* ppc4xx: remove invalid access to PCI_BRDGOPT2 registerMatthias Fuchs2011-12-011-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | This patch removes an invalid call to pci_write_config_dword to PCI_BRDGOPT2 register. This function must not be used from pci_target_init and is also at the wrong place. The correct call is done later in pci_target_init via pci_hose_write_config_dword. Signed-off-by: Matthias Fuchs <matthias.fuchs@esd.eu> Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc4xx: use CONFIG_PCI_BOOTDELAY instead of private implementationMatthias Fuchs2011-12-011-15/+0
| | | | | | | | | This patch switches PMC440 board code to the CONFIG_PCI_BOOTDELAY option instead of using a private implemention. This relies on Anatolji's patch that moves the pcidelay handling behind pci_target_init. Signed-off-by: Matthias Fuchs <matthias.fuchs@esd.eu> Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>

* Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier2010-11-1733-67/+67
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
* Replace CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE by auto-generated valueWolfgang Denk2010-10-262-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE has always been just a bad workarond for not being able to use "sizeof(struct global_data)" in assembler files. Recent experience has shown that manual synchronization is not reliable enough. This patch renames CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE into GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE which gets automatically generated by the asm-offsets tool. In the result, all definitions of this value can be deleted from the board config files. We have to make sure that all files that reference such data include the new <asm-offsets.h> file. No other changes have been done yet, but it is obvious that similar changes / simplifications can be done for other, related macro definitions as well. * config.mk cleanup: drop "-I$(TOPDIR)/board" entriesWolfgang Denk2010-10-183-72/+0
| | | | | | | | | After the recent cleanups, a number of config.mk files consist only of a "PLATFORM_CPPFLAGS += -I$(TOPDIR)/board" entry whih is not needed. Remove such entries. In most cases, that means that the whole config.mk file can be removed. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
* Makefile: move all Power Architecture boards into boards.cfgWolfgang Denk2010-10-1830-726/+8
| | | | | | | | | | Clean up Makefile, and drop a lot of the config.mk files on the way. We now also automatically pick all boards that are listed in boards.cfg (and with all configurations), so we can drop the redundant entries from MAKEALL to avoid building these twice. * Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk2010-10-1833-58/+61
| | | | | | | | | | | | The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. * ppc4xx: Use common NS16550 driver for PPC4xx UARTStefan Roese2010-09-231-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the PPC4xx UART driver. Instead the common NS16550 driver is used, since all PPC4xx SoC's use this peripheral device. The file 4xx_uart.c now only implements the UART clock calculation function which also sets the SoC internal UART divisors. All PPC4xx board config headers are changed to use this common NS16550 driver now. Tested on these boards: acadia, canyonlands, katmai, kilauea, sequoia, zeus Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc4xx: Big header cleanup, mostly PPC440 relatedStefan Roese2010-09-233-5/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch starts a bit PPC4xx header cleanup. First patch mostly touches PPC440 files. A later patch will touch the PPC405 files as well. This cleanup is done by creating header files for all SoC versions and moving the SoC specific defines into these special headers. This way the common header ppc405.h and ppc440.h can be cleaned up finally. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>

* ppc4xx: Move ppc4xx headers to powerpc include directoryStefan Roese2010-09-2327-28/+28
| | | | | | | | | This patch moves some ppc4xx related headers from the common include directory (include/) to the powerpc specific one (arch/powerpc/include/asm/). This way to common include directory is not so cluttered with files. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* cfi_flash: Simplify dynamic flash bank number detectionStefan Roese2010-09-201-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch simplifies the use of CONFIG_SYS_MAX_FLASH_BANKS_DETECT. By moving these optional variables and defines into the common code, board specific code is minimized. Currently only the following board use this feature: APC405, IDS8247, TQM834x And IDS8247 doesn't seem to really need this feature, since its not updating the bank number variable at all. So this patch removes the definition of CONFIG_SYS_MAX_FLASH_BANKS_DETECT from this board port. This new framework will be used by the upcoming lwmon5 update as well. * Rename getenv_r() into getenv_f()Wolfgang Denk2010-08-0425-32/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | While running from flash, i. e. before relocation, we have only a limited C runtime environment without writable data segment. In this phase, some configurations (for example with environment in EEPROM) must not use the normal getenv(), but a special function. This function had been called getenv_r(), with the idea that the "_r" suffix would mean the same as in the _r_eentrant versions of some of the C library functions (for example getdate vs. getdate_r, getgrent vs. getgrent_r, etc.). Unfortunately this was a misleading name, as in U-Boot the "_r" generally means "running from RAM", i. e. _after_ relocation. To avoid confusion, rename into getenv_f() [as "running from flash"] Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Acked-by: Detlev Zundel <dzu@denx.de>

* 83xx/85xx/86xx: LBC register cleanupBecky Bruce2010-07-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, 83xx, 86xx, and 85xx have a lot of duplicated code dedicated to defining and manipulating the LBC registers. Merge this into a single spot. To do this, we have to decide on a common name for the data structure that holds the lbc registers - it will now be known as fsl_lbc_t, and we adopt a common name for the immap layouts that include the lbc - this was previously known as either im_lbc or lbus; use the former. In addition, create accessors for the BR/OR regs that use in/out_be32 and use those instead of the mismash of access methods currently in play. I have done a successful ppc build all and tested a board or two from each processor family. * Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk2010-07-0430-69/+69
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds new macros, with frequently used combinations of the 4xx TLB access control and storage attibutes. Additionally the 4xx init.S files are updated to make use of these new macros. Resulting in easier to read TLB definitions.
