|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | git://git.linaro.org/people/shawnguo/linux-2.6 into next/cleanup From Shawn Guo: The series cleans up ARCH_HAS_DECOMP_WDOG and arch_decomp_wdog which are unused on ARM architecure. Samsung has some code setting up wdog in arch_decomp_wdog(). But since CONFIG_S3C_BOOT_WATCHDOG is defined nowhere, it will not run. Otherwise, system can not boot at all when wdog is set up but no one pats it. * tag 'cleanup-decompwdog-3.9' of git://git.linaro.org/people/shawnguo/linux-2.6: ARM: samsung: remove unused arch_decomp_wdog() code ARM: remove unused arch_decomp_wdog() ARM: decompress: remove unused ARCH_HAS_DECOMP_WDOG Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>

* | ARM: delete struct sys_timerStephen Warren2012-12-248-14/+8
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct, and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization function itself. This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init() function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at: http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg. * ARM: config: sort select statements alphanumericallyRussell King2012-10-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As suggested by Andrew Morton: This is a pet peeve of mine. Any time there's a long list of items (header file inclusions, kconfig entries, array initalisers, etc) and someone wants to add a new item, they *always* go and stick it at the end of the list. Guys, don't do this. Either put the new item into a randomly-chosen position or, probably better, alphanumerically sort the list. lets sort all our select statements alphanumerically. This commit was created by the following perl: while (<>) { while (/\\\s*$/) { $_ .= <>; } undef %selects if /^\s*config\s+/; if (/^\s+select\s+(\w+).*/) { if (defined($selects{$1})) { if ($selects{$1} eq $_) { print STDERR "Warning: removing duplicated $1 entry\n"; } else { print STDERR "Error: $1 differently selected\n". "\tOld: $selects{$1}\n". "\tNew: $_\n"; exit 1; } } $selects{$1} = $_; next; } if (%selects and (/^\s*$/ or /^\s+help/ or /^\s+---help---/ or /^endif/ or /^endchoice/)) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } undef %selects; } print; } if (%selects) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } } It found two duplicates: Warning: removing duplicated S5P_SETUP_MIPIPHY entry Warning: removing duplicated HARDIRQS_SW_RESEND entry and they are identical duplicates, hence the shrinkage in the diffstat of two lines. For enabling CPU idle event, CPU arch code should call ledtrig_cpu() stub to trigger idle start or idle end event. I hadn't done the full sanity-check of defconfig builds by the time I sent up the other fixes yesterday or I would have included it then. Two patches, one dealing with the system.h fallout, the other is a missing linux/bug.h in a place where ARRAY_SIZE() is used." * tag 'fixes-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: ARM: clps711x: fix missing include file ARM: fix builds due to missing <asm/system_misc.h> includes

I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it.. * tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system: (38 commits) Delete all instances of asm/system.h Remove all #inclusions of asm/system.h Add #includes needed to permit the removal of asm/system.h Move all declarations of free_initmem() to linux/mm.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for OpenRISC Split arch_align_stack() out from asm-generic/system.h Split the switch_to() wrapper out of asm-generic/system.h Move the asm-generic/system.h xchg() implementation to asm-generic/cmpxchg.h Create asm-generic/barrier.h Make asm-generic/cmpxchg.h #include asm-generic/cmpxchg-local.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for Xtensa Disintegrate asm/system.h for Unicore32 [based on ver #3, changed by gxt] Disintegrate asm/system.h for Tile Disintegrate asm/system.h for Sparc Disintegrate asm/system.h for SH Disintegrate asm/system.h for Score Disintegrate asm/system.h for S390 Disintegrate asm/system.h for PowerPC Disintegrate asm/system.h for PA-RISC Disintegrate asm/system.h for MN10300 ...
