* common: cmd_ide: use __weak and add prototypesJeroen Hofstee2014-07-221-38/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | clang chokes about the concept of having an alias to an always_inlined function. gcc likely just ignores the always inlined since binary sizes are equal before and after this patch. Convert the aliases to weak functions and provide missing prototypes. cc: Pavel Herrmann <morpheus.ibis@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Jeroen Hofstee <jeroen@myspectrum.nl>
* common: cmd_ide: remove PIO modeJeroen Hofstee2014-07-221-84/+0
| | | | | | | | Since no board defines CONFIG_TUNE_PIO this is just dead code, so remove it. cc: Pavel Herrmann <morpheus.ibis@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Jeroen Hofstee <jeroen@myspectrum.nl>

* Fix block device accesses beyond 2TiBSascha Silbe2013-06-261-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With CONFIG_SYS_64BIT_LBA, lbaint_t gets defined as a 64-bit type, which is required to represent block numbers for storage devices that exceed 2TiB (the block size usually is 512B), e.g. recent hard drives. For some obscure reason, the current U-Boot code uses lbaint_t for the number of blocks to read (a rather optimistic estimation of how RAM sizes will evolve), but not for the starting address. Trying to access blocks beyond the 2TiB boundary will simply wrap around and read a block within the 0..2TiB range. We now use lbaint_t for block start addresses, too. This required changes to all block drivers as the signature of block_read(), block_write() and block_erase() in block_dev_desc_t changed. Signed-off-by: Sascha Silbe <t-uboot@infra-silbe.de>
* part/dev_desc: Add log2 of blocksize to block_dev_desc data structEgbert Eich2013-05-011-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | log2 of the device block size serves as the shift value used to calculate the block number to read in file systems when implementing avaiable block sizes. It is needed quite often in file systems thus it is pre-calculated and stored in the block device descriptor. Signed-off-by: Egbert Eich <eich@suse.com>
* ide: Correct function signatures for ide_read/write()Simon Glass2012-11-021-18/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | The prototypes in the header were changed by commit 4ac8f8e0 but the functions no longer match. Correct this. It seems odd that block devices take an lbaint_t for the block count, but an unsigned long for the blknr. Surely we should promote blknr to lbaint_t also? * make ide_led() a weak aliasPavel Herrmann2012-10-171-36/+27
| | | | | | | | | | Make ide_led() a weak alias instead of global/local function/empty macro based on CONFIG_IDE_LED value and/or board-specific CONFIGs, to get rid of board-specific code in cmd_ide.c Define dummy values to get rid of compoler errors in case where ide_led() used to be an empty macro Signed-off-by: Pavel Herrmann <morpheus.ibis@gmail.com>
* split CPC45 board-specific IDE functions from cmd_ide.cPavel Herrmann2012-10-171-91/+0
| | | | | | | | | Move input_data() and friends to board/cpc45/ide.c, as overrides for weak aliases in cmd_ide.c note: checkpatch emits warnings about using volatile Signed-off-by: Pavel Herrmann <morpheus.ibis@gmail.com>
* change all versions of input_data() and output_data() to global weak aliasesPavel Herrmann2012-10-171-20/+37
| | | | | | | | | | This changes input_data() and friends from static function to global symbols under weak alias, to enable board specific overrides (and therefore get rid of board-specific code in cmd_ide.c) Also declare ide_bus_offset in the header file, so other files can use ATA_CURR_BASE as well. * split mpc8xx hooks from cmd_ide.cPavel Herrmann2012-10-171-183/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | move most of mpc8xx hooks from cmd_ide.c into ide_preinit() and newly created ide_init_postreset() (invoked after calling ide_reset after ide_preinit), some cleanup to make checkpatch happy, enable IDE init hooks in configs of affected boards. confusingly, these hooks are used by more than just mpc8xx-based boards, and therefore are placed in arch/ppc/lib/ note: checkpatch still emits warnings about using volatile Signed-off-by: Pavel Herrmann <morpheus.ibis@gmail.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | Although most IDE controller is designed to be connected to PCI bridge, there are still some IDE controller support AHB interface for SoC design. The driver implementation of these IDE-AHB controllers differ from other IDE-PCI controller, some additional registers and commands access is required during CMD/DATA I/O. Hence a configuration "CONFIG_IDE_AHB" in cmd_ide.c is required to be defined to support these kinds of SoC controllers. Such as Faraday's FTIDE020 series and Global Unichip's UINF-0301. * Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk2010-07-041-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... | | | | | | | | | | | U-Boot can detect if an IDE device is present or not. If not, and this new config option is activated, U-Boot removes the ATA node from the DTS before booting Linux, so the Linux IDE driver does not probe the device and crash. * MPC512x: remove include/mpc512x.hWolfgang Denk2009-06-121-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move needed definitions (register descriptions etc.) from include/mpc512x.h into include/asm-ppc/immap_512x.h. Instead of using a #define'd register offset, use a function that provides the PATA controller's base address. All the rest of include/mpc512x.h are register offset definitions which can be eliminated by proper use of C structures. There are only a few register offsets remaining that are needed in cpu/mpc512x/start.S; for these we provide cpu/mpc512x/asm-offsets.h which is intended as a temporary workaround only. In a later patch this file will be removed, too, and then auto-generated from the respective C structs. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Cc: John Rigby <jcrigby@gmail.com>
* General help message cleanupWolfgang Denk2009-06-121-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many of the help messages were not really helpful; for example, many commands that take no arguments would not print a correct synopsis line, but "No additional help available." which is not exactly wrong, but not helpful either. Commit ``Make "usage" messages more helpful.'' changed this partially. But it also became clear that lots of "Usage" and "Help" messages (fields "usage" and "help" in struct cmd_tbl_s respective) were actually redundant. This patch cleans this up - for example: Before: => help dtt dtt - Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt - Read temperature from digital thermometer and thermostat. After: => help dtt dtt - Read temperature from Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
