* [AsmPrinter] Make the encoding of call sites in .gcc_except_table ↵Alex Bradbury2019-07-171-6/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | configurable and use for RISC-V The original behavior was to always emit the offsets to each call site in the call site table as uleb128 values, however on some architectures (eg RISCV) these uleb128 offsets into the code cannot always be resolved until link time (because relaxation will invalidate any calculated offsets), and there are no appropriate relocations for uleb128 values. As a consequence it needs to be possible to specify an alternative. This also switches RISCV to use DW_EH_PE_udata4 for call side encodings in .gcc_except_table Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D63415 Patch by Edward Jones. llvm-svn: 366329
* Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth2019-01-191-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
* Reland "[WebAssembly] LSDA info generation"Heejin Ahn2018-10-251-3/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: This adds support for LSDA (exception table) generation for wasm EH. Wasm EH mostly follows the structure of Itanium-style exception tables, with one exception: a call site table entry in wasm EH corresponds to not a call site but a landing pad. In wasm EH, the VM is responsible for stack unwinding. After an exception occurs and the stack is unwound, the control flow is transferred to wasm 'catch' instruction by the VM, after which the personality function is called from the compiler-generated code. (Refer to WasmEHPrepare pass for more information on this part.) This patch: - Changes wasm.landingpad.index intrinsic to take a token argument, to make this 1:1 match with a catchpad instruction - Stores landingpad index info and catch type info MachineFunction in before instruction selection - Lowers wasm.lsda intrinsic to an MCSymbol pointing to the start of an exception table - Adds WasmException class with overridden methods for table generation - Adds support for LSDA section in Wasm object writer Reviewers: dschuff, sbc100, rnk Subscribers: mgorny, jgravelle-google, sunfish, llvm-commits Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D52748 llvm-svn: 345345

* [CodeGen] Change std::sort to llvm::sort in response to r327219Mandeep Singh Grang2018-04-061-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: r327219 added wrappers to std::sort which randomly shuffle the container before sorting. This will help in uncovering non-determinism caused due to undefined sorting order of objects having the same key. To make use of that infrastructure we need to invoke llvm::sort instead of std::sort. Note: This patch is one of a series of patches to replace *all* std::sort to llvm::sort. * Use assembler expressions to lay out the EH LSDA.Rafael Espindola2018-02-091-93/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rely on the assembler to finalize the layout of the DWARF/Itanium exception-handling LSDA. Rather than calculate the exact size of each thing in the LSDA, use assembler directives: To emit the offset to the TTBase label: .uleb128 .Lttbase0-.Lttbaseref0 .Lttbaseref0: To emit the size of the call site table: .uleb128 .Lcst_end0-.Lcst_begin0 .Lcst_begin0: ... call site table entries ... .Lcst_end0: To align the type info table: ... action table ... .balign 4 .long _ZTIi .long _ZTIl .Lttbase0: Using assembler directives simplifies the compiler and allows switching the encoding of offsets in the call site table from udata4 to uleb128 for a large code size savings. (This commit does not change the encoding.) The combination of the uleb128 followed by a balign creates an unfortunate dependency cycle that the assembler must sometimes resolve either by padding an LEB or by inserting zero padding before the type table. See PR35809 or GNU as bug 4029. Patch by Ryan Prichard! llvm-svn: 324749

