* [media] DocBook media: fix wrong spacingHans Verkuil2014-07-172-69/+66
| | | | | | | | There shouldn't be any spaces after <constant> or before </constant>. This leads to ugly results like: 'image size set by VIDIOC_S_FMT .' Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil@cisco.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <m.chehab@samsung.com>
* [media] v4l: Add premultiplied alpha flag for pixel formatsLaurent Pinchart2014-07-172-2/+31
| | | | | | | | When set, the new V4L2_PIX_FMT_FLAG_PREMUL_ALPHA flag indicates that the pixel values are premultiplied by the alpha channel value. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart+renesas@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <m.chehab@samsung.com>
* [media] v4l: Support extending the v4l2_pix_format structureLaurent Pinchart2014-07-174-11/+40
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The v4l2_pix_format structure has no reserved field. It is embedded in the v4l2_framebuffer structure which has no reserved fields either, and in the v4l2_format structure which has reserved fields that were not previously required to be zeroed out by applications. To allow extending v4l2_pix_format, inline it in the v4l2_framebuffer structure, and use the priv field as a magic value to indicate that the application has set all v4l2_pix_format extended fields and zeroed all reserved fields following the v4l2_pix_format field in the v4l2_format structure. The availability of this API extension is reported to userspace through the new V4L2_CAP_EXT_PIX_FORMAT capability flag. Just checking that the priv field is still set to the magic value at [GS]_FMT return wouldn't be enough, as older kernels don't zero the priv field on return. To simplify the internal API towards drivers zero the extended fields and set the priv field to the magic value for applications not aware of the extensions. * [media] v4l: Add ARGB and XRGB pixel formatsLaurent Pinchart2014-07-171-20/+395
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The existing RGB pixel formats are ill-defined in respect to their alpha bits and their meaning is driver dependent. Create new standard ARGB and XRGB variants with clearly defined meanings and make the existing variants deprecated. The new pixel formats 4CC values have been selected to match the DRM 4CCs for the same in-memory formats. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This event indicates that the video device has encountered a source parameter change during runtime. This can typically be a resolution change detected by a video decoder OR a format change detected by an input connector. * [media] v4l: Add timestamp source flags, mask and document themSakari Ailus2014-03-051-6/+30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some devices do not produce timestamps that correspond to the end of the frame. The user space should be informed on the matter. This patch achieves that by adding buffer flags (and a mask) for timestamp sources since more possible timestamping points are expected than just two. A three-bit mask is defined (V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_MASK) and two of the eight possible values is are defined V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_EOF for end of frame (value zero) V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_SOE for start of exposure (next value). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Document that monotonic timestamps are taken after the corresponding frame has been received, not when the reception has begun. This corresponds to the reality of current drivers: the timestamp is naturally taken when the hardware triggers an interrupt to tell the driver to handle the received frame.
