* perf record: Make per-cpu mmaps the default.Adrian Hunter2013-11-271-1/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This affects the -p, -t and -u options that previously defaulted to per-thread mmaps. Consequently add an option to select per-thread mmaps to support the old behaviour. Note that per-thread can be used with a workload-only (i.e. none of -p, -t, -u, -a or -C is selected) to get a per-thread mmap with no inheritance. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Getting unwieldly long, for this app domain should be descriptive enough and the use of __ to separate the class from the method names should help with avoiding clashes with other code bases. * perf tools: use XSI-complaint version of strerror_r() instead of GNU-specificKirill A. Shutemov2012-07-251-1/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Perf uses GNU-specific version of strerror_r(). The GNU-specific strerror_r() returns a pointer to a string containing the error message. This may be either a pointer to a string that the function stores in buf, or a pointer to some (immutable) static string (in which case buf is unused). In glibc-2.16 GNU version was marked with attribute warn_unused_result. It triggers few warnings in perf: util/target.c: In function ‘perf_target__strerror’: util/target.c:114:13: error: ignoring return value of ‘strerror_r’, declared with attribute warn_unused_result [-Werror=unused-result] ui/browsers/hists.c: In function ‘hist_browser__dump’: ui/browsers/hists.c:981:13: error: ignoring return value of ‘strerror_r’, declared with attribute warn_unused_result [-Werror=unused-result] They are bugs. Let's fix strerror_r() usage. Signed-off-by: Kirill A. * perf tools: Introduce perf_target__strerror()Namhyung Kim2012-05-071-0/+51
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The perf_target__strerror() sets @buf to a string that describes the (perf_target-specific) error condition that is passed via @errnum. This is similar to strerror_r() and does same thing if @errnum has a standard errno value.
