* scsi: sim710: fix build warningSudip Mukherjee2016-02-231-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We are getting build warning about: "Section mismatch in reference from the variable sim710_eisa_driver to the function .init.text:sim710_eisa_probe() The variable sim710_eisa_driver references the function __init sim710_eisa_probe()" sim710_eisa_probe() was having __init but that was being referenced from sim710_eisa_driver. * Drivers: scsi: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman2013-01-031-6/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. * scsi: delete the MCA specific drivers and driver codePaul Gortmaker2012-05-171-121/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The support for CONFIG_MCA is being removed, since the 20 year old hardware simply isn't capable of meeting today's software demands on CPU and memory resources. This commit removes the MCA specific SCSI drivers, and the MCA specific portions of code in dual role ISA/MCA drivers. Also, the MCA specific SCSI documentation is removed. * include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2010-03-301-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix drivers misusing dev_to_shost Some drivers were using dev_to_shost to go from a struct device to the corresponding shost. Unfortunately, dev_to_shost only looks up the tree to find an shost (it's designed to go from a scsi_device or a scsi_target to the parent scsi_host), and these drivers were calling it with the parent of the scsi_host. I've fixed this by saving a pointer to the Scsi_Host in the drvdata, which matches what most scsi drivers do. * [SCSI] 53c700: Allow setting burst lengthThomas Bogendoerfer2007-01-131-0/+1

* [PATCH] EISA bus MODALIAS attributes supportMichael Tokarev2006-09-271-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add modalias attribute support for the almost forgotten now EISA bus and (at least some) EISA-aware modules. The modalias entry looks like (for an 3c509 NIC): eisa:sTCM5093 and the in-module alias like: eisa:sTCM5093* The patch moves struct eisa_device_id declaration from include/linux/eisa.h to include/linux/mod_devicetable.h (so that the former now #includes the latter), adds proper MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE(eisa, ...) statements for all drivers with EISA IDs I found (some drivers already have that DEVICE_TABLE declared), and adds recognision of __mod_eisa_device_table to scripts/mod/file2alias.c so that proper modules.alias will be generated. There's no support for /lib/modules/$kver/modules.eisamap, as it's not used by any existing tools, and because with in-kernel modalias mechanism those maps are obsolete anyway. The rationale for this patch is: a) to make EISA bus to act as other busses with modalias support, to unify driver loading b) to foget about EISA finally - with this patch, kernel (who still supports EISA) will be the only one who knows how to choose the necessary drivers for this bus ;) [akpm@osdl.org: fix the kbuild bit] Signed-off-by: Michael Tokarev <mjt@tls.msk.ru> Cc: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Cc: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@xenotime.net> Acked-the-net-bits-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org> Acked-the-tulip-bit-by: Valerie Henson <val_henson@linux.intel.com> Cc: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@steeleye.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
