* skge: Enable WoL by default if supportedRafael J. Wysocki2009-07-221-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | If skge hardware is capable of waking up the system from sleep, enable magic packet WoL during driver initialisation. This makes WoL work without calling 'ethtool -s ethX wol g' for each adapter. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rjw@sisk.pl> Tested-by: Michael Guntsche <mike@it-loops.com> Acked-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* net: dont update dev->trans_startEric Dumazet2009-05-291-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Second round of drivers for Gb cards (and NIU one I forgot in the 10GB round) Now that core network takes care of trans_start updates, dont do it in drivers themselves, if possible. Drivers can avoid one cache miss (on dev->trans_start) in their start_xmit() handler. Exceptions are NETIF_F_LLTX drivers Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* skge: fix occasional BUG during MTU changeMichal Schmidt2009-04-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The BUG_ON(skge->tx_ring.to_use != skge->tx_ring.to_clean) in skge_up() was sometimes observed when setting MTU. skge_down() disables the TX queue, but then reenables it by mistake via skge_tx_clean(). Fix it by moving the waking of the queue from skge_tx_clean() to the other caller. And to make sure start_xmit is not in progress on another CPU, skge_down() should call netif_tx_disable(). The bug was reported to me by Jiri Jilek whose Debian system sometimes failed to boot. He tested the patch and the bug did not happen anymore. * net: Remove redundant NAPI functionsBen Hutchings2009-01-211-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Following the removal of the unused struct net_device * parameter from the NAPI functions named *netif_rx_* in commit 908a7a1, they are exactly equivalent to the corresponding *napi_* functions and are therefore redundant. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Acked-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* net: Remove unused netdev arg from some NAPI interfaces.Neil Horman2008-12-221-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | When the napi api was changed to separate its 1:1 binding to the net_device struct, the netif_rx_[prep|schedule|complete] api failed to remove the now vestigual net_device structure parameter. This patch cleans up that api by properly removing it.. Signed-off-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* netdev: add more functions to netdevice opsStephen Hemminger2008-11-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves neigh_setup and hard_start_xmit into the network device ops structure. For bisection, fix all the previously converted drivers as well. Bonding driver took the biggest hit on this. Added a prefetch of the hard_start_xmit in the fast path to try and reduce any impact this would have. * drivers/net: Kill now superfluous ->last_rx stores.David S. Miller2008-11-031-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The generic packet receive code takes care of setting netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the bonding ARP monitor. Drivers need not do it any more. Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* skge: adapt skge to use reworked PCI PMRafael J. Wysocki2008-10-311-27/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Adapt the skge driver to the reworked PCI PM * Use device_set_wakeup_enable() and friends as needed * Remove an open-coded reference to the standard PCI PM registers * Use pci_prepare_to_sleep() and pci_back_from_sleep() in the ->suspend() and ->resume() callbacks * Use the observation that it is sufficient to call pci_enable_wake() once, unless it fails Tested on Asus L5D (Yukon-Lite rev 7). * skge: MTU changing fixStephen Hemminger2007-12-011-33/+2

* skge: FIFO Ram calculation errorStephen Hemminger2007-12-011-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | The calculation of usable FIFO RAM is wrong in the skge driver. First, is doesn't take into account the reserved area on the original SysKonnect Genesis boards. Second it has an off-by-one error because hw->ports is either 1 or 2. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org>
* Revert "skge: fix ram buffer size calculation"Linus Torvalds2007-11-151-24/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This reverts commit 7fb7ac241162dc51ec0f7644d4a97b2855213c32. Heikki Orsila reports that it causes a regression: "Doing nc host port < /dev/zero on a sending machine (not skge) to an skge machine that is receiving: nc -l -p port >/dev/null with ~60 MiB/s speed, causes the interface go malfunct. A slow transfer doesn't cause a problem." See http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9321 for some more information. There is a workaround (also reported by Heikki): "After some fiddling, I noticed that not changing the register write order on patch: + skge_write32(hw, RB_ADDR(q, RB_END), end); skge_write32(hw, RB_ADDR(q, RB_WP), start); skge_write32(hw, RB_ADDR(q, RB_RP), start); - skge_write32(hw, RB_ADDR(q, RB_END), end); fixes the visible effect.. Possibly not the root cause of the problem, but changing the order back fixes networking here." but that has yet to be ack'ed or tested more widely, so the whole problem-causing commit gets reverted until this is resolved properly. * [ETHTOOL] Provide default behaviors for a few ethtool sub-ioctlsJeff Garzik2007-10-101-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For the operations get-tx-csum get-sg get-tso get-ufo the default ethtool_op_xxx behavior is fine for all drivers, so we permit op==NULL to imply the default behavior. This provides a more uniform behavior across all drivers, eliminating ethtool(8) "ioctl not supported" errors on older drivers that had not been updated for the latest sub-ioctls. The ethtool_op_xxx() functions are left exported, in case anyone wishes to call them directly from a driver-private implementation -- a not-uncommon case. Should an ethtool_op_xxx() helper remain unused for a while, except by net/core/ethtool.c, we can un-export it at a later date. * [NET]: Make NAPI polling independent of struct net_device objects.Stephen Hemminger2007-10-101-24/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Several devices have multiple independant RX queues per net device, and some have a single interrupt doorbell for several queues. In either case, it's easier to support layouts like that if the structure representing the poll is independant from the net device itself. The signature of the ->poll() call back goes from: int foo_poll(struct net_device *dev, int *budget) to int foo_poll(struct napi_struct *napi, int budget) The caller is returned the number of RX packets processed (or the number of "NAPI credits" consumed if you want to get abstract). The callee no longer messes around bumping dev->quota, *budget, etc. because that is all handled in the caller upon return. The napi_struct is to be embedded in the device driver private data structures. Furthermore, it is the driver's responsibility to disable all NAPI instances in it's ->stop() device close handler. Since the napi_struct is privatized into the driver's private data structures, only the driver knows how to get at all of the napi_struct instances it may have per-device. With lots of help and suggestions from Rusty Russell, Roland Dreier, Michael Chan, Jeff Garzik, and Jamal Hadi Salim. Bug fixes from Thomas Graf, Roland Dreier, Peter Zijlstra, Joseph Fannin, Scott Wood, Hans J. Koch, and Michael Chan. [ Ported to current tree and all drivers converted.
