Every time we add, remove, or rename a pass in LLVM, it caused lots of recompilation. This removes a bunch of SFINAE goop from the pass manager and just requires pass authors to accept `AnalysisManager<IRUnitT> &` as a dead argument. This is a small price to pay for the simplicity of the system as a whole, despite the noise that changing it causes at this stage. This will also helpfull allow us to make the signature of the run methods much more flexible for different kinds af passes to support things like intelligently updating the pass's progression over IR units. While this touches many, many, files, the changes are really boring. Mostly made with the help of my trusty perl one liners. | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch implements a optimization bisect feature, which will allow optimizations to be selectively disabled at compile time in order to track down test failures that are caused by incorrect optimizations. The bisection is enabled using a new command line option (-opt-bisect-limit). Individual passes that may be skipped call the OptBisect object (via an LLVMContext) to see if they should be skipped based on the bisect limit. A finer level of control (disabling individual transformations) can be managed through an addition OptBisect method, but this is not yet used. The skip checking in this implementation is based on (and replaces) the skipOptnoneFunction check. Where that check was being called, a new call has been inserted in its place which checks the bisect limit and the optnone attribute. This should be fixed in C++17 barring a small question that's still open. The code currently plays fast and loose with the AtomicOrdering enum. Using an enum class is one step towards tightening things. I later also want to tighten related enums, such as clang's AtomicOrderingKind (which should be shared with LLVM as a 'C++ ABI' enum). This change touches a few lines of code which can be improved later, I'd like to keep it as NFC for now as it's already quite complex. I have related changes for clang. As a follow-up I'll add: bool operator<(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete; bool operator>(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete; bool operator<=(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete; bool operator>=(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete; This is separate so that clang and LLVM changes don't need to be in sync. This patch changes a call from `Function::begin()` to `&Function::front()`, since the return was immediately being passed into another function that takes a `Function*`. `Function::front()` started to assert, since the function was empty. Note that `Function::end()` does not point at a legal `Function*` -- it points at an `ilist_half_node` -- so the other function was getting garbage before. A cmpxchg instruction with this modifier is permitted to fail to store, even if the comparison indicated it should. As a result, cmpxchg instructions must return a flag indicating success in addition to their original iN value loaded. Thus, for uniformity *all* cmpxchg instructions now return "{ iN, i1 }". The second flag is 1 when the store succeeded. At the DAG level, a new ATOMIC_CMP_SWAP_WITH_SUCCESS node has been added as the natural representation for the new cmpxchg instructions. It is a strong cmpxchg. By default this gets Expanded to the existing ATOMIC_CMP_SWAP during Legalization, so existing backends should see no change in behaviour. If they wish to deal with the enhanced node instead, they can call setOperationAction on it. Beware: as a node with 2 results, it cannot be selected from TableGen. Currently, no use is made of the extra information provided in this patch. Test updates are almost entirely adapting the input IR to the new scheme.
