Commit 83a86fbb5b56 ("irqchip/gic: Loudly complain about the use of
IRQ_TYPE_NONE") started warning about incorrect dts usage for irqs.
ARM GIC only supports active-high interrupts for SPI (Shared Peripheral
Interrupts), and the Palmas PMIC by default is active-low.
Palmas PMIC allows changing the interrupt polarity using register
PALMAS_POLARITY_CTRL_INT_POLARITY, but configuring sys_nirq1 with
a pull-down and setting PALMAS_POLARITY_CTRL_INT_POLARITY made the
Palmas RTC interrupts stop working. This can be easily tested with
kernel tools rtctest.c.
Turns out the SoC inverts the sys_nirq pins for GIC as they do not go
through a peripheral device but go directly to the MPUSS wakeupgen.
I've verified this by muxing the interrupt line temporarily to gpio_wk16
instead of sys_nirq1. with a gpio, the interrupt works fine both
active-low and active-high with the SoC internal pull configured and
palmas polarity configured. But as sys_nirq1, the interrupt only works
when configured ACTIVE_LOW for palmas, and ACTIVE_HIGH for GIC.
Note that there was a similar issue earlier with tegra114 and palmas
interrupt polarity that got fixed by commit df545d1cd01a ("mfd: palmas:
Provide irq flags through DT/platform data"). However, the difference
between omap5 and tegra114 is that tegra inverts the palmas interrupt
twice, once when entering tegra PMC, and again when exiting tegra PMC
to GIC.
Let's fix the issue by adding a custom wakeupgen_irq_set_type() for
wakeupgen and invert any interrupts with wrong polarity. Let's also
warn about any non-sysnirq pins using wrong polarity. Note that we
also need to update the dts for the level as IRQ_TYPE_NONE never
has irq_set_type() called, and let's add some comments and use proper
pin nameing to avoid more confusion later on.

HS omaps use irq_save_secure_context() instead of irq_save_context()
so sar_base will never get initialized and irq_sar_clear() gets called
with a wrong address for HS omaps from irq_restore_context().
Starting with commit f4b9f40ae95b ("ARM: OMAP4+: Initialize SAR RAM
base early for proper CPU1 reset for kexec") we have it available,
and this ideally would been fixed with that commit already.

AM43XX has the same wakeupgen IP as OMAP4/5. The only
notable difference is the presence of 7 register banks
and lack of SAR area which has been used in OMAP4/5 for
saving and restoring the context around low power states.
In case of AM43XX the context is saved and restored by
the kernel. Introduce wakeupgen_ops so that context save
and restore can be set on a per-SoC basis during init.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc
Pull ARM SoC platform updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"We get support for three new 32-bit SoC platforms this time.
The amount of changes in arch/arm for any of them is miniscule, as all
the interesting code is in device driver subsystems (irqchip, clk,
pinctrl, ...) these days. I'm listing them here, as the addition of
the Kconfig statement is the main relevant milestone for a new
platform. In each case, some drivers are are shared with existing
platforms, while other drivers are added for v4.7 as well, or come in
a later release.
- The Aspeed platform is probably the most interesting one, this is
what most whitebox servers use as their baseboard management
controller. We get support for the very common ast2400 and ast2500
SoCs. The OpenBMC project focuses on this chip, and the LWN
article about their ELC 2016 presentation at
https://lwn.net/Articles/683320/
triggered the submission, but the code comes from IBM's OpenPOWER
team rather than the team at Facebook. There are still a lot more
drivers that need to get added over time, and I hope both teams can
work together on that.
- OXNAS is an old platform for Network Attached Storage devices from
Oxford Semiconductor. There are models with ARM10 (!) and
ARM11MPCore cores, but for now, we only support the original ARM9
based versions. The product lineup was subsequently part of PLX,
Avago and now the new Broadcom Ltd.
https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/hardware/soc/soc.oxnas
has some more information.
- V2M-MPS2 is a prototyping platform from ARM for their Cortex-M
cores and is related to the existing Realview / Versatile Express
lineup, but without MMU.
We now support various NOMMU platforms, so adding a new one is
fairly straightforward.
http://infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/com.arm.doc.100112_0100_03_en/
has detailed information about the platform.
Other noteworthy updates:
- Work on LPC32xx has resumed, and Vladimir Zapolskiy and Sylvain
Lemieux are now maintaining the platform.
This is an older ARM9 based platform from NXP (not Freescale), but
it remains in use in embedded markets.
- Kevin Hilman is now co-maintaining the Amlogic Meson platform for
both 32-bit and 64-bit ARM, and started contributing some patches.
- As is often the case, work on the OMAP platforms makes up the bulk
of the actual SoC code changes in arch/arm, but there isn't a lot
of that either"

DRA7 has no SAR region for automated save and restore of wakeupgen,
which does not make real since the SoC really does not do legacy OFF
mode anymore. Further wakeupgen should never loose context in CSWR
retention mode for MPU domain on DRA7 since that is the deepest state
we will enter.
So, just skip, instead of oopsing as follows while attemptint to enter
suspend on BeagleBoard-X15.

Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Olof Johansson:
"Again we have a sizable (but not huge) cleanup branch with a net delta
of about -3k lines.
Main contents here is:
- A bunch of development/cleanup of a few PXA boards
- Removal of bockw platforms on shmobile, since the platform has now
gone completely multiplatform. Whee!
- move of the 32kHz timer on OMAP to a proper timesource
- Misc cleanup of older OMAP material (incl removal of one board
file)
- Switch over to new common PWM lookup support for several platforms
There's also a handful of other cleanups across the tree, but the
above are the major pieces"

Now that __cpuinit has been removed, the __ref markings on these

the multi_v7_defconfig image:

As most of these drivers have dependencies (they exchange IRQ

The conversion of the wakeupgen irqchip to hierarchical irq domains
failed to provide a mechanism to properly set the trigger type of an
interrupt.
The wakeupgen irq chip itself has no mechanism and therefor no
irq_set_type() callback. The code before the conversion relayed the
trigger configuration directly to the underlying GIC.
Restore the correct behaviour by setting the wakeupgen irq_set_type
callback to irq_chip_set_type_parent(). This propagates the
set_trigger() call to the underlying GIC irqchip.

wakeup from suspend, and it makes a lot of sense to convert
this code to use stacked domains instead.
This patch does just this, updating the DT files to actually
reflect what the HW provides.
BIG FAT WARNING: because the DTs were so far lying by not
exposing the WUGEN HW block, kernels with this patch applied
won't have any suspend-resume facility when booted with old DTs,
and old kernels with updated DTs won't even boot.
On a platform with this patch applied, the system looks like
this:

On OMAP5 / DRA7, prevent a CPU powerdomain OFF and resulting MPU OSWR
and instead attempt a CPU RET and side effect, MPU RET in suspend.
NOTE: the hardware was originally designed to be capable of achieving
deep power states such as OFF and OSWR, however due to various issues
and risks, deepest valid state was determined to be CSWR - hence we use
the errata framework to handle this case.

All OMAP IP blocks expect LE data, but CPU may operate in BE mode.
Need to use endian neutral functions to read/write h/w registers.
I.e instead of __raw_read[lw] and __raw_write[lw] functions code
need to use read[lw]_relaxed and write[lw]_relaxed functions.
If the first simply reads/writes register, the second will byteswap
it if host operates in BE mode.
Changes are trivial sed like replacement of __raw_xxx functions
with xxx_relaxed variant.

The wakeup gen mask/unmask callback uses the irq element of the
irq_data to setup. The irq is the linux virtual irq number and
is same as the hardware irq number only when the parent irqchip
is setup as a legacy domain. When it is used as a linear domain,
the virtual irqs are allocated dynamically and wakeup gen code
cannot rely on these numbers to access the irq registers. Instead
use the hwirq element of the irq_data which represent the physical
irq number.

AM43x has 224 interrupts and 7 banks, make it as maximum values. Keep
default values as earlier, if am43x is detected, update interrupts and
banks accordingly.
Also AM43x has only one cpu, ensure that clearing bitmask at wakeupgen
is done only for the single existing cpu, existing code assumes that
there are two cpu's.
If bitmask is cleared in wakeupgen for the nonexistent second cpu,
an imprecise abort happens as soon as Kernel switches to user space.

The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense
some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings
do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in
commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time")
is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created
with improper use of the various __init prefixes.
After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go
the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone,
we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h.
Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since
notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c)
and are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from
the arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings.
As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit
related content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get
rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless.
This removes all the ARM uses of the __cpuinit macros from C code,
and all __CPUINIT from assembly code. It also had two ".previous"
section statements that were paired off against __CPUINIT
(aka .section ".cpuinit.text") that also get removed here.

Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann:
"A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated
largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the
others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems.
The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point
where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even
specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device
tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes
basically touch every single platform in the process.
We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here,
with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being
"multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their
headers to architecture independent code any more.
It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup.
The overall reduction in total code lines is mostly the result of
removing broken and obsolete code."

When applying RT patch on top of Linux, spinlocks are
implemented as RT-mutexes, which means they are preemptable.
Current GIC implementation on OMAP is using a spinlock
to protect against preemption. As it turns out, we need
to convert that lock into a raw_spinlock so that OMAP's
interrupt controller works as expected after RT-patch
is applied.
This patch is simply to decrease the amount of changes
RT-team needs to carry out of tree. It doesn't cause any
changes in behavior.

