* Linker: teach the IR mover to return llvm::Error.Peter Collingbourne2016-05-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This will be needed in order to consistently return an Error to clients of the API being developed in D20268. Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D20550 llvm-svn: 270967
* llvm-link: Verify input modulesDuncan P. N. Exon Smith2015-03-251-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Otherwise, broken input modules can cause assertions. I've updated two of the testcases that started failing (modules that had `Require` flags but didn't meet their own requirements), but Rafael and I decided that test/Linker/2011-08-22-ResolveAlias.ll should just be deleted outright -- it's a leftover of the way llvm-gcc used to implement weakref. llvm-svn: 233229
* IR: Make metadata typeless in assemblyDuncan P. N. Exon Smith2014-12-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that `Metadata` is typeless, reflect that in the assembly. These are the matching assembly changes for the metadata/value split in r223802. - Only use the `metadata` type when referencing metadata from a call intrinsic -- i.e., only when it's used as a `Value`. - Stop pretending that `ValueAsMetadata` is wrapped in an `MDNode` when referencing it from call intrinsics. So, assembly like this: define @foo(i32 %v) { call void @llvm.foo(metadata !{i32 %v}, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !{i32 7}, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !1, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !3, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !{metadata !3}, metadata !0) ret void, !bar !2 } !0 = metadata !{metadata !2} !1 = metadata !{i32* @global} !2 = metadata !{metadata !3} !3 = metadata !{} turns into this: define @foo(i32 %v) { call void @llvm.foo(metadata i32 %v, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata i32 7, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata i32* @global, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !3, metadata !0) call void @llvm.foo(metadata !{!3}, metadata !0) ret void, !bar !2 } !0 = !{!2} !1 = !{i32* @global} !2 = !{!3} !3 = !{} I wrote an upgrade script that handled almost all of the tests in llvm and many of the tests in cfe (even handling many `CHECK` lines). I've attached it (or will attach it in a moment if you're speedy) to PR21532 to help everyone update their out-of-tree testcases. This is part of PR21532. llvm-svn: 224257
* IR: Canonicalize metadata formatting, NFCDuncan P. N. Exon Smith2014-12-111-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Canonicalize formatting of metadata to make it easier to upgrade via scripts -- in particular, one line per metadata definition makes it more `sed`-able. This is preparation for changing the assembly syntax for metadata [1]. [1]: http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20141208/248449.html llvm-svn: 224002
* [WIP] Initial code for module flags.Bill Wendling2012-02-111-0/+8
Module flags are key-value pairs associated with the module. They include a 'behavior' value, indicating how module flags react when mergine two files. Normally, it's just the union of the two module flags. But if two module flags have the same key, then the resulting flags are dictated by the behaviors. Allowable behaviors are: Error Emits an error if two values disagree. Warning Emits a warning if two values disagree. Require Emits an error when the specified value is not present or doesn't have the specified value. It is an error for two (or more) llvm.module.flags with the same ID to have the Require behavior but different values. There may be multiple Require flags per ID. Override Uses the specified value if the two values disagree. It is an error for two (or more) llvm.module.flags with the same ID to have the Override behavior but different values. llvm-svn: 150300
