It is pretty calm this time around I think. I even got time to get to things like starting to clean up header includes. Core changes: - Disallow open drain and open source flags to be set simultaneously. This doesn't make electrical sense, and would the hardware actually respond to this setting, the result would be short circuit. - ACPI GPIO has a new core infrastructure for handling quirks. The quirks are there to deal with broken ACPI tables centrally instead of pushing the work to individual drivers. In the world of BIOS writers, the ACPI tables are perfect. Until they find a mistake in it. When such a mistake is found, we can patch it with a quirk. It should never happen, the problem is that it happens. So we accomodate for it. - Several documentation updates. - Revert the patch setting up initial direction state from reading the device. This was causing bad things for drivers that can't read status on all its pins. It is only affecting debugfs information quality. - Label descriptors with the device name if no explicit label is passed in. - Pave the ground for transitioning SPI and regulators to use GPIO descriptors by implementing some quirks in the device tree GPIO parsing code. New drivers: - New driver for the Access PCIe IDIO 24 family. Other: - Major refactorings and improvements to the GPIO mockup driver used for test and verification. - Moved the AXP209 driver over to pin control since it gained a pin control back-end. These patches will appear (with the same hashes) in the pin control pull request as well. - Convert the onewire GPIO driver w1-gpio to use descriptors. This is merged here since the W1 maintainers send very few pull requests and he ACKed it. - Start to clean up driver headers using <linux/gpio.h> to just use <linux/gpio/driver.h> as appropriate" * tag 'gpio-v4.16-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio: (103 commits) gpio: Timestamp events in hardirq handler gpio: Fix kernel stack leak to userspace gpio: Fix a documentation spelling mistake gpio: Documentation update gpiolib: remove redundant initialization of pointer desc gpio: of: Fix NPE from OF flags gpio: stmpe: Delete an unnecessary variable initialisation in stmpe_gpio_probe() gpio: stmpe: Move an assignment in stmpe_gpio_probe() gpio: stmpe: Improve a size determination in stmpe_gpio_probe() gpio: stmpe: Use seq_putc() in stmpe_dbg_show() gpio: No NULL owner gpio: stmpe: i2c transfer are forbiden in atomic context gpio: davinci: Include proper header gpio: da905x: Include proper header gpio: cs5535: Include proper header gpio: crystalcove: Include proper header gpio: bt8xx: Include proper header gpio: bcm-kona: Include proper header gpio: arizona: Include proper header gpio: amd8111: Include proper header ...

* gpio: davinci: Redesign driver to accommodate ngpios in one gpio chipKeerthy2017-01-261-54/+73
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Davinci GPIO driver is implemented to work with one monolithic Davinci GPIO platform device which may have up to Y(144) gpios. The Davinci GPIO driver instantiates number of GPIO chips with max 32 gpio pins per each during initialization and one IRQ domain. So, the current GPIO's opjects structure is: <platform device> Davinci GPIO controller |- <gpio0_chip0> ------| ... |--- irq_domain (hwirq [0..143]) |- <gpio0_chipN> ------| Current driver creates one chip for every 32 GPIOs in a controller. This was a limitation earlier now there is no need for that. Hence redesigning the driver to create one gpio chip for all the ngpio in the controller. |- <gpio0_chip0> ------|--- irq_domain (hwirq [0..143]). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct. struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices, this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent. This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like this: @@ struct gpio_chip *var; @@ -var->dev +var->parent and: @@ struct gpio_chip var; @@ -var.dev +var.parent and: @@ struct bgpio_chip *var; @@ -var->gc.dev +var->gc.parent Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how to teach Coccinelle to rewrite. This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway. * gpio: kill off set_irq_flags usageRob Herring2015-07-281-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | set_irq_flags is ARM specific with custom flags which have genirq equivalents. Convert drivers to use the genirq interfaces directly, so we can kill off