Pull ARM soc general cleanups from Olof Johansson:
"This is a large branch that contains a handful of different cleanups:
- Fixing up the I/O space remapping on PCI on ARM. This is a series
from Rob Herring that restructures how all pci devices allocate I/O
space, and it's part of the work to allow multiplatform kernels.
- A number of cleanup series for OMAP, moving and removing some
headers, sparse irq rework and in general preparation for
multiplatform.
- Final removal of all non-DT boards for Tegra, it is now
device-tree-only!
- Removal of a stale platform, nxp4008. It's an old mobile chipset
that is no longer in use, and was very likely never really used
with a mainline kernel. We have not been able to find anyone
interested in keeping it around in the kernel.
- Removal of the legacy dmaengine driver on tegra
+ A handful of other things that I haven't described above."

As the plat and mach includes need to disappear for single zImage work,
we need to remove plat/hardware.h.
Do this by splitting plat/hardware.h into omap1 and omap2+ specific files.
The old plat/hardware.h already has omap1 only defines, so it gets moved
to mach/hardware.h for omap1. For omap2+, we use the local soc.h
that for now just includes the related SoC headers to keep this patch more
readable.
Note that the local soc.h still includes plat/cpu.h that can be dealt
with in later patches. Let's also include plat/serial.h from common.h for
all the board-*.c files. This allows making the include files local later
on without patching these files again.
Note that only minimal changes are done in this patch for the
drivers/watchdog/omap_wdt.c driver to keep things compiling. Further
patches are needed to eventually remove cpu_is_omap usage in the drivers.
Also only minimal changes are done to sound/soc/omap/* to remove the
unneeded includes and to define OMAP44XX_MCPDM_L3_BASE locally so there's
no need to include omap44xx.h.
While at it, also sort some of the includes in the standard way.

As the interrupts should only be defined in the platform_data, and
eventually coming from device tree, there's no need to define them
in header files.
Let's remove the hardcoded references to irqs.h and fix up the includes
so we don't rely on headers included in irqs.h. Note that we're
defining OMAP_INTC_START as 0 to the interrupts. This will be needed
when we enable SPARSE_IRQ. For some drivers we need to add
#include <plat/cpu.h> for now until these drivers are fixed to
remove cpu_is_omapxxxx() usage.
While at it, sort som of the includes the standard way, and add
the trailing commas where they are missing in the related data
structures.
Note that for drivers/staging/tidspbridge we just define things
locally.

If NR_IRQS is less than MAX_IRQS, we end up writing past the
irq_target_cpu array in omap_wakeupgen_init():
/* Associate all the IRQs to boot CPU like GIC init does. */
for (i = 0; i < max_irqs; i++)
irq_target_cpu[i] = boot_cpu;
This can happen if SPARSE_IRQ is enabled as by default NR_IRQS is
set to 16. Without this patch we're overwriting other data during
the boot.
Looks like a similar fix was posted by Benoit Cousson earlier

The wakeupgen context-save code reads AUXCOREBOOT0 register
instead of AUXCOREBOOT1 register contents while saving AUXCOREBOOT1.
Fix the same.

OMAP4 and OMAP5 share same WakeupGen IP with below few udpates on OMAP5.
- Additional 32 interrupt support is added w.r.t OMAP4 design.
- The AUX CORE boot registers are now made accessible from non-secure SW.
- SAR offset are changed and PTMSYNC* registers are removed from SAR.
Patch updates the WakeupGen code accordingly.

When CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n, there are unused functions in wakeupgen:
arch/arm/mach-omap2/omap-wakeupgen.c:181: warning: 'wakeupgen_irqmask_all' defined but not used
Fix this by moving all the functions only used when CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=y
together and wrapping in an #ifdef.
No functional changes.

Add WakeupGen and secure GIC low power support to save and restore
it's registers. WakeupGen Registers are saved to pre-defined SAR RAM layout
and the restore is automatically done by hardware(ROM code) while coming
out of MPUSS OSWR or Device off state. Secure GIC is saved using secure
API and restored by hardware like WakeupGen.

OMAP WakeupGen is the interrupt controller extension used along
with ARM GIC to wake the CPU out from low power states on
external interrupts.
The WakeupGen unit is responsible for generating the wakeup event
from the incoming interrupts and enable bits. It is implemented
in the MPU always ON power domain. During normal operation,
WakeupGen delivers the external interrupts directly to the GIC.
WakeupGen specification has one restriction as per Veyron version 1.6.
It is SW responsibility to program interrupt enabling/disabling
coherently in the GIC and in the WakeupGen enable registers. That is, a
given interrupt for a given CPU is either enable at both GIC and WakeupGen,
or disable at both, but no mix. That's the reason the WakeupGen is
implemented as an extension of GIC.
