| * | | tcp: restrict net.ipv4.tcp_adv_win_scale (#20312)Alexey Dobriyan2010-11-281-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | tcp_win_from_space() does the following: if (sysctl_tcp_adv_win_scale <= 0) return space >> (-sysctl_tcp_adv_win_scale); else return space - (space >> sysctl_tcp_adv_win_scale); "space" is int. As per C99 6.5.7 (3) shifting int for 32 or more bits is undefined behaviour. Indeed, if sysctl_tcp_adv_win_scale is exactly 32, space >> 32 equals space and function returns 0. Which means we busyloop in tcp_fixup_rcvbuf(). Restrict net.ipv4.tcp_adv_win_scale to [-31, 31]. Fix https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20312 Steps to reproduce: echo 32 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_adv_win_scale wget www.kernel.org [softlockup] Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * | | | dccp: Policy-based packet dequeueing infrastructureTomasz Grobelny2010-12-071-0/+20
| |/ / |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a generic infrastructure for policy-based dequeueing of TX packets and provides two policies: * a simple FIFO policy (which is the default) and * a priority based policy (set via socket options). Both policies honour the tx_qlen sysctl for the maximum size of the write queue (can be overridden via socket options). The priority policy uses skb->priority internally to assign an u32 priority identifier, using the same ranking as SO_PRIORITY. The skb->priority field is set to 0 when the packet leaves DCCP. The priority is supplied as ancillary data using cmsg(3), the patch also provides the requisite parsing routines. | * | | led-class: always implement blinkingJohannes Berg2010-11-121-9/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, blinking LEDs can be awkward because it is not guaranteed that all LEDs implement blinking. The trigger that wants it to blink then needs to implement its own timer solution. Rather than require that, add led_blink_set() API that triggers can use. This function will attempt to use hw blinking, but if that fails implements a timer for it. To stop blinking again, brightness_set() also needs to be wrapped into API that will stop the software blink. As a result of this, the timer trigger becomes a very trivial one, and hopefully we can finally see triggers using blinking as well because it's always easy to use. | * | | Restrict unprivileged access to kernel syslogDan Rosenberg2010-11-121-0/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The kernel syslog contains debugging information that is often useful during exploitation of other vulnerabilities, such as kernel heap addresses. Rather than futilely attempt to sanitize hundreds (or thousands) of printk statements and simultaneously cripple useful debugging functionality, it is far simpler to create an option that prevents unprivileged users from reading the syslog. This patch, loosely based on grsecurity's GRKERNSEC_DMESG, creates the dmesg_restrict sysctl. When set to "0", the default, no restrictions are enforced. When set to "1", only users with CAP_SYS_ADMIN can read the kernel syslog via dmesg(8) or other mechanisms. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A few modifications done for consistency, such as adding the shell prompt for command line examples and trailing slash for directories. Also corrects the module include header and fixes a few grammar issues that I introduced. Signed-off-by: matt mooney <mfm@muteddisk.com> Signed-off-by: Michal Marek <mmarek@suse.cz>
