* [PATCH] hrtimer: switch itimers to hrtimerThomas Gleixner2006-01-101-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | switch itimers to a hrtimers-based implementation Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] s390: cleanup KconfigMartin Schwidefsky2006-01-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Sanitize some s390 Kconfig options. We have ARCH_S390, ARCH_S390X, ARCH_S390_31, 64BIT, S390_SUPPORT and COMPAT. Replace these 6 options by S390, 64BIT and COMPAT. * [PATCH] mm: rss = file_rss + anon_rssHugh Dickins2005-10-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I was lazy when we added anon_rss, and chose to change as few places as possible. So currently each anonymous page has to be counted twice, in rss and in anon_rss. Which won't be so good if those are atomic counts in some configurations. Change that around: keep file_rss and anon_rss separately, and add them together (with get_mm_rss macro) when the total is needed - reading two atomics is much cheaper than updating two atomics. And update anon_rss upfront, typically in memory.c, not tucked away in page_add_anon_rmap. * [PATCH] files: fix preemption issuesDipankar Sarma2005-09-171-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | With the new fdtable locking rules, you have to protect fdtable with either ->file_lock or rcu_read_lock/unlock(). There are some places where we aren't doing either. This patch fixes those places. Signed-off-by: Dipankar Sarma <dipankar@in.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] files: break up files structDipankar Sarma2005-09-091-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In order for the RCU to work, the file table array, sets and their sizes must be updated atomically. Instead of ensuring this through too many memory barriers, we put the arrays and their sizes in a separate structure. This patch takes the first step of putting the file table elements in a separate structure fdtable that is embedded withing files_struct. It also changes all the users to refer to the file table using files_fdtable() macro. Subsequent applciation of RCU becomes easier after this. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
