* Compile Explorer MSS libs in our istepsmss libChristian Geddes2019-04-031-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We added P9A awhile back but forgot to add in the explorer libs. Some of the MSS hwps are requiring these so we need to add them. When we pulled this in it caused the HBI image for the Nimbus and Cumulus standalone layouts to be too large. To get around this we will not compile any Axone/Explorer HWP code in non-axone system configurations. * Stop overwriting OCMB vpd info in standalone and handle DDIMM modulesChristian Geddes2019-04-031-15/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit removes some lines that were overwriting the OCMB's eeproms with what we thought was "good" VPD. Simics itself now has a better copy so we will use theirs. When consuming their VPD however we found that Hostboot was missing support for the DDIMM type modules. This commit also update the spd driver to handle this new type of memory module. * Resize WOF to allow AXONE test pnor to fit inside 64 MBChristian Geddes2019-04-013-22/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit reduces the size of the WOFDATA section in PNOR from 12 MB -> 6 MB in an effort to get axone pnor test image fitting in 64 MB. We also had to move from using the very larg ZZ WOF image to use the smaller Zeppelin WOF image. Due to the way the makefile that generates the pnor image works we always generate "final" versions of all 3 WOF images (ZZ, Zeppelin, Fleetwood) regardless of what we are actually building. There were some checks in the genPnorImages script that would ensure the layout you are using was big enough for any binary that we generate. I have removed this restriction so you can now generate binaries that are larger then the space allotted (we will not use the larger binaries but they still get generated). The alternative is to edit the makefile to only generate the "final" images of the sections we want. That is possible but would require a larger rewrite of the makefile. * Moving libnvdimm into a resident moduleDan Crowell2019-03-221-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The nvdimm module provides the back-end of a device driver interface. That means that it has a REGISTER_ROUTE call that will run when the module is loaded. Right now the module is loaded/unloaded for several isteps, which means we end up seeing DEVFW_RC_DOUBLE_REGISTRATION errors. These are only informational, but they are still indicating a problem. This change moves the libnvdimm.so module into the list of extended initservice tasks that get loaded before we start the isteps. This is where all of our other device drivers live. I cleaned up a leftover call to libmmio.so that was there from the same kind of change previously. * Method to execute testcases early in the bootDan Crowell2019-02-281-2/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A new CONFIG variable has been created that will trigger the istep dispatcher to start the CXX unit test execution at some point during the boot rather than waiting until the end. This is useful for quick targeted testing and also for early bringup of new platforms. CONFIG_EARLY_TESTCASES is the new flag, and it uses ATTR_EARLY_TESTCASES_ISTEP to determine where in the boot to stop. Changes were required in several testcases to either skip the test completely (typically due to not having enough memory) or to add additional logic to load new support libraries on demand. The Axone platform has this flag enabled by default to execute testcases at the end of istep 6.9 (host_gard). * Use shell command to look up CEC_TYPEChristian Geddes2019-02-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Using the native 'env' command in simics causes users to have problems when reloading checkpoints on pre-axone systems. When you reload the checkpoint CEC_MODEL is not defined and it gives env an error which crashes the simics run. Using the shell command allows it to fail to find the CEC_MODEL variable and is able to continue on. This is actually reverting back to the original behavior prior to suggestions from simics team. * Update simics build and pull in Axone binary to pnor generationChristian Geddes2019-02-204-22/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously we were using some CUMULUS binaries as placeholders until Axone versions were available. We now use the Axone version of the SBE and HW ref images. Also for MEMD we will now just fill it in with zeroed out ECC (all FF's w/ 0 for ECC bit). No plans to use that MEMD now but setting it aside for DDIMM config overwrites. When we pulled in the new SBE image we hit issues with the VPD being used not having the correct sizes. MVPD for Axone is not complete yet so until that gets resolved we will disable sbe updates for Axone. * Add new path in EEPROM device op to allow reading from new EECACHEChristian Geddes2019-02-162-14/+30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Recently a new EECACHE section was introduced to Hostboot. This section gets populated with a copy of every PRIMARY_VPD eeprom (someday could contain other eeprom roles also) during host_discover_targets. This commit add support to allow users to select where they want to perform their EEPROM device operation. If they pass CACHE to the deviceOp macro then a read will come from the pnor cache, writes will write to pnor cache and then also write to the eeprom HW. If HARDWARE is passed in then reads and writes will be directly done on the eeprom hardware. If AUTOSELECT is passed the code will check our cache to see if we have a copy of the eeprom in question, if we have a copy we will go the CACHE path, if no copy exists we will go the HARDWARE path. Along with this change some reorganization was done w/ the eeprom related files. * Add EEPROM caching device opChristian Geddes2019-02-131-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit introduces a new EEPROM_CACHE deviceOp and registers the OCMB_CHIP, PROC, and DIMM targets to it. This is part of the larger effort to transition for a "VPD" cache to an "EEPROM" cache in pnor. The deviceOp is currently called in hwasPlat's platPresenceDetect if the target in question has a ATTR_EEPROM_VPD_PRIMARY_INFO associated with it. The layout for the new EECACHE section in pnor is defined in eepromCache_const.H. Essentially it is a header that contains an array of record headers that tell where in the EECACHE pnor section a given cached EEPROM can be found. All EEPROM targets will be allocated space in the EECACHE section but only present targets will have their cache filled in. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Simics teams were hitting a problem trying to boot older simics models because our scripts relied on $MACHINE being set to CEC_MODEL. This value gets set by linux so we cannot rely on it. Instead use the old way to lookup MODEL for older version of simics, and for new way, (axone and beyond) just force MODEL to be "AXONE" for now. Eventually simics team needs to provide interface to lookup MODEL. Also in this commit we need to write "0x5A5A5A5A" to the SBE seeprom images to avoid updates, update the simics backing build, and change the CLI args for hb startsimics in axone to no longer use -o and always pass in the path to the combined SBE image/ HBBL image Change-Id: Ib477e86b0b8aa1a4d44545c62b16fc2cbed2034b CQ: SW453806 Reviewed-on: http://rchgit01.rchland.ibm.com/gerrit1/71323 Tested-by: Jenkins Server <pfd-jenkins+hostboot@us.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: CALEB SCHLOSSIN <calebs@us.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: VIJAY F. This will not work because the section gets written to so the hash would not be very helpful. Also because the section is ECC protected it cannot be defaulted to all F's because that break the ECC rules. Instead the pattern needs to be defaulted to have 8 bytes of 0xFF followed by the ECC byte of 0x00. This follows what we did for previous ECC protected sections. * Add new pnorLayoutAxone.xml w/ new EECACHE sectionChristian Geddes2019-01-145-9/+358
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit introduces a new pnor layout which will be used when the simics_axone.config file is used. (Note: axone.config was renamed to simics_axone.config). This new layout introduces the EECACHE section which will be used to store copies of the various EEPROMS in the system. The eventual goal is to be able to remove the MVPD/DJVPD sections in PNOR and only use this EECACHE section Change-Id: Ifae610c4dd7f3aa9c87a5ca911cc4faa1ba2a98a Reviewed-on: http://rchgit01.rchland.ibm.com/gerrit1/70172 Tested-by: Jenkins Server <pfd-jenkins+hostboot@us.ibm.com> Tested-by: Jenkins OP Build CI <op-jenkins+hostboot@us.ibm.com> Tested-by: Jenkins OP HW <op-hw-jenkins+hostboot@us.ibm.com> Tested-by: FSP CI Jenkins <fsp-CI-jenkins+hostboot@us.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Matt Derksen <mderkse1@us.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Roland Veloz <rveloz@us.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Daniel M.
