* Generic semaphore implementationMatthew Wilcox2008-04-171-145/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Semaphores are no longer performance-critical, so a generic C implementation is better for maintainability, debuggability and extensibility. Thanks to Peter Zijlstra for fixing the lockdep warning. Thanks to Harvey Harrison for pointing out that the unlikely() was unnecessary. * [PARISC] parisc: "extern inline" -> "static inline"Adrian Bunk2007-10-181-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | "extern inline" will have different semantics with gcc 4.3, and "static inline" is correct here. * kill DECLARE_MUTEX_LOCKEDChristoph Hellwig2007-10-171-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | DECLARE_MUTEX_LOCKED was used for semaphores used as completions and we've got rid of them. Well, except for one in libusual that the maintainer explicitly wants to keep as semaphore. So convert that useage to an explicit sema_init and kill of DECLARE_MUTEX_LOCKED so that new code is reminded to use a completion. * [PATCH] Fix incorrent type of flags in <asm/semaphore.h>Kyle McMartin2006-11-261-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | I still think using BUILD_BUG_ON() is unacceptable, especially given how vague the error message was. Signed-off-by: Kyle McMartin <kyle@parisc-linux.org> [ And I already removed gthe BUILD_BUG_ON() in the previous commit ] Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] semaphore: Remove __MUTEX_INITIALIZER()Arthur Othieno2005-10-301-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | __MUTEX_INITIALIZER() has no users, and equates to the more commonly used DECLARE_MUTEX(), thus making it pretty much redundant. Remove it for good. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
