* mac80211: update opmode when adding new stationMarek Kwaczynski2014-02-051-7/+19
| | | | | | | | | | Update the operating mode field is needed when an association request contains the operating mode notification element and it's not just changed later on the fly. * mac80211: enable easier manipulation of VHT beamforming capsEyal Shapira2013-11-251-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Introduce shift and mask defines for beamformee STS cap and number of sounding dimensions cap as these can take any 3 bit value. While at it also cleanup an unrequired parenthesis. * ieee80211: fix vht cap definitionsEliad Peller2013-10-011-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | VHT_CAP_BEAMFORMER_ANTENNAS cap is actually defined in the draft as VHT_CAP_BEAMFORMEE_STS_MAX, and its size is 3 bits long. VHT_CAP_SOUNDING_DIMENSIONS is also 3 bits long. Fix the definitions and change the cap masking accordingly. Signed-off-by: Eliad Peller <eliad@wizery.com> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

* mac80211: restrict peer's VHT capabilities to ownJohannes Berg2013-03-061-1/+113
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement restricting peer VHT capabilities to the device's own capabilities. This is useful when a single driver supports more than one device and the devices have different capabilities (often they will differ in the number of spatial streams), but in particular is also necessary for VHT capability overrides to work correctly -- otherwise it'd be possible to e.g. advertise, due to overrides, that TX-STBC is not supported, but then still use it to TX to the AP because it supports RX-STBC. * mac80211: support VHT capability overridesJohannes Berg2013-03-061-0/+98
| | | | | | | Support the cfg80211 API to override VHT capabilities on association. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
* mac80211: constify IE parsingJohannes Berg2013-02-151-4/+5

* mac80211: handle operating mode notif in beacon/assoc responseJohannes Berg2013-02-151-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | In beacons and association response frames an AP may include an operating mode notification element to advertise changes in the number of spatial streams it can receive. Handle this using the existing function that handles the action frame, but only handle NSS changes, not bandwidth changes which aren't allowed here. * mac80211: handle VHT operating mode notificationJohannes Berg2013-02-151-10/+83
| | | | | | | | Handle the operating mode notification action frame. When the supported streams or the bandwidth change let the driver and rate control algorithm know. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
* mac80211: track number of spatial streamsJohannes Berg2013-02-151-0/+41
| | | | | | | | | | With VHT, a station can change the number of spatial streams it can receive on the fly, not unlike spatial multiplexing in HT. Prepare for that by tracking the maximum number of spatial streams it can receive when the connection is established. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
* mac80211: stop toggling IEEE80211_HT_CAP_SUP_WIDTH_20_40Johannes Berg2013-02-151-0/+39
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For VHT, many more bandwidth changes are possible. As a first step, stop toggling the IEEE80211_HT_CAP_SUP_WIDTH_20_40 flag in the HT capabilities and instead introduce a bandwidth field indicating the currently usable bandwidth to transmit to the station. Of course, make all drivers use it. To achieve this, make ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() get the station as an argument, rather than the new capabilities, so it can set up the new bandwidth field. If the station is a VHT station and VHT bandwidth is in use, also set the bandwidth accordingly. Doing this allows us to get rid of the supports_40mhz flag as the HT capabilities now reflect the true capability instead of the current setting. While at it, also fix ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() to not ignore HT cap overrides when MCS TX isn't supported (not that it really happens...) * mac80211: pass station to ieee80211_vht_cap_ie_to_sta_vht_capJohannes Berg2013-02-151-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | Like with HT, make things a bit simpler in future patches by passing the station to ieee80211_vht_cap_ie_to_sta_vht_cap() instead of the vht_cap pointer. Also disable VHT here if HT isn't supported. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
* mac80211: VHT peer STA capsMahesh Palivela2012-10-171-0/+35
Save the AP's VHT capabilities (in managed mode) and make them available to the driver in the station information. Unlike HT capabilities, they aren't restricted to the common capabilities, so drivers must be aware of their own capabilities.
