Presently, smp_processor_id() isn't necessarily set up until setup_arch().
But it's used in boot_cpu_init() and printk() and perhaps in other places,
prior to setup_arch() being called.
So provide a new smp_setup_processor_id() which is called before anything
else, wire it up for Voyager (which boots on a CPU other than #0, and broke).

This patch-queue improves the generic IRQ layer to be truly generic, by adding
various abstractions and features to it, without impacting existing
functionality.
While the queue can be best described as "fix and improve everything in the
generic IRQ layer that we could think of", and thus it consists of many
smaller features and lots of cleanups, the one feature that stands out most is
the new 'irq chip' abstraction.
The irq-chip abstraction is about describing and coding and IRQ controller
driver by mapping its raw hardware capabilities [and quirks, if needed] in a
straightforward way, without having to think about "IRQ flow"
(level/edge/etc.) type of details.
This stands in contrast with the current 'irq-type' model of genirq
architectures, which 'mixes' raw hardware capabilities with 'flow' details.
The patchset supports both types of irq controller designs at once, and
converts i386 and x86_64 to the new irq-chip design.
As a bonus side-effect of the irq-chip approach, chained interrupt controllers
(master/slave PIC constructs, etc.) are now supported by design as well.
The end result of this patchset intends to be simpler architecture-level code
and more consolidation between architectures.
We reused many bits of code and many concepts from Russell King's ARM IRQ
layer, the merging of which was one of the motivations for this patchset.
This patch:
rename desc->handler to desc->chip.
Originally i did not want to do this, because it's a big patch. But having
both "desc->handler", "desc->handle_irq" and "action->handler" caused a
large degree of confusion and made the code appear alot less clean than it
truly is.
I have also attempted a dual approach as well by introducing a
desc->chip alias - but that just wasnt robust enough and broke
frequently.
So lets get over with this quickly. The conversion was done automatically
via scripts and converts all the code in the kernel.
This renaming patch is the first one amongst the patches, so that the
remaining patches can stay flexible and can be merged and split up
without having some big monolithic patch act as a merge barrier.

Voyager stopped booting some time in the 2.6.16-2.6.17 timeframe;
the reason was that it doesn't have a cpu_present_map, so add

[PATCH] Clean up and refactor i386 sub-architecture setup
Doesn't quite work, since it leaves out an include of asm/io.h, without
which the use of inb/outb in the setup file won.t work. This corrects that
and also removes a spurious acpi reference that apparently crept in ages
ago but should never have been there.

Clean up and refactor i386 sub-architecture setup.
This change moves all the code from the
asm-i386/mach-*/setup_arch_pre/post.h headers, into
arch/i386/mach-*/setup.c. mach-*/setup_arch_pre.h is renamed to
setup_arch.h, and contains only things which should be in header files. It
is purely code-motion; there should be no functional changes at all.
Several functions in arch/i386/kernel/setup.c needed to be made non-static
so that they're visible to the code in mach-*/setup.c. asm-i386/setup.h is
used to hold the prototypes for these functions.

This patch switches arch/i386/mach-voyager/voyager_cat.c to using named
initializers for struct resource.
Besides a fixing compile error in Greg's tree, it makes the code more
readable.

Commit 9c869edac591977314323a4eaad5f7633fca684f broke voyager again
rather subtly because it already had its own topology exporting
functions, so now each CPU gets registered twice.
I think we can actually use the generic ones, so I don't propose
reverting it. The attached should eliminate the voyager topology
functions in favour of the generic ones.
I also added a define to ensure voyager is never hotplug CPU (we don't
have the support in the SMP harness).

Right at the moment (thanks to a patch from Andrew), cpu_possible_map on
voyager is CPU_MASK_NONE, which means the machine always thinks it has no
CPUs. Fix that by doing an early initialisation of the cpu_possible_map
from the cpu_phys_present_map.

Initialising cpu_possible_map to all-ones with CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU means that
a) All for_each_cpu() loops will iterate across all NR_CPUS CPUs, rather
than over possible ones. That can be quite expensive.
b) Soon we'll be allocating per-cpu areas only for possible CPUs. So with
CPU_MASK_ALL, we'll be wasting memory.
I also switched voyager over to not use CPU_MASK_ALL in the non-CPU-hotplug
case. Should be OK..
I note that parisc is also using CPU_MASK_ALL. Suggest that it stop doing
that.

for_each_cpu walks through all processors in cpu_possible_map, which is
defined as cpu_callout_map on i386 and isn't initialised until all
processors have been booted. This breaks things which do for_each_cpu
iterations early during boot. So, define cpu_possible_map as a bitmap with
NR_CPUS bits populated. This was triggered by a patch i'm working on which
does alloc_percpu before bringing up secondary processors.
From: Alexander Nyberg <alexn@telia.com>
i386-boottime-for_each_cpu-broken.patch
i386-boottime-for_each_cpu-broken-fix.patch
The SMP version of __alloc_percpu checks the cpu_possible_map before
allocating memory for a certain cpu. With the above patches the BSP cpuid
is never set in cpu_possible_map which breaks CONFIG_SMP on uniprocessor
machines (as soon as someone tries to dereference something allocated via
__alloc_percpu, which in fact is never allocated since the cpu is not set
in cpu_possible_map).

[PATCH] i386: Implement machine_emergency_reboot
introduced this new function into arch/i386/reboot.c. However,
subarchitectures are entitled to implement their own copies of reboot.c
from which this new function is now missing.

machine_restart, machine_halt and machine_power_off are machine
specific hooks deep into the reboot logic, that modules
have no business messing with. Usually code should be calling
kernel_restart, kernel_halt, kernel_power_off, or
emergency_restart. So don't export machine_restart,
machine_halt, and machine_power_off so we can catch buggy users.

i386_ksym reduction
This patch:
[PATCH] Remove i386_ksyms.c, almost
made files like smp.c do their own EXPORT_SYMBOLS. This means that all
subarchitectures that override these symbols now have to do the exports
themselves. This patch adds the exports for voyager (which is the most
affected since it has a separate smp harness). However, someone should
audit all the other subarchitectures to see if any others got broken.

Rename user_mode to user_mode_vm and add a user_mode macro similar to the
x86-64 one.
This is useful for Xen because the linux xen kernel does not runs on the same
priviledge that a vanilla linux kernel, and with this we just need to redefine
user_mode().

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
