* cxgb4: Free completed tx skbs promptlyHariprasad Shenai2014-08-211-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Description of problem: The NIC card is not reporting back to the driver the transmitted skbs, so they get stuck in the TX ring causing issues with reference counters in other kernel components. Developed a new Automatic Egress Queue Update firmware facility to slowly tick through Egress Queues and send back any outstanding CIDX Updates which are laying around. * PCI: Remove DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE macro useBenoit Taine2014-08-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We should prefer `struct pci_device_id` over `DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE` to meet kernel coding style guidelines. This issue was reported by checkpatch. A simplified version of the semantic patch that makes this change is as follows (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/): // <smpl> @@ identifier i; declarer name DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE; initializer z; @@ - DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE(i) + const struct pci_device_id i[] = z; // </smpl> [bhelgaas: add semantic patch] Signed-off-by: Benoit Taine <benoit.taine@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Newer firmware can post CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE message encapsulated in a CPL_FW4_MSG as follows flit0 rss_header (if DropRSS == 0 in IQ context) flit1 CPL_FW4_MSG cpl flit2 rss_header w/opcode CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE flit3 CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE cpl So FW4_MSG CPLs with a newly created type of FW_TYPE_RSSCPL have the CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE CPL message in flit 2 of the FW4_MSG. Firmware can still post regular CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE messages, so the drivers need to handle both. This patch also writes a new parameter to firmware requesting encapsulated EGR_UPDATE. * netvm: propagate page->pfmemalloc from skb_alloc_page to skbMel Gorman2012-07-311-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The skb->pfmemalloc flag gets set to true iff during the slab allocation of data in __alloc_skb that the the PFMEMALLOC reserves were used. If page splitting is used, it is possible that pages will be allocated from the PFMEMALLOC reserve without propagating this information to the skb. This patch propagates page->pfmemalloc from pages allocated for fragments to the skb. It works by reintroducing and expanding the skb_alloc_page() API to take an skb. If the page was allocated from pfmemalloc reserves, it is automatically copied. If the driver allocates the page before the skb, it should call skb_propagate_pfmemalloc() after the skb is allocated to ensure the flag is copied properly. Failure to do so is not critical. The resulting driver may perform slower if it is used for swap-over-NBD or swap-over-NFS but it should not result in failure. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Auditing all usage of ethtool_ops found several drivers that are not declaring the struct const when it should be. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Given we dont use anymore the struct net_device *dev argument, and this interface brings litle benefit, remove netdev_{alloc|free}_page(), to debloat include/linux/skbuff.h a bit. (Some drivers used a mix of these interfaces and alloc_pages()) When allocating a page given to device for DMA transfer (device to memory), it makes sense to use a cold one (__GFP_COLD) Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> CC: Jeff Kirsher <jeffrey.t.kirsher@intel.com> CC: Dimitris Michailidis <dm@chelsio.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: add skb frag size accessorsEric Dumazet2011-10-191-13/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | To ease skb->truesize sanitization, its better to be able to localize all references to skb frags size. Define accessors : skb_frag_size() to fetch frag size, and skb_frag_size_{set|add|sub}() to manipulate it. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: introduce IFF_UNICAST_FLT private flagJiri Pirko2011-08-171-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use IFF_UNICAST_FTL to find out if driver handles unicast address filtering. In case it does not, promisc mode is entered. Patch also fixes following drivers: stmmac, niu: support uc filtering and yet it propagated ndo_set_multicast_list bna, benet, pxa168_eth, ks8851, ks8851_mll, ksz884x : has set ndo_set_rx_mode but do not support uc filtering Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jpirko@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
