* Use raw_pwrite_stream in the object writer/streamer.Rafael Espindola2015-04-141-1/+1
| | | | | | The ELF object writer will take advantage of that in the next commit. llvm-svn: 234950
* Simplify use of formatted_raw_ostream.Rafael Espindola2015-04-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | formatted_raw_ostream is a wrapper over another stream to add column and line number tracking. It is used only for asm printing. This patch moves the its creation down to where we know we are printing assembly. This has the following advantages: * Simpler lifetime management: std::unique_ptr * We don't compute column and line number of object files :-) llvm-svn: 234535
* This reverts commit r234460 and r234461.Rafael Espindola2015-04-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Revert "Add classof implementations to the raw_ostream classes." Revert "Use the cast machinery to remove dummy uses of formatted_raw_ostream." The underlying issue can be fixed without classof. llvm-svn: 234495
* Use the cast machinery to remove dummy uses of formatted_raw_ostream.Rafael Espindola2015-04-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | If we know we are producing an object, we don't need to wrap the stream in a formatted_raw_ostream anymore. llvm-svn: 234461
* Remove the target independent TargetMachine::getSubtarget andEric Christopher2015-03-211-8/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | TargetMachine::getSubtargetImpl routines. This keeps the target independent code free of bare subtarget calls while the remainder of the backends are migrated, or not if they don't wish to support per-function subtargets as would be needed for function multiversioning or LTO of disparate cpu subarchitecture types, e.g. clang -msse4.2 -c foo.c -emit-llvm -o foo.bc clang -c bar.c -emit-llvm -o bar.bc llvm-link foo.bc bar.bc -o baz.bc llc baz.bc and get appropriate code for what the command lines requested. llvm-svn: 232885
* Move the DataLayout to the generic TargetMachine, making it mandatory.Mehdi Amini2015-03-121-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: I don't know why every singled backend had to redeclare its own DataLayout. There was a virtual getDataLayout() on the common base TargetMachine, the default implementation returned nullptr. It was not clear from this that we could assume at call site that a DataLayout will be available with each Target. Now getDataLayout() is no longer virtual and return a pointer to the DataLayout member of the common base TargetMachine. I plan to turn it into a reference in a future patch. The only backend that didn't have a DataLayout previsouly was the CPPBackend. It now initializes the default DataLayout. This commit is NFC for all the other backends. * Canonicalize header guards into a common format.Benjamin Kramer2014-08-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Add header guards to files that were missing guards. Remove #endif comments as they don't seem common in LLVM (we can easily add them back if we decide they're useful) Changes made by clang-tidy with minor tweaks. llvm-svn: 215558

* Move all of the header files which are involved in modelling the LLVM IRChandler Carruth2013-01-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | into their new header subdirectory: include/llvm/IR. This matches the directory structure of lib, and begins to correct a long standing point of file layout clutter in LLVM. There are still more header files to move here, but I wanted to handle them in separate commits to make tracking what files make sense at each layer easier. The only really questionable files here are the target intrinsic tablegen files. But that's a battle I'd rather not fight today. I've updated both CMake and Makefile build systems (I think, and my tests think, but I may have missed something). I've also re-sorted the includes throughout the project. I'll be committing updates to Clang, DragonEgg, and Polly momentarily. llvm-svn: 171366

* Extend TargetPassConfig to allow running only a subset of the normal passes.Bob Wilson2012-07-021-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is still a work in progress but I believe it is currently good enough to fix PR13122 "Need unit test driver for codegen IR passes". For example, you can run llc with -stop-after=loop-reduce to have it dump out the IR after running LSR. Serializing machine-level IR is not yet supported but we have some patches in progress for that. The plan is to serialize the IR to a YAML file, containing separate sections for the LLVM IR, machine-level IR, and whatever other info is needed. Chad suggested that we stash the stop-after pass in the YAML file and use that instead of the start-after option to figure out where to restart the compilation. I think that's a great idea, but since it's not implemented yet I put the -start-after option into this patch for testing purposes. llvm-svn: 159570

* Eliminate asm parser's dependency on TargetMachine:Evan Cheng2011-07-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | - Each target asm parser now creates its own MCSubtatgetInfo (if needed). - Changed AssemblerPredicate to take subtarget features which tablegen uses to generate asm matcher subtarget feature queries. e.g. "ModeThumb,FeatureThumb2" is translated to "(Bits & ModeThumb) != 0 && (Bits & FeatureThumb2) != 0". llvm-svn: 134678

| | | | | | | | | | | | Massive check in. This changes the "-fast" flag to "-O#" in llc. If you want to use the old behavior, the flag is -O0. This change allows for finer-grained control over which optimizations are run at different -O levels. Most of this work was pretty mechanical. The majority of the fixes came from verifying that a "fast" variable wasn't used anymore. The JIT still uses a "Fast" flag. I'll change the JIT with a follow-up patch. llvm-svn: 70343
