Clearing obj-y, obj-m, obj-n, obj- in each Makefile is
a useless habit.
They are non-exported variables; therefore they are always empty
whenever descending into each subdirectory.
(Moreorver, obj-y and obj-m are also set to empty at the beginning
of scripts/Makefile.build)

Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann:
"This time around, the cleanup branch contains mostly code removal. A
number of board files for at91, imx and msm have become obsolete
because of the DT conversion and are now ready to be removed. The
OMAP platform has traditionally had its own DMA engine abstraction and
as this is being phased out, a lot of the original code is now unused
and can be removed as well.
S3C24xx can be simplified now that the restart code is a proper device
driver.
Finally, a number of cleanups in shmobile are done to prepare for the
addition of new code in other branches"

Commit 21278aeafbfa ("ARM: use menuconfig for sub-arch menus") improved
the sub-arch menus, but accidentally caused new warnings for omap1.
This was because the commit added a menu entry around config ARCH_OMAP
bool entry where the menu had depends on ARCH_MULTI_V6 || ARCH_MULTI_V7.
As ARCH_OMAP is shared between omap1 and omap2plus, let's fix the
issue by defining ARCH_OMAP in the shared plat-omap/Kconfig.

we have currently 2 DMA drivers that try to co-exist.
drivers/dma/omap-dma.c which registers it's own IRQ and is device tree
aware and uses arch/arm/plat-omap/dma.c instance created by
arch/arm/mach-omap2/dma.c to maintain channel usage (omap_request_dma).
Currently both try to register interrupts and mach-omap2/plat-omap dma.c
attempts to use the IRQ number registered by hwmod to register it's own
interrupt handler.
Now, there is no reasonable way of static allocating DMA irq in GIC
SPI when we use crossbar. However, since the dma_chan structure is
freed as a result of IRQ not being present due to devm allocation,
maintaining information of channel by platform code fails at a later
point in time when that region of memory is reused.
So, if hwmod does not indicate an IRQ number, then, assume that
dma-engine will take care of the interrupt handling.

now convert over ASAP to using the DMA engine API instead of the OMAP
private API.

Need to use endian neutral functions to read/write h/w registers.
I.e instead of __raw_read[lw] and __raw_write[lw] functions code
need to use read[lw]_relaxed and write[lw]_relaxed functions.
If the first simply reads/writes register, the second will byteswap
it if host operates in BE mode.
Changes are trivial sed like replacement of __raw_xxx functions
with xxx_relaxed variant.

Commit 6ddeb6d84459 (dmaengine: omap-dma: move IRQ handling to omap-dma)
added support for handling interrupts in the omap dmaengine driver
instead of the legacy driver. Because of different handling for
interrupts this however caused omap3 to hang eventually after hitting
off-idle.
Any of the virtual 32 DMA channels can be assigned to any of the
four DMA interrupts. So commit 6ddeb6d84459 made the omap dmaengine
driver to use the second DMA interrupt while keeping the legacy code
still using the first DMA interrupt.
This means we need to save and restore both IRQENABLE_L1 in addition
to IRQENABLE_L0. As there is a chance that the DSP might be using
IRQENABLE_L2 or IRQENABLE_L3 lines, let's not touch those until
this has been confirmed. Let's just add a comment to the code for
now.

"A large part of the arm-soc patches are nowadays DT changes, adding
support for new SoCs, boards and devices without changing kernel
source. The plan is still to move the devicetree files out of the
kernel tree and reduce the amount of churn going on here, but we keep
finding reasons to delay doing that.
Changes are really all over the place, with little sticking out
particularly. We have contributions from a total of 116 people in
this branch.
Unfortunately, the size of this branch also causes a significant
number of conflicts at the moment, typically when subsystem
maintainers merge patches that change the driver at the same time as
the dts files. In most cases this could be avoided because the dts
changes are supposed to be compatible in both ways, and we are asking

CONFIG_OMAP_IOMMU_IVA2 was defined originally to avoid conflicting
usage by tidspbridge and other iommu users. The same can be achieved
by marking the DT node disabled, so remove this obsolete flag and
the corresponding hwmod data can be enabled.

This cleanup series gets rid of <mach/timex.h> for platforms not using
ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM. (For multi-platform code it's already unused since
387798b (ARM: initial multiplatform support).)
To make this work some code out of arch/arm needed to be adapted. The
respective changes got acks by their maintainers to be taken via armsoc
(with Andrew Morton substituting for Alessandro Zummo as rtc maintainer).
Compared to the previous pull request there was another patch added that
fixes a (non-critical) regression on ixp4xx. Olof Johansson asked to not
squash this fix into the original commit to save him from the need to
reverify the series.

This cleanup series gets rid of <mach/timex.h> for platforms not using
ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM. (For multi-platform code it's already unused since
387798b (ARM: initial multiplatform support).)
To make this work some code out of arch/arm needed to be adapted. The
respective changes got acks by their maintainers to be taken via armsoc
(with Andrew Morton substituting for Alessandro Zummo as rtc maintainer).
Compared to the previous pull request there was another patch added that
fixes a (non-critical) regression on ixp4xx. Olof Johansson asked to not
squash this fix into the original commit to save him from the need to
reverify the series.

While <mach/timex.h> isn't used for multi-platform builds since long it
still is for "normal" builds. As the previous patches fix all sites to
not make use of this per-platform file, it can go now for good also for
platforms that are not (yet) converted to multi-platform.
While at it there are no users of CLOCK_TICK_RATE any more, so also drop
the dummy #define.

