* mac80211: New stat counters for multicast and unicast forwarded framesDaniel Walker2009-08-201-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | This expands on the current fwded_frames stat counter which should be equal to the total of these two new counters. The new counters are called "fwded_mcast" and "fwded_unicast". * mac80211: Decouple fail_avg stats used by mesh from rate control algorithm.Javier Cardona2009-08-201-0/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Mesh uses the tx failure average to compute the (m)path metric. This used to be done inside the rate control module. This patch breaks the dependency between the mesh stack and the rate control algorithm. Mesh will now work independently of the chosen rate control algorithm. The mesh stack keeps a moving average of the average transmission losses for each mesh peer station. If the fail average exceeds a certain threshold, the peer link is marked as broken. * mac80211: Mark a destination sequence number as valid when a PREQ is received.David Woo2009-08-141-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | If a PREQ frame is received giving us a fresher DSN than what we have, record the new dsn and mark it as valid. This patch fixes a bug in the setting of the MESH_PATH_DSN_VALID flag. Also, minor fix to coding style on that file. Signed-off-by: Javier Cardona <javier@cozybit.com> Signed-off-by: John W. * mac80211: Use correct sign for mesh active path refresh.Andrey Yurovsky2009-08-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | On locally originated traffic, we refresh active paths after a timeout. The decision to do this was using the wrong sign and therefore the refresh timer was triggered for every frame. * mac80211: fix compilation of mesh (although its disabled)Luis R. Rodriguez2009-08-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Mesh is currently disabled on mac80211, its marked as broken. This patch gets it to compile though, to account for the mac80211 workqueue changes. There was a simple typo in the patches for mesh for the workqueue migration, but we never compile tested it as we couldn't even select mesh as its broken. Lets at least let it compile for those interested in getting it fixed. Reported-by: Pat Erley <pat-lkml@erley.org> Signed-off-by: Luis R. Rodriguez <lrodriguez@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W. * mac80211: redefine usage of the mac80211 workqueueLuis R. Rodriguez2009-08-041-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The mac80211 workqueue exists to enable mac80211 and drivers to queue their own work on a single threaded workqueue. mac80211 takes care to flush the workqueue during suspend but we never really had requirements on drivers for how they should use the workqueue in consideration for suspend. We extend mac80211 to document how the mac80211 workqueue should be used, how it should not be used and finally move raw access to the workqueue to mac80211 only. Drivers and mac80211 use helpers to queue work onto the mac80211 workqueue: * ieee80211_queue_work() * ieee80211_queue_delayed_work() These helpers will now warn if mac80211 already completed its suspend cycle and someone is trying to queue work. mac80211 flushes the mac80211 workqueue prior to suspend a few times, but we haven't taken the care to ensure drivers won't add more work after suspend. To help with this we add a warning when someone tries to add work and mac80211 already completed the suspend cycle. Drivers should ensure they cancel any work or delayed work in the mac80211 stop() callback. Signed-off-by: Luis R. Rodriguez <lrodriguez@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W. * mac80211: Fix regression in mesh forwarding path.Javier Cardona2009-07-241-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The removal of the master netdev broke the mesh forwarding path. This patch fixes it by using the new internal 'pending' queue. As a result of this change, mesh forwarding no longer does the inefficient 802.11 -> 802.3 -> 802.11 conversion that was done before. [Changes since v1] Suggested by Johannes: - Select queue before adding to mpath queue - ieee80211_add_pending_skb -> ieee80211_add_pending_skbs - Remove unnecessary header wme.h Signed-off-by: Javier Cardona <javier@cozybit.com> Signed-off-by: Andrey Yurovsky <andrey@cozybit.com> Reviewed-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. * mac80211: cancel/restart all timers across suspend/resumeJohannes Berg2009-05-201-1/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We forgot to cancel all timers in mac80211 when suspending. In particular we forgot to deal with some things that can cause hardware reconfiguration -- while it is down. While at it we go ahead and add a warning in ieee80211_sta_work() if its run while the suspend->resume cycle is in effect. This should not happen and if it does it would indicate there is a bug lurking in either mac80211 or mac80211 drivers. With this now wpa_supplicant doesn't blink when I go to suspend and resume where as before there where issues with some timers running during the suspend->resume cycle. This caused a lot of incorrect assumptions and would at times bring back the device in an incoherent, but mostly recoverable, state. Signed-off-by: Luis R. * mac80211/drivers: rewrite the rate control APIJohannes Berg2008-10-311-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | So after the previous changes we were still unhappy with how convoluted the API is and decided to make things simpler for everybody. This completely changes the rate control API, now taking into account 802.11n with MCS rates and more control, most drivers don't support that though. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch replaces net_device arguments to mac80211 internal functions with ieee80211_{local,sub_if_data} as appropriate. It also does the same for many 802.11s mesh functions, and changes the mesh path table to be indexed on sub_if_data rather than net_device. If the mesh part needs to be a separate patch let me know, but since mesh uses a lot of mac80211 functions which were being converted anyway, the changes go hand-in-hand somewhat. This patch probably does not convert all the functions which could be converted, but it is a large chunk and followup patches will be provided. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now we deal with mesh forwarding before the 802.11->802.3 conversion, thus eliminating a few unnecessary steps. The next hop lookup is called from ieee80211_master_start_xmit() instead of subif_start_xmit(). Until the next hop is found, RA in the frame will be all zeroes for frames originating from the device. For forwarded frames, RA will contain the TA of the received frame, which will be necessary to send a path error if a next hop is not found. However, it's not a true RCU, the copy step is missing: whenever somebody changes a STA item it is simply updated. This is an existing race condition that is now somewhat understandable. * mac80211: code for on-demand Hybrid Wireless Mesh ProtocolLuis Carlos Cobo2008-03-061-0/+862
This file implements the on-demand Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol, at this moment using hop-count as the metric. When no mesh path exists for a given destination or the mesh path is not active, frames addressed to that destination will be queued and a Path Request frame will be sent. Queued frames will be sent when the path is resolved (usually after reception of a Path Response) or discarded if discovery times out. Path Requests will also be sent to refresh paths that are being used and are close to expiring. Path Errors are sent when a path discovery process triggered by the attempt to forward a frame originated in a different mesh point times out. Path Errors are also sent when a peer link is determined to be unreachable because of high error rates. Multiple destination support in Path Requests and Path Errors and precursors have not been implemented yet.
