| * V4L/DVB (3568k): zoran: Use i2c_master_send when possibleJean Delvare2006-03-231-10/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change all the Zoran (ZR36050/ZR36060) drivers to use i2c_master_send instead of i2c_transfer when possible. This simplifies the code by a few lines in each driver. * | [PATCH] I2C: Drop unneeded i2c-dev.h includesJean Delvare2006-03-231-1/+0
|/ | | | | | | | | | | Several media/video and sound drivers include i2c-dev.h while they don't need it at all. Clean it up. This header file is really only needed by i2c-dev.c and compat_ioctl.c, other drivers should never need it. * [PATCH] I2C: Remove .owner setting from i2c_driver as it's no longer neededGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-01-051-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | Now that i2c_add_driver() doesn't need the module owner to be set by hand, we can delete it from the drivers. This patch catches all of the drivers that I found in the current tree (if a driver sets the .owner by hand, it's not a problem, just not needed.) * [PATCH] i2c: Drop i2c_driver.{owner,name}, 5 of 11Laurent Riffard2006-01-051-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | We should use the i2c_driver.driver's .name and .owner fields instead of the i2c_driver's ones. This patch updates the drivers/media/video and usb/media drivers. * [PATCH] i2c: Rework client usage count, 2 of 3Jean Delvare2006-01-051-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | Make I2C_CLIENT_ALLOW_USE the default for all i2c clients. It doesn't hurt if the usage count is actually never used for any given driver, and allows for nice code simplifications in i2c-core. * [PATCH] i2c: Drop i2c_driver.flags, 2 of 3Jean Delvare2006-01-051-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Just about every i2c chip driver sets the I2C_DF_NOTIFY flag, so we can simply make it the default and drop the flag. If any driver really doesn't want to be notified when i2c adapters are added, that driver can simply omit to set .attach_adapter. This approach is also more robust as it prevents accidental NULL pointer dereferences. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] Remove non-arch consumers of asm/segment.hKumar Gala2005-09-071-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | asm/segment.h varies greatly on different architectures but is clearly deprecated. Removing all non-architecture consumers will make it easier for us to get ride of asm/segment.h all together. * [PATCH] hwmon: hwmon vs i2c, second round (01/11)Jean Delvare2005-09-051-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add support for kind-forced addresses to i2c_probe, like i2c_detect has for (essentially) hardware monitoring drivers. Note that this change will slightly increase the size of the drivers using I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD, with no immediate benefit. This is a requirement if we want to merge i2c_probe and i2c_detect though, and seems a reasonable price to pay in comparison with the previous cleanups which saved much more than that (such as the i2c-isa cleanup or the i2c address ranges removal.) * [PATCH] I2C: Merge unused address lists in some video driversJean Delvare2005-06-211-6/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On top of my previous patch which removes the use of address ranges in video i2c drivers, this one can save an additional few bytes of memory. Most of these drivers which do not use I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD initialize the unused address lists in a less than optimal way. This patch simply optimizes this, by using a single one-element list instead of 3 different lists with two elements each. This saves an average 63 bytes on these drivers. * [PATCH] I2C: Kill address ranges in non-sensors i2c chip driversJean Delvare2005-06-211-6/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some months ago, you killed the address ranges mechanism from all sensors i2c chip drivers (both the module parameters and the in-code address lists). I think it was a very good move, as the ranges can easily be replaced by individual addresses, and this allowed for significant cleanups in the i2c core (let alone the impressive size shrink for all these drivers). Unfortunately you did not do the same for non-sensors i2c chip drivers. These need the address ranges even less, so we could get rid of the ranges here as well for another significant i2c core cleanup. Here comes a patch which does just that. Since the process is exactly the same as what you did for the other drivers set already, I did not split this one in parts. A documentation update is included. The change saves 308 bytes in the i2c core, and an average 1382 bytes for chip drivers which use I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD, 126 bytes for those which do not. This change is required if we want to merge the sensors and non-sensors i2c code (and we want to do this). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