Enabling of Posted mode is seen to cause problems on dmtimer modules on AM33xx
(much like other OMAPs). Reference discussions on forums [1] [2]. Earlier
patch solving this on other OMAPs [3].
For OMAP SoCs with this errata, the fix has been to not enable Posted mode.
However, on some SoCs (atleast AM33xx) which carry this errata, Posted mode
is enabled on reset. So we not only need to ignore enabling of the POSTED bit
when the timer is requested, but also disable Posted mode if errata is present.

"These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc
contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto,
dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to have
these changes merged through arm-soc.
As we proceed to untangle the dependencies between platform code and
driver code, the amount of changes in this category is fortunately
shrinking, for 3.11 we have 16 branches here and 101 non-merge
changesets, the majority of which are for the stedma40 dma engine
driver used in the ux500 platform. Cleaning up that code touches
multiple subsystems, but gets rid of the dependency in the end.
The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox is an

The mailbox hardware (in OMAP) uses a queued mailbox interrupt
mechanism that provides a communication channel between processors
through a set of registers and their associated interrupt signals
by sending and receiving messages.
The OMAP mailbox framework/driver code is moved to be under
drivers/mailbox, in preparation for adapting to a common mailbox
driver framework. This allows the build for OMAP mailbox to be
enabled (it was disabled during the multi-platform support).
As part of the migration from plat and mach code:
- Kconfig symbols have been renamed to build OMAP1 or OMAP2+ drivers.
- mailbox.h under plat-omap/plat/include has been split into a public
and private header files. The public header has only the API related
functions and types.
- The module name mailbox.ko from plat-omap is changed to
omap-mailbox.ko
- The module name mailbox_mach.ko from mach-omapX is changed as
mailbox_omap1.ko for OMAP1

The OMAP mailbox platform driver code has been cleaned up to
remove the dependencies with soc.h in preparation for moving
the mailbox code to drivers folder.
The code relied on cpu_is_xxx/soc_is_xxx macros previously to
pick the the right set of mailbox devices and register with the
mailbox driver. This data is now represented in a concise format
and moved to the respective omap_hwmod data files and published
to the driver through the platform data.

The OMAP mailbox startup code is enabling the interrupt before any
of the associated mailbox queues are allocated. Move this code so

Currently the DMTIMER errata flags are not being populated when using
device-tree. Add static platform data to populate errata flags when
using device-tree.
Please note that DMTIMER erratum i767 is applicable to OMAP3-5 devices
as well as AM335x devices.

Update the DMTIMER compatibility property to reflect the register level
compatibilty between devices and update the various OMAP/AM timer
bindings with the appropriate compatibility string.
By doing this we can add platform specific data applicable to specific
timer versions to the driver. For example, errata flags can be populated
for the timer versions that are impacted.

Add a function so that OMAP dmtimers can be requested by device-tree
node. This allows for devices, such as the internal DSP, or drivers,
such as PWM, to reference a specific dmtimer node via the device-tree.
Given that there are several APIs available for requesting dmtimers
(by ID, by capability or by node) consolidate the code for all these
functions into a single helper function that can be used by these
request functions.

When booting with device-tree the function pointer for detecting context
loss is not populated. Ideally, the pm_runtime framework should be
enhanced to allow a means for reporting context/state loss and we could
avoid populating such function pointers altogether. In the interim until
a generic non-device specific solution is in place, force a restore of
the dmtimer when enabling the timer.

The context loss handling in dmtimer appears to assume that
omap_dm_timer_set_load_start() or omap_dm_timer_start() and
omap_dm_timer_stop() bracket all interactions. Only the first two
restore the context and the last updates the context loss counter.
However omap_dm_timer_set_load() or omap_dm_timer_set_match() can
reasonably be called outside this bracketing, and the fact that they
call omap_dm_timer_enable() / omap_dm_timer_disable() suggest that
is expected.
So if, after a transition into and out of off-mode which would cause
the dm timer to loose all state, omap_dm_timer_set_match() is called
before omap_dm_timer_start(), the value read from OMAP_TIMER_CTRL_REG
will be 'wrong' and this wrong value will be stored context.tclr so
a subsequent omap_dm_timer_start() can fail (As the control register
is wrong).
Simplify this be doing the restore-from-context in
omap_dm_timer_enable() so that whenever the timer is enabled, the
context is correct. Also update the ctx_loss_count at the same time as
we notice it is wrong - these is no value in delaying this until the
omap_dm_timer_disable() as it cannot change while the timer is enabled.

Consistently check errors using the usual method used in the kernel
for much of its history. For instance:

So, gpmc_cs_set_timings() thinks any negative return value is an error,
but where we check that in higher levels, only a limited range are
errors...
There is only _one_ use of IS_ERR_VALUE() in arch/arm which is really
appropriate, and that is in arch/arm/include/asm/syscall.h:

because this function really does have to differentiate between error
return values and addresses which look like negative numbers (eg, from

Use the correct IS_ERR() to determine if clk_get() returned an error.
Set timer->fclk to be an error value initially, and check everywhere
using IS_ERR(). This keeps the range of valid values for 'struct clk'
consistent.

The timekeeping doesn't depend on HZ value in presence of fine grained
clocksource and hence there should not be any time drift because of HZ
value which was chosen to be divisor of 32768.
OMAP has been using HZ = 128 value to avoid any time drift issues
because of 32768 HZ clock. But with various measurements performed
with HZ = 100, no time drift is observed and it also proves the
point about HZ not having impact on time keeping on OMAP.
