* drivers: net: xgene: fix new firmware backward compatibility with older driverIyappan Subramanian2015-03-041-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes the backward compatibile of the older driver with the newer firmware by making the binding unique so that the older driver won't recognize the non-supported interfaces. In the include/linux/if_vlan.h case, the type used for a local variable was changed in 'net', whereas the function got rewritten to fix a stacked vlan bug in 'net-next'. In drivers/vhost/net.c, Al Viro's iov_iter conversions in 'net-next' overlapped with an endainness fix for VHOST 1.0 in 'net'. In drivers/net/vxlan.c, vxlan_find_vni() added a 'flags' parameter in 'net-next' whereas in 'net' there was a bug fix to pass in the correct network namespace pointer in calls to this function. If the CPU executes the above two reads in out of order fashion, then the bytes[7:0] will have older data and causing the kernel panic. We have to force the order of the reads and thus this patch introduces read memory barrier between these reads. * net: xgene: fix possible NULL dereference in xgene_enet_free_desc_rings()Iyappan Subramanian2014-08-221-7/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | A NULL pointer dereference is possible for the argument ring->buf_pool which is passed to xgene_enet_free_desc_ring(), as ring could be NULL. And now since NULL pointers are being checked for before the calls to xgene_enet_free_desc_ring(), might as well take advantage of them and not call the function if the argument would be NULL. * net: xgene: Check negative return value of xgene_enet_get_ring_size()Tobias Klauser2014-08-141-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | xgene_enet_get_ring_size() returns a negative value in case of an error, but its only caller in xgene_enet_create_desc_ring() currently uses the return value directly as u32. Instead, check for a negative value first and error out in case. Also move the call to xgene_enet_get_ring_size() before devm_kzalloc() so we don't need to free anything in the error path. This fixes the following issue reported by the Coverity Scanner: ** CID 1231336: Improper use of negative value (NEGATIVE_RETURNS) /drivers/net/ethernet/apm/xgene/xgene_enet_main.c: 596 in xgene_enet_create_desc_ring() Signed-off-by: Tobias Klauser <tklauser@distanz.ch> Signed-off-by: David S.