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously the 'Padding' argument was the number of padding bytes to add. However most callers that use 'Padding' know how many overall bytes they need to write. With the previous code this would mean encoding the LEB once to find out how many bytes it would occupy and then using this to calulate the 'Padding' value. * [EH] Fix the LSDA that we emit for unknown EH personalitiesReid Kleckner2017-05-311-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We should have a single call site entry with no landing pad. This indicates that no EH action should be taken and the unwinder should unwind to the next frame. We currently don't recognize __gxx_personality_seh0 as a known personality, so we forcibly emit a table, and that table was wrong. This was filed as PR33220. Now we emit a correct table for that personality. The next step is to recognize that we can completely skip the table for this personality. llvm-svn: 304363
* Move most EH from MachineModuleInfo to MachineFunctionMatthias Braun2016-12-011-7/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Recommitting r288293 with some extra fixes for GlobalISel code. Most of the exception handling members in MachineModuleInfo is actually per function data (talks about the "current function") so it is better to keep it at the function instead of the module. This is a necessary step to have machine module passes work properly. Also: - Rename TidyLandingPads() to tidyLandingPads() - Use doxygen member groups instead of "//===- EH ---"... so it is clear where a group ends. - I had to add an ugly const_cast at two places in the AsmPrinter because the available MachineFunction pointers are const, but the code wants to call tidyLandingPads() in between (markFunctionEnd()/endFunction()). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: Before this change, personality directives were not emitted if there was no invoke left in the function (of course until recently this also meant that we couldn't know what the personality actually was). * Move alignment from MCSectionData to MCSection.Rafael Espindola2015-05-211-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This starts merging MCSection and MCSectionData. There are a few issues with the current split between MCSection and MCSectionData. * It optimizes the the not as important case. We want the production of .o files to be really fast, but the split puts the information used for .o emission in a separate data structure. * The ELF/COFF/MachO hierarchy is not represented in MCSectionData, leading to some ad-hoc ways to represent the various flags. * It makes it harder to remember where each item is. The attached patch starts merging the two by moving the alignment from MCSectionData to MCSection. Most of the patch is actually just dropping 'const', since MCSectionData is mutable, but MCSection was not. llvm-svn: 237936

* Classify functions by EH personality type rather than using the tripleReid Kleckner2015-01-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This mostly reverts commit r222062 and replaces it with a new enum. At some point this enum will grow at least for other MSVC EH personalities. Also beefs up the way we were sniffing the personality function. Previously we would emit the Itanium LSDA despite using __C_specific_handler. * CodeGen support for x86_64 SEH catch handlers in LLVMReid Kleckner2015-01-141-7/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds handling for ExceptionHandling::MSVC, used by the x86_64-pc-windows-msvc triple. It assumes that filter functions have already been outlined in either the frontend or the backend. Filter functions are used in place of the landingpad catch clause type info operands. In catch clause order, the first filter to return true will catch the exception. The C specific handler table expects the landing pad to be split into one block per handler, but LLVM IR uses a single landing pad for all possible unwind actions. This patch papers over the mismatch by synthesizing single instruction BBs for every catch clause to fill in the EH selector that the landing pad block expects. Missing functionality: - Accessing data in the parent frame from outlined filters - Cleanups (from __finally) are unsupported, as they will require outlining and parent frame access - Filter clauses are unsupported, as there's no clear analogue in SEH In other words, this is the minimal set of changes needed to write IR to catch arbitrary exceptions and resume normal execution. * Add the ExceptionHandling::MSVC enumerationReid Kleckner2014-12-191-6/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It is intended to be used for a family of personality functions that have similar IR preparation requirements. Typically when interoperating with MSVC personality functions, bits of functionality need to be outlined from the main function into helper functions. There is also usually more than one landing pad per invoke, which does not match the LLVM IR landingpad representation. None of this is implemented yet. This change just adds a new enum that is active for *-windows-msvc and delegates to the EH removal preparation pass. No functionality change for other targets. llvm-svn: 224625
* Rename EH related stuff to be more preciseReid Kleckner2014-11-141-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: The current "WinEH" exception handling type is more about Itanium-style LSDA tables layered on top of the Windows native unwind info format instead of .eh_frame tables or EHABI unwind info. Use the name "ItaniumWinEH" to better reflect the hybrid nature of the design. Also rename isExceptionHandlingDWARF to usesItaniumLSDAForExceptions, since the LSDA is part of the Itanium C++ ABI document, and not the DWARF standard. DwarfException served as a base class for exception handling directive emission. However, this is also used by other exception models (e.g. Win64EH). Rename this class to EHStreamer and split it out of DwarfException.h. NFC. Use the opportunity to fix up some of the documentation comments to match current LLVM style. Also rename some functions to conform better with current LLVM coding style. llvm-svn: 210622
