| | * ARM: OMAP3+: clock33xx: Add AM33XX clock tree dataVaibhav Hiremath2012-06-291-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | AM33XX clock implementation is different than any existing OMAP family of devices. Although DPLL module is similar to OMAP4 device, but the usage is very much different than OMAP4. AM33XX has different peripheral set and each module gets integrated to the clock framework differently than OMAP family of devices. This patch adds full Clock tree data for AM33XX family of devices and also integrates it into existing OMAP framework. Since the same group also made the older but similar platforms we call "orion5x", "kirkwood", "mv78xx0" and "dove", we plan to move all of them into the mach-mvebu directory in the future. - socfpga is Altera's platform based on Cortex-A9 cores and a lot of FPGA space. This is similar to the Xilinx zynq platform we already support. The code is particularly clean, which is helped by the fact that the hardware doesn't do much besides the parts that are expected to get added in the FPGA. - The OMAP subarchitecture gains support for the latest generation, the OMAP5 based on the new Cortex-A15 core. Support is rather rudimentary for now, but will be extended in the future. * tag 'newsoc' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: (25 commits) ARM: socfpga: initial support for Altera's SOCFPGA platform arm: mvebu: generate DTBs for supported SoCs ARM: mvebu: MPIC: read number of interrupts from control register arm: mach-mvebu: add entry to MAINTAINERS arm: mach-mvebu: add compilation/configuration change arm: mach-mvebu: add defconfig arm: mach-mvebu: add documentation for new device tree bindings arm: mach-mvebu: add support for Armada 370 and Armada XP with DT arm: mach-mvebu: add source files arm: mach-mvebu: add header clocksource: time-armada-370-xp: Marvell Armada 370/XP SoC timer driver ARM: Kconfig update to support additional GPIOs in OMAP5 ARM: OMAP5: Add the build support arm/dts: OMAP5: Add omap5 dts files ARM: OMAP5: board-generic: Add device tree support ARM: omap2+: board-generic: clean up the irq data from board file ARM: OMAP5: Add SMP support ARM: OMAP5: Add the WakeupGen IP updates ARM: OMAP5: l3: Add l3 error handler support for omap5 ARM: OMAP5: gpmc: Update gpmc_init() ... But while adding complete baseport support (like, clock, power and hwmod) support, it is observed that, we are creating more and more problems by treating am33xx device as omap3 family, as nothing matches between them (except cortex-A8 mpu). So, after long discussion we have came to the conclusion that, we should not consider am33xx device as omap3 family, instead create separate class (SOC_AM33XX) under OMAP2PLUS. This means, for am33xx device, cpu_is_omap34xx() will return false, and only cpu_is_am33xx() will be true. Out of the 2420 based boards only Nokia N8X0 are seeing active development and they have external HS (High Speed) TUSB controller. On omap 2430sdp there is MUSB HS controller, so there's no need to use the legacy USB FS controller. That leaves only H4 and Apollon boards that could use the FS USB controller. As both H4 and Apollon boards are old proprietary development boards, it's unlikely that we have any active developers working on those boards using the USB. So remove the FS USB support for omap2 machines. Patches are welcome if somebody wants to instead fix it all up to the current standards. |/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current Makefile compiles the cpuidle34xx.c and cpuidle44xx.c files even if the cpuidle option is not set in the kernel. This patch fixes this by creating a section in the Makefile where these files are compiled only if the CONFIG_CPU_IDLE option is set. This modification breaks an implicit dependency between CPU_IDLE and PM as they belong to the same block in the Makefile. This is fixed in the Kconfig by selecting explicitely PM is CPU_IDLE is set. The linux coding style recommend to use no-op functions in the headers when the subsystem is disabled instead of adding big section in C files. This patch fix this also. | |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | During kernel init, we reset all IP blocks on the OMAP that we can, even if there is no driver compiled for that IP block. Unlike most IP blocks, the I2C block requires some extra programming for this to work. This reset code is incorrectly omitted when the I2C driver is deselected. In this circumstance, the build breaks. Fix by compiling the I2C reset code unconditionally. Problem reported by Russell King <linux@arm.linux.org.uk>. We do this by introducing PRCM event names, which are then matched to the particular PRCM interrupt bit depending on the specific OMAP SoC being used. PRCM interrupts have two priority levels, high or normal. High priority is needed for IO event handling, so that we can be sure that IO events are processed before other events. This reduces latency for IO event customers and also prevents incorrect ack sequence on OMAP3. CPU1 is left with defualt idle and the low power state for it is managed via cpu-hotplug. This patch adds MPUSS low power states in cpuidle. C1 - CPU0 ON + CPU1 ON + MPU ON C2 - CPU0 OFF + CPU1 OFF + MPU CSWR C3 - CPU0 OFF + CPU1 OFF + MPU OSWR OMAP4460 onwards, MPUSS power domain doesn't support OFF state any more anymore just like CORE power domain. The deepest state supported is OSWr. Ofcourse when MPUSS and CORE PD transitions to OSWR along with device off mode, even the memory contemts are lost which is as good as the PD off state. On OMAP4 because of hardware constraints, no low power states are targeted when both CPUs are online and in SMP mode. The low power states are attempted only when secondary CPU gets offline to OFF through hotplug infrastructure.
