* [LegacyPassManager] Delete BasicBlockPass/Manager.Alina Sbirlea2019-10-301-45/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: Delete the BasicBlockPass and BasicBlockManager, all its dependencies and update documentation. The BasicBlockManager was improperly tested and found to be potentially broken, and was deprecated as of rL373254. In light of the switch to the new pass manager coming before the next release, this patch is a first cleanup of the LegacyPassManager. * Fix IR/Analysis layering issue with OptBisectRichard Trieu2019-02-281-3/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | OptBisect is in IR due to LLVMContext using it. However, it uses IR units from Analysis as well. This change moves getDescription functions from OptBisect to their respective IR units. Generating names for IR units will now be up to the callers, keeping the Analysis IR units in Analysis. To prevent unnecessary string generation, isEnabled function is added so that callers know when the description needs to be generated. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
* Rename DEBUG macro to LLVM_DEBUG.Nicola Zaghen2018-05-141-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects. The renaming was done as follows: - git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g' - git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM - Manual change to APInt - Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it. In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased to the LLVM_DEBUG() one. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D43624 llvm-svn: 332240

* Track validity of pass resultsSerge Pavlov2017-01-131-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Running tests with expensive checks enabled exhibits some problems with verification of pass results. First, the pass verification may require results of analysis that are not available. For instance, verification of loop info requires results of dominator tree analysis. A pass may be marked as conserving loop info but does not need to be dependent on DominatorTreePass. When a pass manager tries to verify that loop info is valid, it needs dominator tree, but corresponding analysis may be already destroyed as no user of it remained. Another case is a pass that is skipped. For instance, entities with linkage available_externally do not need code generation and such passes are skipped for them. In this case result verification must also be skipped. To solve these problems this change introduces a special flag to the Pass structure to mark passes that have valid results. If this flag is reset, verifications dependent on the pass result are skipped. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D27190 llvm-svn: 291882

* Initial implementation of optimization bisect support.Andrew Kaylor2016-04-211-5/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch implements a optimization bisect feature, which will allow optimizations to be selectively disabled at compile time in order to track down test failures that are caused by incorrect optimizations. The bisection is enabled using a new command line option (-opt-bisect-limit). Individual passes that may be skipped call the OptBisect object (via an LLVMContext) to see if they should be skipped based on the bisect limit. A finer level of control (disabling individual transformations) can be managed through an addition OptBisect method, but this is not yet used. The skip checking in this implementation is based on (and replaces) the skipOptnoneFunction check. Where that check was being called, a new call has been inserted in its place which checks the bisect limit and the optnone attribute. A new function call has been added for module and SCC passes that behaves in a similar way. Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D19172 llvm-svn: 267022

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since removeRegistrationListener is no longer called during static destruction, we can get rid of the pimpl in PassRegistry. This should clean up the code somewhat, increase clarity, and also allows us to put the Lock as a member of the class, instead of as a ManagedStatic. * [PM] Add pass run listeners to the pass manager.Juergen Ributzka2014-04-281-0/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit provides the necessary C/C++ APIs and infastructure to enable fine- grain progress report and safe suspension points after each pass in the pass manager. Clients can provide a callback function to the pass manager to call after each pass. This can be used in a variety of ways (progress report, dumping of IR between passes, safe suspension of threads, etc). The run listener list is maintained in the LLVMContext, which allows a multi- threaded client to be only informed for it's own thread. This of course assumes that the client created a LLVMContext for each thread. This fixes <rdar://problem/16728690> llvm-svn: 207430
* [Modules] Make Support/Debug.h modular. This requires it to not changeChandler Carruth2014-04-211-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | behavior based on other files defining DEBUG_TYPE, which means it cannot define DEBUG_TYPE at all. This is actually better IMO as it forces folks to define relevant DEBUG_TYPEs for their files. However, it requires all files that currently use DEBUG(...) to define a DEBUG_TYPE if they don't already. I've updated all such files in LLVM and will do the same for other upstream projects. This still leaves one important change in how LLVM uses the DEBUG_TYPE macro going forward: we need to only define the macro *after* header files have been #include-ed. Previously, this wasn't possible because Debug.h required the macro to be pre-defined. This commit removes that. By defining DEBUG_TYPE after the includes two things are fixed: - Header files that need to provide a DEBUG_TYPE for some inline code can do so by defining the macro before their inline code and undef-ing it afterward so the macro does not escape. - We no longer have rampant ODR violations due to including headers with different DEBUG_TYPE definitions. This may be mostly an academic violation today, but with modules these types of violations are easy to check for and potentially very relevant. Where necessary to suppor headers with DEBUG_TYPE, I have moved the definitions below the includes in this commit. I plan to move the rest of the DEBUG_TYPE macros in LLVM in subsequent commits; this one is big enough. The comments in Debug.h, which were hilariously out of date already, have been updated to reflect the recommended practice going forward. llvm-svn: 206822

Also, the function variant had a different order of arguments from all of the others which was just really confusing. The implementation of the printing passes haven't been updated with this simplification, this is just the API switch. llvm-svn: 199044
