* toolchain: add hidden symbol for PIE supportWaldemar Brodkorb2016-07-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | uClibc-ng does not support PIE for some architectures as arc and m68k. It isn't implemented in the static linking case, too. With musl toolchains you might have static PIE support with little patching of gcc. Static linking for GNU libc isn't enabled in buildroot. Fixup any package using special treatment of PIE. * lvm2: disable PIE on ARCAlexey Brodkin2015-07-021-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Even though ARC gcc understands "-pie" option and attempts to generate PIE binaries as of today PIE is not really supported for user-space applications. So we disable PIE detection if building for ARC. That first fixes http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/988/9888a7a30538c9851f4910c16674d8dbb8edeb8f/ and also prevents execution of non-supported PIE binary in runtime. * Rename BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB to BR2_STATIC_LIBSThomas Petazzoni2014-12-111-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since a while, the semantic of BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB has been changed from "prefer static libraries when possible" to "use only static libraries". The former semantic didn't make much sense, since the user had absolutely no control/idea of which package would use static libraries, and which packages would not. Therefore, for quite some time, we have been starting to enforce that BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB should really build everything with static libraries. As a consequence, this patch renames BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB to BR2_STATIC_LIBS, and adjust the Config.in option accordingly. This also helps preparing the addition of other options to select shared, shared+static or just static. Note that we have verified that this commit can be reproduced by simply doing a global rename of BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB to BR2_STATIC_LIBS plus adding BR2_PREFER_STATIC_LIB to Config.in.legacy. * packages: rename FOO_MAKE_OPT into FOO_MAKE_OPTSThomas De Schampheleire2014-10-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | While the autotools infrastructure was using FOO_MAKE_OPT, generic packages were typically using FOO_MAKE_OPTS. This inconsistency becomes a problem when a new infrastructure is introduced that wants to make use of FOO_MAKE_OPT(S), and can live alongside either generic-package or autotools-package. The new infrastructure will have to choose between either OPT or OPTS, and thus rule out transparent usage by respectively generic packages or generic packages. An example of such an infrastructure is kconfig-package, which provides kconfig-related make targets. The OPTS variant is more logical, as there are typically multiple options. This patch renames all occurrences of FOO_MAKE_OPT in FOO_MAKE_OPTS. * lvm2: replace !BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_DMSETUP_ONLY by ↵Arnout Vandecappelle2013-11-282-7/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_STANDARD_INSTALL BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_DMSETUP_ONLY is a "negative" option that disables build and install of part of the suite. This option cannot be unselected by other config options, which gives a problem for BR2_PACKAGE_UDISKS_LVM2: it needs BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_APP_LIBRARY, which requires the full suite. Therefore, replace the negative BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_DMSETUP_ONLY by a positive BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_STANDARD_INSTALL. To make sure that existing defconfigs keep working, the new option defaults to y unless the legacy BR2_PACKAGE_LVM2_DMSETUP_ONLY was selected. * Config.in files: add missing dependencies to toolchain option commentsThomas De Schampheleire2013-11-101-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When a package A depends on config option B and toolchain option C, then the comment that is given when C is not fulfilled should also depend on B. For example: config BR2_PACKAGE_A depends on BR2_B depends on BR2_LARGEFILE depends on BR2_WCHAR comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar" depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR This comment should actually be: comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar" depends on BR2_B depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR or if possible (typically when B is a package config option declared in that same Config.in file): if BR2_B comment "A needs a toolchain w/ largefile, wchar" depends on !BR2_LARGEFILE || !BR2_WCHAR [other config options depending on B] endif Otherwise, the comment would be visible even though the other dependencies are not met. This patch adds such missing dependencies, and changes existing such dependencies from depends on BR2_BASE_DEP && !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC to depends on BR2_BASE_DEP depends on !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC so that (positive) base dependencies are separate from the (negative) toolchain dependencies. This strategy makes it easier to write such comments (because one can simply copy the base dependency from the actual package config option), but also avoids complex and long boolean expressions.
