The icn, act2000 and pcbit drivers are all for very old hardware,
and it is highly unlikely that anyone is actually still using them
on modern kernels, if at all.
All three drivers apparently are for hardware that predates PCI
being the common connector, as they are ISA-only and active
PCI ISDN cards were widely available in the 1990s.
Looking through the git logs, it I cannot find any indication of a
patch to any of these drivers that has been tested on real hardware,
only cleanups or global API changes.

The icn driver currently produces an unconditional #warning whenever
we build it, introduced by Karsten Keil back in 2003:
#warning TODO test headroom or use skb->nb to flag ACK
Karsten's original commit (from BitKeeper) contains this description:
- here are lot of bugs left, so ISDN is not stable yet but
I think it's really time to fix it, even if it need some cycles
to get it right (normally I'm only send patches if it works 100% for
me).
- I add some additional #warnings to address places which need fixing
(I hope that some of the other ISDN developer jump in)
Apparently this has not happened, and it is unlikely that it ever will,
given that the driver doesn't seem to work. No substantial bug fixes
other than janitorial cleanups have happened in the driver since then,
and I see no indication that anyone who patched it had the hardware.
We should probably either remove the driver, or remove all of i4l,
but for now, this shuts up the distracting #warning by turning it
into a comment.

This buffer over was detected using static analysis:
drivers/isdn/icn/icn.c:1325 icn_command()
error: format string overflow. buf_size: 60 length: 98
The calculation for the length of the string is off because it assumes
that the dial[] buffer holds a 50 character string, but actually it is
at most 31 characters and NUL. I have removed the dial[] buffer because
it isn't needed.
The maximum length of the string is actually 79 characters and a NUL. I
have made the cbuf[] array large enough to hold it and changed the
sprintf() to an snprintf() as a further safety enhancement.

[ 16.181181] panic occurred, switching back to text console
Looking into it I found that the stack was corrupted by the assignment
of the Rev #. The variable rev is given 10 bytes, and in this output the
characters that were copied was: " 1.65.6.8 $". Which was 11 characters
plus the null ending character for a total of 12 bytes, thus corrupting
the stack.
This patch ups the variable size to 20 bytes as well as changes the
strcpy to strncpy. I also added a check to make sure '$' is found.

implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.
http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py
The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).
* x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
* powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
* sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
* ia64 SMP allmodconfig
* s390 SMP allmodconfig
* alpha SMP allmodconfig
* um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig
8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

First thing mm.h does is including sched.h solely for can_do_mlock() inline
function which has "current" dereference inside. By dealing with can_do_mlock()
mm.h can be detached from sched.h which is good. See below, why.
This patch
a) removes unconditional inclusion of sched.h from mm.h
b) makes can_do_mlock() normal function in mm/mlock.c
c) exports can_do_mlock() to not break compilation
d) adds sched.h inclusions back to files that were getting it indirectly.
e) adds less bloated headers to some files (asm/signal.h, jiffies.h) that were
getting them indirectly
Net result is:
a) mm.h users would get less code to open, read, preprocess, parse, ... if
they don't need sched.h
b) sched.h stops being dependency for significant number of files:
on x86_64 allmodconfig touching sched.h results in recompile of 4083 files,
after patch it's only 3744 (-8.3%).

This patch removes almost all inclusions of linux/version.h. The 3
#defines are unused in most of the touched files.
A few drivers use the simple KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) macro, which is
unfortunatly in linux/version.h.
There are also lots of #ifdef for long obsolete kernels, this was not
touched. In a few places, the linux/version.h include was move to where
the LINUX_VERSION_CODE was used.

This is part of the grand scheme to eliminate the qlen
member of skb_queue_head, and subsequently remove the
'list' member of sk_buff.
Most users of skb_queue_len() want to know if the queue is
empty or not, and that's trivially done with skb_queue_empty()
which doesn't use the skb_queue_head->qlen member and instead
uses the queue list emptyness as the test.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
