* Re-commit r247683: Replace Triple with a new TargetTuple in MCTargetDesc/* ↵Daniel Sanders2015-09-156-27/+29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | and related. NFC. Summary: This is the first patch in the series to migrate Triple's (which are ambiguous) to TargetTuple's (which aren't). For the moment, TargetTuple simply passes all requests to the Triple object it holds. Once it has replaced Triple, it will start to implement the interface in a more suitable way. This change makes some changes to the public C++ API. In particular, InitMCSubtargetInfo(), createMCRelocationInfo(), and createMCSymbolizer() now take TargetTuples instead of Triples. The other public C++ API's have been left as-is for the moment to reduce patch size. This commit also contains a trivial patch to clang to account for the C++ API change. Thanks go to Pavel Labath for fixing LLDB for me. * MC: Remove MCSubtargetInfo() default constructorDuncan P. N. Exon Smith2015-07-101-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Force all creators of `MCSubtargetInfo` to immediately initialize it, merging the default constructor and the initializer into an initializing constructor. Besides cleaning up the code a little, this makes it clear that the initializer is never called again later. Out-of-tree backends need a trivial change: instead of calling: auto *X = new MCSubtargetInfo(); InitXYZMCSubtargetInfo(X, ...); return X; they should call: return createXYZMCSubtargetInfoImpl(...); There's no real functionality change here. llvm-svn: 241957
* Change the last few internal StringRef triples into Triple objects.Daniel Sanders2015-07-061-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: This concludes the patch series to eliminate StringRef forms of GNU triples from the internals of LLVM that began in r239036. At this point, the StringRef-form of GNU Triples should only be used in the public API (including IR serialization) and a couple objects that directly interact with the API (most notably the Module class). The next step is to replace these Triple objects with the TargetTuple object that will represent our authoratative/unambiguous internal equivalent to GNU Triples. * Move alignment from MCSectionData to MCSection.Rafael Espindola2015-05-213-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This starts merging MCSection and MCSectionData. There are a few issues with the current split between MCSection and MCSectionData. * It optimizes the the not as important case. We want the production of .o files to be really fast, but the split puts the information used for .o emission in a separate data structure. * The ELF/COFF/MachO hierarchy is not represented in MCSectionData, leading to some ad-hoc ways to represent the various flags. * It makes it harder to remember where each item is. The attached patch starts merging the two by moving the alignment from MCSectionData to MCSection. Most of the patch is actually just dropping 'const', since MCSectionData is mutable, but MCSection was not. llvm-svn: 237936

* AArch64: work around ld64 bug more aggressively.Tim Northover2015-05-181-5/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ld64 currently mishandles internal pointer relocations (i.e. ARM64_RELOC_UNSIGNED referred to by section & offset rather than symbol). The existing __cfstring clause was an early discovery and workaround for this, but the problem is wider and we should avoid such relocations wherever possible for now. This code should be reverted to allowing internal relocations as soon as possible. PR23437. llvm-svn: 237621

* [MC] Use LShr for constant evaluation of ">>" on ELF/arm64--darwin.Ahmed Bougacha2015-04-281-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | This matches other assemblers and is less unexpected (e.g. PR23227). On ELF, I tried binutils gas v2.24 and nasm 2.10.09, and they both agree on LShr. On COFF, I couldn't get my hands on an assembler yet, so don't change the behavior. For now, don't change it on non-AArch64 Darwin either, as the other assembler is gas v1.38, which does an AShr. llvm-svn: 235963
