* stdio/device: rework function naming conventionJean-Christophe PLAGNIOL-VILLARD2009-07-181-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | So far the console API uses the following naming convention: ======Extract====== typedef struct device_t; int device_register (device_t * dev); int devices_init (void); int device_deregister(char *devname); struct list_head* device_get_list(void); device_t* device_get_by_name(char* name); device_t* device_clone(device_t *dev); ======= which is too generic and confusing. Instead of using device_XX and device_t we change this into stdio_XX and stdio_dev This will also allow to add later a generic device mechanism in order to have support for multiple devices and driver instances. | | | | | | | | | Follow up to git commit: 19b5b533ccd522abeb501d510750693c35e20456 Cleanup on compiler warnings on unused variables now that bd->bi_enetaddr is no longer used. Signed-off-by: Richard Retanubun <RichardRetanubun@RuggedCom.com>
* Adds WATCHDOG_RESET() function call to lib_m68k dtimer_interrupt.Richard Retanubun2009-06-121-1/+12
| | | | | | | | Ported from lib_ppc/interrupts.c, this adds the ability for the coldfire system timer to auto-reset the watchdog when dtimer_interrupts is called. Signed-off-by: Richard Retanubun <RichardRetanubun@RuggedCom.com>
* lib_arch/board.c: Move malloc initialization before flash_init()Stefan Roese2009-06-121-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves the malloc initialization before calling flash_init(). Upcoming changes to the NOR FLASH common CFI driver with optional MTD infrastructure and MTD concatenation support will call malloc(). And nothing really speaks against enabling malloc just a little earlier in the boot stage. Some architectures already enable malloc before calling flash_init() so they don't need any changes here. * rename include/zlib.h to include/u-boot/zlib.hJean-Christophe PLAGNIOL-VILLARD2009-04-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Some systems have zlib.h installed in /usr/include/. This isn't the desired file for u-boot code - we want the one in include/zlib.h. This rename will avoid the conflict. * Cleanup the comment for m68k linux boot argument passing.Richard Retanubun2009-02-211-5/+6
| | | | | | | | | | This patch clarifies the way m68k passes linux boot argument. The one gotcha here is that the assembly instruction that the compiler uses to jump to the kernel is 'jsr' which pushes the program counter for the instruction after the jsr into the stack pointer. * bootm: Add subcommandsKumar Gala2008-10-291-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add the ability to break the steps of the bootm command into several subcommands: start, loados, ramdisk, fdt, bdt, cmdline, prep, go. This allows us to do things like manipulate device trees before they are passed to a booting kernel or setup memory for a secondary core in multicore situations. Not all OS types support all subcommands (currently only start, loados, ramdisk, fdt, and go are supported). Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* Added arch_lmb_reserve to allow arch specific memory regions protectionKumar Gala2008-10-181-13/+16
| | | | | | | | | Each architecture has different ways of determine what regions of memory might not be valid to get overwritten when we boot. This provides a hook to allow them to reserve any regions they care about. Currently only ppc, m68k and sparc need/use this. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>

* bootm: refactor do_reset and os boot function argsKumar Gala2008-08-261-8/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | There is no need for each OS specific function to call do_reset() we can just do it once in bootm. This means its feasible on an error for the OS boot function to return. Also, remove passing in cmd_tbl_t as its not needed by the OS boot functions. flag isn't currently used but might be in the future so we left it alone. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* bootm: move lmb into the bootm_headers_t structureKumar Gala2008-08-261-1/+1
| | | | | | | | To allow for persistent state between future bootm subcommands we need the lmb to exist in a global state. Moving it into the bootm_headers_t allows us to do that. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* bootm: refactor ramdisk locating codeKumar Gala2008-08-261-9/+3

* Consolidate strmhz() implementationHaavard Skinnemoen2008-08-211-17/+0
| | | | | | | | | | ARM, i386, m68k and ppc all have identical implementations of strmhz(). Other architectures don't provide this function at all. This patch moves strmhz() into lib_generic, reducing code duplication and providing a more unified API across architectures. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <haavard.skinnemoen@atmel.com>

