| * Make most arch asm/module.h files use asm-generic/module.hDavid Howells2012-09-282-11/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use the mapping of Elf_[SPE]hdr, Elf_Addr, Elf_Sym, Elf_Dyn, Elf_Rel/Rela, ELF_R_TYPE() and ELF_R_SYM() to either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version into asm-generic/module.h for all arches bar MIPS. Also, use the generic definition mod_arch_specific where possible. To this end, I've defined three new config bools: (*) HAVE_MOD_ARCH_SPECIFIC Arches define this if they don't want to use the empty generic mod_arch_specific struct. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_RELA Arches define this if their modules can contain RELA records. This causes the Elf_Rela mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate_add() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_REL Arches define this if their modules can contain REL records. This causes the Elf_Rel mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. Note that it is possible to allow both REL and RELA records: m68k and mips are two arches that do this. With this, some arch asm/module.h files can be deleted entirely and replaced with a generic-y marker in the arch Kbuild file. Additionally, I have removed the bits from m32r and score that handle the unsupported type of relocation record as that's now handled centrally. There are other architecture specific series that are going through the arch maintainer tree and that depend on this one. * | cross-arch: don't corrupt personality flags upon exec()Jiri Kosina2012-10-061-1/+2
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Historically, the top three bytes of personality have been used for things such as ADDR_NO_RANDOMIZE, which made sense only for specific architectures. We now however have a flag there that is general no matter the architecture (UNAME26); generally we have to be careful to preserve the personality flags across exec(). This patch tries to fix all architectures that forcefully overwrite personality flags during exec() (ppc32 and s390 have been fixed recently by commits f9783ec862ea ("[S390] Do not clobber personality flags on exec") and 59e4c3a2fe9c ("powerpc/32: Don't clobber personality flags on exec") in a similar way already). |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This one specifies where to start MSG_PEEK-ing queue data from. When set to negative value means that MSG_PEEK works as ususally -- peeks from the head of the queue always. When some bytes are peeked from queue and the peeking offset is non negative it is moved forward so that the next peek will return next portion of data. When non-peeking recvmsg occurs and the peeking offset is non negative is is moved backward so that the next peek will still peek the proper data (i.e. the one that would have been picked if there were no non peeking recv in between). The offset is set using per-proto opteration to let the protocol handle the locking issues and to check whether the peeking offset feature is supported by the protocol the socket belongs to. | * PCI: Pull PCI 'latency timer' setup up into the coreMyron Stowe2012-01-061-5/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 'latency timer' of PCI devices, both Type 0 and Type 1, is setup in architecture-specific code [see: 'pcibios_set_master()']. There are two approaches being taken by all the architectures - check if the 'latency timer' is currently set between 16 and 255 and if not bring it within bounds, or, do nothing (and then there is the gratuitously different PA-RISC implementation). There is nothing architecture-specific about PCI's 'latency timer' so this patch pulls its setup functionality up into the PCI core by creating a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak' attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which, if necessary, can then be over-ridden by architecture-specific code. No functional change. Signed-off-by: Myron Stowe <myron.stowe@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>

Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but injecting it with radiotap and getting the status out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and doesn't work with all hardware. To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX status option for data frame transmissions. This works similar to the existing TX timestamping in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has an int indicating ACK status (0/1). Since it is possible that at some point we will want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more than just the timestamp; keep the old constant as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard to split them up in a way that makes it possible. |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current h8300 GPIO implementation doesn't provide the standard GPIO API, and in fact provides only direction control rather than normal GPIO functionality. Currently this is only used by the platform interrupt implementation rather than by a range of drivers so in preparation for moving over to gpiolib move the header out of the way of the gpiolib header, allowing a default GPIO implementation to be provided. For actual use of these GPIOs with gpiolib a real driver would still need to be written but there appears to be no current need for this. * atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma2011-07-261-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 32bit and 64bit on x86 are tested and working. The rest I have looked at closely and I can't find any problems. setns is an easy system call to wire up. It just takes two ints so I don't expect any weird architecture porting problems. While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are very slow to get new system calls. cris seems to be the slowest where the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev. avr32 is weird in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h. frv is behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up. On h8300 the last system call wired up was epoll_wait. On m32r the last system call wired up was fallocate. mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system call wired up. The rest seem to at least have syncfs wired up which was new in the 2.6.39. v2: Most of the architecture support added by Daniel Lezcano <dlezcano@fr.ibm.com> v3: ported to v2.6.36-rc4 by: Eric W. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | minix bit operations are only used by minix filesystem and useless by other modules. Because byte order of inode and block bitmaps is different on each architecture like below: m68k: big-endian 16bit indexed bitmaps h8300, microblaze, s390, sparc, m68knommu: big-endian 32 or 64bit indexed bitmaps m32r, mips, sh, xtensa: big-endian 32 or 64bit indexed bitmaps for big-endian mode little-endian bitmaps for little-endian mode Others: little-endian bitmaps In order to move minix bit operations from asm/bitops.h to architecture independent code in minix filesystem, this provides two config options. CONFIG_MINIX_FS_BIG_ENDIAN_16BIT_INDEXED is only selected by m68k. CONFIG_MINIX_FS_NATIVE_ENDIAN is selected by the architectures which use native byte order bitmaps (h8300, microblaze, s390, sparc, m68knommu, m32r, mips, sh, xtensa). The architectures which always use little-endian bitmaps do not select these options. Finally, we can remove minix bit operations from asm/bitops.h for all architectures.