set_irq_flags. The translation of flags is as follows: IRQF_VALID -> !IRQ_NOREQUEST IRQF_PROBE -> !IRQ_NOPROBE IRQF_NOAUTOEN -> IRQ_NOAUTOEN For IRQs managed by an irqdomain, the irqdomain core code handles clearing and setting IRQ_NOREQUEST already, so there is no need to do this in .map() functions and we can simply remove the set_irq_flags calls. Some users also modify IRQ_NOPROBE and this has been maintained although it is not clear that is really needed as most platforms don't use probing. There appears to be a great deal of blind copy and paste of this code. * gpio: davinci: use chained_irq_enter/chained_irq_exit APIGrygorii Strashko2013-12-261-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's unsafe to call IRQ chip callbacks (.irq_mask/irq_unmask/irq_ack) from chained IRQ handler directly. Because, Davinci GPIO block is used by different SoCs, which, in turn, have different Main IRQ controllers (Davinci - aintc, cp-intc; Keystone - arm-gic) which may introduce diffrent set of IRQ chip callbacks. As result, call of gpio_irq_handler() on Keysone will simply cause crash the system, because ARM-GIC implements .irq_eoi() instead of .irq_ack(). Hence, fix it by using Kernel chained_irq_enter/chained_irq_exit APIs as they are intended to handle exact such cases. * gpio: davinci: get rid of DAVINCI_N_GPIOGrygorii Strashko2013-12-261-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since Davinci GPIO driver is moved to support gpiolib it has to use ARCH_NR_GPIOS (can be configured using CONFIG_ARCH_NR_GPIO Kconfig option) configuration instead of any mach/platform specific options. Hence, replace private DAVINCI_N_GPIO with common ARCH_NR_GPIOS. This is safe because default value for ARCH_NR_GPIOS=256 and maximum number of supported GPIOs for Davinci is DAVINCI_N_GPIO=144. More over, this is one of steps to re-use Davinci GPIO driver by other mach/platform. * gpio: davinci: use {readl|writel}_relaxed() instead of __raw_*Lad, Prabhakar2013-12-261-18/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch replaces the __raw_readl/writel with {readl|writel}_relaxed(), Altough the code runs on ARMv5 based SOCs, changing this will help using code for other use cases (like with big-endian machines). * gpio: davinci: fix check for unbanked gpioLad, Prabhakar2013-11-211-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a check for offset in gpio_to_irq_unbanked() and also assigns gpio_irq, gpio_unbanked of chips[0] to appropriate values which is used in gpio_to_irq_unbanked() function. Without this patch, unbanked IRQ handling is broken. * gpio: davinci: move to platform deviceKV Sujith2013-09-241-38/+81
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Modify DaVinci GPIO driver to become a platform device driver. The driver does not have platform driver structure or a probe. Instead, it has pure_initcall function for initialization. The platform specific informaiton is obtained using the DaVinci specific davinci_soc_info structure. This is a problem for Device Tree (DT) implementation. As a first stage of DT conversion, we implement a probe. Additional notes: - The driver registration happens as postcore_initcall. This is required since machine init functions like da850_lcd_hw_init() make use of GPIO. - Start using devres APIs for simpler error handling. * gpio: davinci: preparation for switch to common clock frameworkMurali Karicheri2012-09-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | As a first step towards migrating davinci platforms to use common clock framework, replace all instances of clk_enable() with clk_prepare_enable() and clk_disable() with clk_disable_unprepare(). Until the platform is switched to use the CONFIG_HAVE_CLK_PREPARE Kconfig variable, this just adds a might_sleep() call and would work without any issues. This will make it easy later to switch to common clk based implementation of clk driver from DaVinci specific driver. * gpio/davinci: fix enabling unbanked GPIO IRQsSekhar Nori2012-03-121-5/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Unbanked GPIO IRQ handling code made a copy of just the irq_chip structure for GPIO IRQ lines which caused problems after the generic IRQ chip conversion because there was no valid irq_chip_type structure with the right "regs" populated. irq_gc_mask_set_bit() was therefore accessing random addresses. Fix it by making a copy of irq_chip_type structure instead. This will ensure sane register offsets.
