to the 'ubifs_scan()' function, so the caller may ask 'ubi_scan()' not to print error messages if the caller is able to do recovery. * UBIFS: add re-mount debugging checksArtem Bityutskiy2009-01-261-2/+2
| | | | | | | We observe space corrupted accounting when re-mounting. So add some debbugging checks to catch problems like this. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: fix LEB list freeingArtem Bityutskiy2009-01-261-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | When freeing the c->idx_lebs list, we have to release the LEBs as well, because we might be called from mount to read-only mode code. Otherwise the LEBs stay taken forever, which may cause problems when we re-mount back ro RW mode. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>

* UBIFS: separate debugging fields outArtem Bityutskiy2008-12-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Introduce a new data structure which contains all debugging stuff inside. This is cleaner than having debugging stuff directly in 'c'. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: inline one-line functionsArtem Bityutskiy2008-09-301-28/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | 'ubifs_get_lprops()' and 'ubifs_release_lprops()' basically wrap mutex lock and unlock. We have them because we want lprops subsystem be separate and as independent as possible. And we planned better locking rules for lprops. Anyway, because they are short, it is better to inline them. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
* UBIFS: add a print, fix comments and more minor stuffArtem Bityutskiy2008-09-301-5/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit adds a reserved pool size print and tweaks the prints to make them look nicer. It also fixes and cleans-up some comments. Additionally, it deletes some blank lines to make the code look a little nicer. In other words, nothing essential. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@nokia.com>
