* Describe stack-id as an enumSander de Smalen2019-06-171-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch changes MIR stack-id from an integer to an enum, and adds printing/parsing support for this in MIR files. The default stack-id '0' is now renamed to 'default'. This should make MIR tests that have stack objects with different stack-ids more descriptive. It also clarifies code operating on StackID. * Allow target to handle STRICT floating-point nodesUlrich Weigand2019-06-051-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ISD::STRICT_ nodes used to implement the constrained floating-point intrinsics are currently never passed to the target back-end, which makes it impossible to handle them correctly (e.g. mark instructions are depending on a floating-point status and control register, or mark instructions as possibly trapping). This patch allows the target to use setOperationAction to switch the action on ISD::STRICT_ nodes to Legal. If this is done, the SelectionDAG common code will stop converting the STRICT nodes to regular floating-point nodes, but instead pass the STRICT nodes to the target using normal SelectionDAG matching rules. To avoid having the back-end duplicate all the floating-point instruction patterns to handle both strict and non-strict variants, we make the MI codegen explicitly aware of the floating-point exceptions by introducing two new concepts: - A new MCID flag "mayRaiseFPException" that the target should set on any instruction that possibly can raise FP exception according to the architecture definition. - A new MI flag FPExcept that CodeGen/SelectionDAG will set on any MI instruction resulting from expansion of any constrained FP intrinsic. Any MI instruction that is *both* marked as mayRaiseFPException *and* FPExcept then needs to be considered as raising exceptions by MI-level codegen (e.g. scheduling). Setting those two new flags is straightforward. The mayRaiseFPException flag is simply set via TableGen by marking all relevant instruction patterns in the .td files. The FPExcept flag is set in SDNodeFlags when creating the STRICT_ nodes in the SelectionDAG, and gets inherited in the MachineSDNode nodes created from it during instruction selection. The flag is then transfered to an MIFlag when creating the MI from the MachineSDNode. This is handled just like fast-math flags like no-nans are handled today. This patch includes both common code changes required to implement the new features, and the SystemZ implementation. * MIR: Allow targets to serialize MachineFunctionInfoMatt Arsenault2019-03-141-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This has been a very painful missing feature that has made producing reduced testcases difficult. In particular the various registers determined for stack access during function lowering were necessary to avoid undefined register errors in a large percentage of cases. Implement a subset of the important fields that need to be preserved for AMDGPU. Most of the changes are to support targets parsing register fields and properly reporting errors. The biggest sort-of bug remaining is for fields that can be initialized from the IR section will be overwritten by a default initialized machineFunctionInfo section. Another remaining bug is the machineFunctionInfo section is still printed even if empty. llvm-svn: 356215
* MIR: Preserve incoming frame index numbersMatt Arsenault2019-02-221-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Don't skip incrementing the frame index number if the object is dead. Instructions can still be referencing the old frame index number, and this doesn't attempt to remap those. The resulting MIR then fails to load because the use instructions use a higher frame index number than recorded list of stack objects. I'm not sure it's possible to craft a testcase with the existing set of passes. It requires selectively marking some stack objects dead in an essentially random order. StackSlotColoring condenses towards the low indexes. This avoids a regression in a future AMDGPU commit when some frame indexes are lowered separately from PEI. llvm-svn: 354688

We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
* [Power9] Allow gpr callee saved spills in prologue to vectors registersZaara Syeda2018-11-091-12/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently in llvm, CalleeSavedInfo can only assign a callee saved register to stack frame index to be spilled in the prologue. We would like to enable spilling gprs to vector registers. This patch adds the capability to spill to other registers aside from just the stack. It also adds the changes for power9 to spill gprs to volatile vector registers when they are available. This happens only for leaf functions when using the option -ppc-enable-pe-vector-spills. * [codeview] Emit S_FRAMEPROC and use S_DEFRANGE_FRAMEPOINTER_RELReid Kleckner2018-10-011-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: Before this change, LLVM would always describe locals on the stack as being relative to some specific register, RSP, ESP, EBP, ESI, etc. Variables in stack memory are pretty common, so there is a special S_DEFRANGE_FRAMEPOINTER_REL symbol for them. This change uses it to reduce the size of our debug info. On top of the size savings, there are cases on 32-bit x86 where local variables are addressed from ESP, but ESP changes across the function. Unlike in DWARF, there is no FPO data to describe the stack adjustments made to push arguments onto the stack and pop them off after the call, which makes it hard for the debugger to find the local variables in frames further up the stack. To handle this, CodeView has a special VFRAME register, which corresponds to the $T0 variable set by our FPO data in 32-bit. Offsets to local variables are instead relative to this value. This is part of PR38857. Reviewers: hans, zturner, javed.absar Subscribers: aprantl, hiraditya, JDevlieghere, llvm-commits Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D52217 llvm-svn: 343543

* [x86/MIR] Implement support for pre- and post-instruction symbols, asChandler Carruth2018-08-161-0/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | well as MIR parsing support for `MCSymbol` `MachineOperand`s. The only real way to test pre- and post-instruction symbol support is to use them in operands, so I ended up implementing that within the patch as well. I can split out the operand support if folks really want but it doesn't really seem worth it. The functional implementation of pre- and post-instruction symbols is now *completely trivial*. Two tiny bits of code in the (misnamed) AsmPrinter. It should be completely target independent as well. We emit these exactly the same way as we emit basic block labels. Most of the code here is to give full dumping, MIR printing, and MIR parsing support so that we can write useful tests. The MIR parsing of MC symbol operands still isn't 100%, as it forces the symbols to be non-temporary and non-local symbols with names. However, those names often can encode most (if not all) of the special semantics desired, and unnamed symbols seem especially annoying to serialize and de-serialize. While this isn't perfect or full support, it seems plenty to write tests that exercise usage of these kinds of operands. The MIR support for pre-and post-instruction symbols was quite straightforward. I chose to print them out in an as-if-operand syntax similar to debug locations as this seemed the cleanest way and let me use nice introducer tokens rather than inventing more magic punctuation like we use for memoperands. However, supporting MIR-based parsing of these symbols caused me to change the design of the symbol support to allow setting arbitrary symbols. Without this, I don't see any reasonable way to test things with MIR. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D50833 llvm-svn: 339962

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | FailedISel MachineFunction property is part of the CodeGen pipeline state as much as every other property, notably, Legalized, RegBankSelected, and Selected. Let's make that part of the state also serializable / de-serializable, so if GlobalISel aborts on some of the functions of a large module, but not the others, it could be easily seen and the state of the pipeline could be maintained through llc's invocations with -stop-after / -start-after. To make MIR printable and generally to not to break it too much too soon, this patch also defers cleaning up the vreg -> LLT map until ResetMachineFunctionPass. To make MIR with FailedISel: true also machine verifiable, machine verifier is changed so it treats a MIR-module as non-regbankselected and non-selected if there is FailedISel property set.
