* char: hw_random: drop owner assignment from platform_driversWolfram Sang2014-10-201-1/+0

* hwrng: n2-drv - Introduce the use of the managed version of kzallocHimangi Saraogi2014-05-131-17/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves data allocated using kzalloc to managed data allocated using devm_kzalloc and cleans now unnecessary kfrees in probe and remove functions. The NULL assignment to np->units is removed as there is no interaction between this field and sun4v_hvapi_unregister. Also, the labels out_free_units and out_free are removed as they are no longer required. The following Coccinelle semantic patch was used for making the change: @platform@ identifier p, probefn, removefn; @@ struct platform_driver p = { .probe = probefn, .remove = removefn, }; @prb@ identifier platform.probefn, pdev; expression e, e1, e2; @@ probefn(struct platform_device *pdev, ...) { <+... - e = kzalloc(e1, e2) + e = devm_kzalloc(&pdev->dev, e1, e2) ... ?-kfree(e); ...+> } @rem depends on prb@ identifier platform.removefn; expression e; @@ removefn(...) { <... - kfree(e); ...> } Signed-off-by: Himangi Saraogi <himangi774@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* drivers/char: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker2014-02-071-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. * hwrng: use platform_{get,set}_drvdata()Jingoo Han2013-06-051-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | Use the wrapper functions for getting and setting the driver data using platform_device instead of using dev_{get,set}_drvdata() with &pdev->dev, so we can directly pass a struct platform_device. Also, unnecessary dev_set_drvdata() is removed, because the driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. * Drivers: char: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman2013-01-031-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. * drivercore: revert addition of of_match to struct deviceGrant Likely2011-05-181-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit b826291c, "drivercore/dt: add a match table pointer to struct device" added an of_match pointer to struct device to cache the of_match_table entry discovered at driver match time. This was unsafe because matching is not an atomic operation with probing a driver. If two or more drivers are attempted to be matched to a driver at the same time, then the cached matching entry pointer could get overwritten. This patch reverts the of_match cache pointer and reworks all users to call of_match_device() directly instead. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>

| * of/platform: remove all of_bus_type and of_platform_bus_type referencesGrant Likely2010-07-241-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Both of_bus_type and of_platform_bus_type are just #define aliases for the platform bus. This patch removes all references to them and switches to the of_register_platform_driver()/of_unregister_platform_driver() API for registering. Subsequent patches will convert each user of of_register_platform_driver() into plain platform_drivers without the of_platform_driver shim. At which point the of_register_platform_driver()/of_unregister_platform_driver() functions can be removed. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: David S. * of: Remove duplicate fields from of_platform_driverGrant Likely2010-05-221-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | .name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members. This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup will be trivial. This patch looks big and scary because it touches so many files, but it should be pretty safe.
