+Our binutils somehow ended up with a -mfix-gs2f-kernel, rather than
+-mfix-ls2f-kernel.  Cope with it.
+Also, the old ld can't cope with thin archives very well: it fails
+to create vmlinux.o.  So, disable thin archives.
+
