* x86: merge smp_32.h and smp_64.h into smp.hGlauber Costa2008-04-171-11/+0
| | | | | | | | Merge what's left from smp_32.h and smp_64.h into smp.h By now, they're basically extern definitions. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: merge SMP definitions of smp.hGlauber Costa2008-04-171-27/+0
| | | | | | | | | we merge everything that is inside CONFIG_SMP to smp.h. They differ a little bit, so we use CONFIG_X86_32_SMP and CONFIG_X86_64_SMP as markers. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: split safe_smp_processor_idGlauber Costa2008-04-171-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | This implementation in x86_64 is clean and consistent, but we sacrifice it for the sake of being equal to i386 (since the other way around would be harder). Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: merge includes in smp.hGlauber Costa2008-04-171-16/+0
| | | | | | | move all include directives from smp_{32,64}.h to smp.h. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: surround apic headers in apic definitionsGlauber Costa2008-04-171-3/+7
| | | | | | | | | | Although those constants are always defined in x86_64, and will have the effect of just including the headers in the very way we did before, I'm doing this in a separate patch to be conservative and avoid surprises. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: merge hard/logical_smp_processor_idGlauber Costa2008-04-171-27/+0
| | | | | | | | | | The code is now the same between i386 and x86_64. We already know what happens when it reaches this point: They go away from the arch-specific headers, and suddenly appears in the common header. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: provide bogus hard_smp_processor_idGlauber Costa2008-04-171-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | We provide a bogus macro for x86_64 in case CONFIG_X86_LOCAL_APIC is not set. It will always be set for x86_64, so the effect is just to make the code equal to i386. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: surround hard_smp_processor_id in APIC_DEFINITIONGlauber Costa2008-04-171-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | APIC_DEFINITION is not defined in x86_64, so in practice, we keep our old code here. But as a nice side effect, the code is now equal to smp_32.h. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>

* x86: change boot_cpu_id to boot_cpu_physical_apicidGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-04-171-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | This is to match i386. The former name was cuter, but the current is more meaningful and more general, since cpu_id can be a logical id. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: include mach_apic.h in smpboot_64.c and smpboot.cGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-04-171-8/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | After the inclusion, a lot of files needs fixing for conflicts, some of them in the headers themselves, to accomodate for both i386 and x86_64 versions. [ mingo@elte.hu: build fix ] Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: unify extern masks declarationGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-04-171-11/+0
| | | | | | | take them off smp_{32,64}.h and move to smp.h Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: unify setup_trampolineGlauber Costa2008-04-171-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | setup_trampoline() looks very similar between architectures, and this patch unifies them. The i386 version allocates bootmem memory, while the x86_64 version uses a fixed address. In this patch, we initialize the global trampoline_base to the x86_64 version, and i386 allocation can later override it. * x86: merge __cpu_disable and cpu_dieGlauber Costa2008-04-171-3/+0
| | | | | | | They are now equal, and are moved to a common file Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: move equal types to common fileGlauber Costa2008-04-171-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | move definitions that are now equal in type from smpboot_{32,64}.c to smpboot.c cpu_callin_map is put temporarily in smp_64.h (already exists in smp_32.h), and will soon be merged. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: move prefill_possible_map to common fileGlauber Costa2008-04-171-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | this patches moves prefill_possible_map() to smpboot.c Right now it is x86_64-specific, but nothing intrinsically prevents it to be used by i386 Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: move disabled_cpus to common headerGlauber Costa2008-04-171-1/+0
| | | | | | | | disabled_cpus is (up to now) a x86_64-only contruction. But it's extern declaration can be moved to common header anyway Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: merge smp_send_rescheduleGlauber Costa2008-04-171-2/+0
| | | | | | | | function definition is moved to common header, x86_64 version is now called native_smp_send_reschedule Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: merge extern variables definitionsGlauber Costa2008-04-171-4/+0
| | | | | | | | move extern definitions that are the same between smp_{32,64}.h to smp.h Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>

* x86: change bios_cpu_apicid to percpu data variabletravis@sgi.com2008-01-301-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change static bios_cpu_apicid array to a per_cpu data variable. This includes using a static array used during initialization similar to the way x86_cpu_to_apicid[] is handled. There is one early use of bios_cpu_apicid in apic_is_clustered_box(). The other reference in cpu_present_to_apicid() is called after smp_set_apicids() has setup the percpu version of bios_cpu_apicid. * x86: change size of APICIDs from u8 to u16travis@sgi.com2008-01-301-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change the size of APICIDs from u8 to u16. This partially supports the new x2apic mode that will be present on future processor chips. (Chips actually support 32-bit APICIDs, but that change is more intrusive. Supporting 16-bit is sufficient for now). Signed-off-by: Jack Steiner <steiner@sgi.com> I've included just the partial change from u8 to u16 apicids. The remaining x2apic changes will be in a separate patch. In addition, the fake_node_to_pxm_map[] and fake_apicid_to_node[] tables have been moved from local data to the __initdata section reducing stack pressure when MAX_NUMNODES and MAX_LOCAL_APIC are increased in size. * x86: convert cpu_llc_id to be a per cpu variableMike Travis2007-10-191-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert cpu_llc_id from a static array sized by NR_CPUS to a per_cpu variable. This saves sizeof(cpu_llc_id) * NR unused cpus. Access is mostly from startup and CPU HOTPLUG functions. Note there's an additional change of the type of cpu_llc_id from int to u8 for ARCH i386 to correspond with the same type in ARCH x86_64. * x86: convert cpu_to_apicid to be a per cpu variableMike Travis2007-10-191-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch converts the x86_cpu_to_apicid array to be a per cpu variable. This saves sizeof(apicid) * NR unused cpus. Access is mostly from startup and CPU HOTPLUG functions. MP_processor_info() is one of the functions that require access to the x86_cpu_to_apicid array before the per_cpu data area is setup. For this case, a pointer to the __initdata array is initialized in setup_arch() and removed in smp_prepare_cpus() after the per_cpu data area is initialized. A second change is included to change the initial array value of ARCH i386 from 0xff to BAD_APICID to be consistent with ARCH x86_64. * x86: implement missing x86_64 function smp_call_function_mask()Laurent Vivier2007-10-191-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch defines the missing function smp_call_function_mask() for x86_64, this is more or less a cut&paste of i386 function. It removes also some duplicate code. * x86: Convert cpu_core_map to be a per cpu variableMike Travis2007-10-161-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is from an earlier message from 'Christoph Lameter': cpu_core_map is currently an array defined using NR_CPUS. This means that we overallocate since we will rarely really use maximum configured cpu. If we put the cpu_core_map into the per cpu area then it will be allocated for each processor as it comes online. This means that the core map cannot be accessed until the per cpu area has been allocated. Xen does a weird thing here looping over all processors and zeroing the masks that are not yet allocated and that will be zeroed when they are allocated. I commented the code out.