* Restore the ability to continue booting after legacy image overwriteMarian Balakowicz2008-04-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Before new uImage code was merged, bootm code allowed for the kernel image to get overwritten during decompresion. new uImage introduced a check for image overwrites and refused to boot the image that got overwritten. This patch restores the old behavior. It also adds a warning when the image overwriten is a multi-image file, because in such case accessing componentes other than the first one will fail. * [new uImage] Add new uImage format support to arch specific do_bootm_linux() ↵Marian Balakowicz2008-03-121-5/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | routines This patch updates architecture specific implementations of do_bootm_linux() adding new uImage format handling for operations like get kernel entry point address, get kernel image data start address. Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Remove unnecessary arguments passed to ramdisk routinesMarian Balakowicz2008-03-121-3/+2
| | | | | | | boot_get_ramdisk() and image_get_ramdisk() do not need all cmdtp, flag, argc and argv arguments. Simplify routines definition. Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Update naming convention for bootm/uImage related codeMarian Balakowicz2008-02-291-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch introduces the following prefix convention for the image format handling and bootm related code: genimg_ - dual format shared code image_ - legacy uImage format specific code fit_ - new uImage format specific code boot_ - booting process related code Related routines are renamed and a few pieces of code are moved around and re-grouped. * [new uImage] Provide ability to restrict region used for boot imagesKumar Gala2008-02-291-1/+3
| | | | | | | | Allow the user to set 'bootm_low' and 'bootm_size' env vars as a way to restrict what memory range is used for bootm. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org> Acked-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Use lmb for bootm allocationsKumar Gala2008-02-291-7/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert generic ramdisk_high(), get_boot_cmdline(), get_boot_kbd() functions over to using lmb for allocation of the ramdisk, command line and kernel bd info. Convert PPC specific fdt_relocate() to use lmb for allocation of the device tree. Provided a weak function that board code can call to do additional lmb reserves if needed. Also introduce the concept of bootmap_base to specify the offset in physical memory that the bootmap is located at. This is used for allocations of the cmdline, kernel bd, and device tree as they should be contained within bootmap_base and bootmap_base + CFG_BOOTMAPSZ. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* [new uImage] rework error handling so common functions don't resetKumar Gala2008-02-291-1/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Changed image_get_ramdisk() to just return NULL on error and have get_ramdisk() propogate that error to the caller. It's left to the caller to call do_reset() if it wants to. Also moved calling do_reset() in get_fdt() and fdt_relocate() on ppc to a common location. In the future we will change get_fdt() and fdt_relocate() to return success/failure and not call do_reset() at all. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org> Acked-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Don't pass kdb to ramdisk_high since we may not have oneKumar Gala2008-02-291-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | We don't actually need the kdb param as we are just using it to get bd->bi_memsize which we can get from gd->bd->bi_memsize. Also, if we boot via OF we might not actually fill out a kdb. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org> Acked-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Move image verify flag to bootm_headers structureMarian Balakowicz2008-02-271-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Do not pass image verification flag directly to related routines. Simplify argument passing and move it to the bootm_header structure which contains curently processed image specific data and is already being passed on the argument list. * [new uImage] Add dual format uImage support frameworkMarian Balakowicz2008-02-251-7/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds framework for dual format images. Format detection is added and the bootm controll flow is updated to include cases for new FIT format uImages. When the legacy (image_header based) format is detected appropriate legacy specific handling is invoked. For the new (FIT based) format uImages dual boot framework has a minial support, that will only print out a corresponding debug messages. Implementation of the FIT specific handling will be added in following patches. Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Cleanup do_botm_linux() boot allocationsMarian Balakowicz2008-02-071-44/+28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves common pre-boot allocation steps shared between PPC and M68K to a helper routines: common: - get_boot_sp_limit() - get_boot_cmline() - get_boot_kbd() platform: - set_clocks_in_mhz() Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Move ramdisk loading to a common routineMarian Balakowicz2008-02-071-88/+26
| | | | | | | | | Ramdisk loading code, including initrd_high variable handling, was duplicated for PPC and M68K platforms. This patch creates common helper routine that is being called from both platform do_bootm_linux() routines. Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Factor out common image_get_ramdisk() routineMarian Balakowicz2008-02-071-80/+9
| | | | | | | | Architecture specific do_bootm_linux() routines share common ramdisk image processing code. Move this code to a common helper routine. Signed-off-by: Marian Balakowicz <m8@semihalf.com>
* [new uImage] Rename architecture specific bootm code filesMarian Balakowicz2008-02-072-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implementation of the do_bootm_linux() and other bootm helper routines is architecture specific code.
