* [llvm-profdata] Add mode to recover from profile read failuresVedant Kumar2019-09-031-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | Add a mode in which profile read errors are not immediately treated as fatal. In this mode, merging makes forward progress and reports failure only if no inputs can be read. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D66985 llvm-svn: 370827
* [docs] [NFC] Removed excess spacingAlex Brachet2019-07-041-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: Removed excess new lines from documentations. As far as I can tell, it seems as though restructured text is agnostic to new lines, the use of new lines was inconsistent and had no effect on how the files were being displayed. * [docs][tools] Add missing "program" tags to rst filesJames Henderson2019-06-271-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Sphinx allows for definitions of command-line options using `.. option <name>` and references to those options via `:option:<name>`. However, it looks like there is no scoping of these options by default, meaning that links can end up pointing to incorrect documents. See for example the llvm-mca document, which contains references to -o that, prior to this patch, pointed to a different document. What's worse is that these links appear to be non-deterministic in which one is picked (on my machine, some references end up pointing to opt, whereas on the live docs, they point to llvm-dwarfdump, for example). The fix is to add the .. program <name> tag. This essentially namespaces the options (definitions and references) to the named program, ensuring that the links are kept correct. | | | | | | | | | | | Part 2 of CSPGO changes (mostly related to ProfileSummary). Note that I use a default parameter in setProfileSummary() and getSummary(). This is to break the dependency in clang. I will make the parameter explicit after changing clang in a separated patch. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D54175 llvm-svn: 355131
* [llvm-profdata] add value-cutoff functionality in show commandRong Xu2019-01-081-1/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch improves llvm-profdata show command: (1) add -value-cutoff=<N> option: Show only those functions whose max count values are greater or equal to N. (2) add -list-below-cutoff option: Only output names of functions whose max count value are below the cutoff. (3) formats value-profile counts and prints out percentage. * [PGO] Use SourceFileName rather module name in PGOFuncNameRong Xu2019-01-071-1/+11
| | | | | | | | | | In LTO or Thin-lto mode (though linker plugin), the module names are of temp file names which are different for different compilations. Using SourceFileName avoids the issue. This should not change any functionality for current PGO as all the current callers of getPGOFuncName() is before LTO. llvm-svn: 350579

Auto-detect NumThreads when it isn't specified, and avoid spawning threads when they wouldn't be beneficial. I tested this patch using a raw profile produced by clang (147MB). Here is the time taken to merge 4 copies together on my laptop: No thread pool: 112.87s user 5.92s system 97% cpu 2:01.08 total With 2 threads: 134.99s user 26.54s system 164% cpu 1:33.31 total Changes since the initial commit: - When handling odd-length inputs, call ThreadPool::wait() before merging the last profile. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | and/or tests aren't working on Windows currently. There seems to be some problem with quoting the file paths. I don't understand the test structure here or the code well enough to try to come up with a way to correctly handle paths with back slashes in them, and this has caused the Windows builds to be failing for 7 hours now, so I'm reverting the whole thing to bring them back to life. Sorry for the disruption, but a couple of these were bug fixes anyways that can be folded into a fresh commit. * [llvm-profdata] Add support for weighted merge of profile data (2nd try)Nathan Slingerland2015-12-151-1/+40
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Summary: This change adds support for specifying a weight when merging profile data with the llvm-profdata tool. Weights are specified by using the --weighted-input=<weight>,<filename> option. Input files not specified with this option (normal positional list after options) are given a default weight of 1. Adding support for arbitrary weighting of input profile data allows for relative importance to be placed on the input data from multiple training runs. Both sampled and instrumented profiles are supported. * PGO: llvm-profdata: tool for merging profilesDuncan P. N. Exon Smith2014-02-171-0/+29
Introducing llvm-profdata, a tool for merging profile data generated by PGO instrumentation in clang. - The name indicates a file extension of <name>.profdata. Eventually profile data output by clang should be changed to that extension. - llvm-profdata merges two profiles. However, the name is more general, since it will likely pick up more tasks (such as summarizing a single profile). - llvm-profdata parses the current text-based format, but will be updated once we settle on a binary format. <rdar://problem/15949645> llvm-svn: 201535
