* [media] media framework: rename pads init function to media_entity_pads_init()Mauro Carvalho Chehab2016-01-111-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With the MC next gen rework, what's left for media_entity_init() is to just initialize the PADs. However, certain devices, like a FLASH led/light doesn't have any input or output PAD. So, there's no reason why calling media_entity_init() would be mandatory. Also, despite its name, what this function actually does is to initialize the PADs data. So, rename it to media_entity_pads_init() in order to reflect that. The media entity actual init happens during entity register, at media_device_register_entity(). We should move init of num_links and num_backlinks to it. * [media] media: get rid of unused "extra_links" param on media_entity_init()Mauro Carvalho Chehab2016-01-111-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links, allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links) that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this is not used by any driver. As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal, we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So, before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first. * sysfs.txt: fix pre-kernfs sysfs_dirent referenceUlf Magnusson2015-09-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | sysfs_dirent went away when kernfs was extracted from sysfs. The reference to the kobject now lives in a kernfs_node (in the 'priv' member). * | gpio: remove gpiod_sysfs_set_active_lowJohan Hovold2015-05-121-8/+0
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove gpiod_sysfs_set_active_low (and gpio_sysfs_set_active_low) which allowed code to change the polarity of a gpio line even after it had been exported through sysfs. Drivers should not care, and generally does not know, about gpio-line polarity which is a hardware feature that needs to be described by firmware. It is currently possible to define gpio-line polarity in device-tree and acpi firmware or using platform data. Userspace can also change the polarity through sysfs. Note that drivers using the legacy gpio interface could still use GPIOF_ACTIVE_LOW to change the polarity before exporting the gpio. There are no in-kernel users of this interface. * | wanrouter: completely decouple obsolete code from kernel.Paul Gortmaker2013-01-311-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The original suggestion to delete wanrouter started earlier with the mainline commit f0d1b3c2bcc5de8a17af5f2274f7fcde8292b5fc ("net/wanrouter: Deprecate and schedule for removal") in May 2012. More importantly, Dan Carpenter found[1] that the driver had a fundamental breakage introduced back in 2008, with commit 7be6065b39c3 ("netdevice wanrouter: Convert directly reference of netdev->priv"). So we know with certainty that the code hasn't been used by anyone willing to at least take the effort to send an e-mail report of breakage for at least 4 years. This commit does a decouple of the wanrouter subsystem, by going after the Makefile/Kconfig and similar files, so that these mainline files that we are keeping do not have the big wanrouter file/driver deletion commit tied into their history. Once this commit is in place, we then can remove the obsolete cyclomx drivers and similar that have a dependency on CONFIG_WAN_ROUTER_DRIVERS.
