* Reflow paragraphs in comments.Adrian Prantl2018-04-301-26/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is intended as a clean up after the big clang-format commit (r280751), which unfortunately resulted in many of the comment paragraphs in LLDB being very hard to read. FYI, the script I used was: import textwrap import commands import os import sys import re tmp = "%s.tmp"%sys.argv[1] out = open(tmp, "w+") with open(sys.argv[1], "r") as f: header = "" text = "" comment = re.compile(r'^( *//) ([^ ].*)$') special = re.compile(r'^((([A-Z]+[: ])|([0-9]+ )).*)|(.*;)$') for line in f: match = comment.match(line) if match and not special.match(match.group(2)): # skip intentionally short comments. if not text and len(match.group(2)) < 40: out.write(line) continue if text: text += " " + match.group(2) else: header = match.group(1) text = match.group(2) continue if text: filled = textwrap.wrap(text, width=(78-len(header)), break_long_words=False) for l in filled: out.write(header+" "+l+'\n') text = "" out.write(line) os.rename(tmp, sys.argv[1]) Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D46144 llvm-svn: 331197
* Rename Error -> Status.Zachary Turner2017-05-121-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This renames the LLDB error class to Status, as discussed on the lldb-dev mailing list. A change of this magnitude cannot easily be done without find and replace, but that has potential to catch unwanted occurrences of common strings such as "Error". Every effort was made to find all the obvious things such as the word "Error" appearing in a string, etc, but it's possible there are still some lingering occurences left around. Hopefully nothing too serious. llvm-svn: 302872
* iwyu fixes for lldbCore.Zachary Turner2017-04-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adjusts header file includes for headers and source files in Core. In doing so, one dependency cycle is eliminated because all the includes from Core to that project were dead includes anyway. In places where some files in other projects were only compiling due to a transitive include from another header, fixups have been made so that those files also include the header they need. Tested on Windows and Linux, and plan to address failures on OSX and FreeBSD after watching the bots. llvm-svn: 299714
* Move Log from Core -> Utility.Zachary Turner2017-03-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | All references to Host and Core have been removed, so this class can now safely be lowered into Utility. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D30559 llvm-svn: 296909
* Move classes from Core -> Utility.Zachary Turner2017-02-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This moves the following classes from Core -> Utility. ConstString Error RegularExpression Stream StreamString The goal here is to get lldbUtility into a state where it has no dependendencies except on itself and LLVM, so it can be the starting point at which to start untangling LLDB's dependencies. These are all low level and very widely used classes, and previously lldbUtility had dependencies up to lldbCore in order to use these classes. So moving then down to lldbUtility makes sense from both the short term and long term perspective in solving this problem. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D29427 llvm-svn: 293941
* Fix builds Windows and OSX builds after Connection refactor in r287922Pavel Labath2016-11-251-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | Switch various bits of platform-specific code to chrono that I did not notice when doing a linux build. This exposed a bug that ConnectionGenericFileWindows did not handle the magic UINT32_MAX timeout value (instead it waited for about an hour, which is close enough I guess). Fix that as well. llvm-svn: 287927

* *** This commit represents a complete reformatting of the LLDB source codeKate Stone2016-09-061-293/+267
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | *** to conform to clang-format’s LLVM style. This kind of mass change has *** two obvious implications: Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge effort. Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit, performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the merge for this particular commit. The commands used to accomplish this reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of the repository): find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} + find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ; The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4. Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of a meaningful prior commit. There are alternatives available that will attempt to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit. YMMV. llvm-svn: 280751
* Unicode support on Win32.Zachary Turner2016-03-221-1/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Win32 API calls that are Unicode aware require wide character strings, but LLDB uses UTF8 everywhere. This patch does conversions wherever necessary when passing strings into and out of Win32 API calls. * Fix warnings generated by clang-cl.Zachary Turner2015-04-021-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | There were a couple of real bugs here regarding error checking and signed/unsigned comparisons, but mostly these were just noise. There was one class of bugs fixed here which is particularly annoying, dealing with MSVC's non-standard behavior regarding the underlying type of enums. See the comment in lldb-enumerations.h for details. In short, from now on please use FLAGS_ENUM and FLAGS_ANONYMOUS_ENUM when defining enums which contain values larger than can fit into a signed integer. llvm-svn: 233943

* Fix warnings found with clang-cl.Zachary Turner2015-02-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Earlier this week I was able to get clang-cl on Windows to be able to self host. This opened the door to being able to get a whole new slew of warnings for the Windows build. This patch fixes all of the warnings, many of which were real bugs. llvm-svn: 230522
* Added Connection::GetURI()Vince Harron2015-01-171-0/+8

* Fix deadlock in Python one-line execution.Zachary Turner2014-10-081-3/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Python one-line execution was using ConnectionFileDescriptor to do a non-blocking read against a pipe. This won't work on Windows, as CFD is implemented using select(), and select() only works with sockets on Windows. The solution is to use ConnectionGenericFile on Windows, which uses the native API to do overlapped I/O on the pipe. This in turn requires re-implementing Host::Pipe on Windows using native OS handles instead of the more portable _pipe CRT api.
