* Rework the traversal of Objective-C categories and extensions toDouglas Gregor2013-01-161-9/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | consider (sub)module visibility. The bulk of this change replaces myriad hand-rolled loops over the linked list of Objective-C categories/extensions attached to an interface declaration with loops using one of the four new category iterator kinds: visible_categories_iterator: Iterates over all visible categories and extensions, hiding any that have their "hidden" bit set. This is by far the most commonly used iterator. known_categories_iterator: Iterates over all categories and extensions, ignoring the "hidden" bit. This tends to be used for redeclaration-like traversals. visible_extensions_iterator: Iterates over all visible extensions, hiding any that have their "hidden" bit set. known_extensions_iterator: Iterates over all extensions, whether they are visible to normal name lookup or not. The effect of this change is that any uses of the visible_ iterators will respect module-import visibility. See the new tests for examples. Note that the old accessors for categories and extensions are gone; there are *Raw() forms for some of them, for those (few) areas of the compiler that have to manipulate the linked list of categories directly. This is generally discouraged. Part two of <rdar://problem/10634711>. llvm-svn: 172665

* Add pnaclcall convention to Native Client targets.Derek Schuff2012-10-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Because PNaCl bitcode must be target-independent, it uses some different bitcode representations from other targets (e.g. byval and sret for structures). This means that without additional type information, it cannot meet some native ABI requirements for some targets (e.g. passing structures containing unions by value on x86-64). To allow generation of code which uses the correct native ABIs, we also support triples such as x86_64-nacl, which uses target-dependent IR (as opposed to le32-nacl, which uses byval and sret). To allow interoperation between the two types of code, this patch adds a calling convention attribute to be used in code compiled with the target-dependent triple, which will generate code using the le32-style bitcode. This calling convention does not need to be explicitly supported in the backend because it determines bitcode representation rather than native conventions (the backend just needs to undersand how to handle byval and sret for the Native Client OS). This patch implements __attribute__((pnaclcall)) to generate calls in bitcode according to the le32 bitcode conventions, an attribute which is accepted by any Native Client target, but issues a warning otherwise. llvm-svn: 166065
* Rename ObjCMethodDecl::isSynthesized to isPropertyAccessor.Jordan Rose2012-10-101-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This more accurately reflects its use: this flag is set when a method matches the getter or setter name for a property in the same class, and does not actually specify whether or not the definition of the method will be synthesized (either implicitly or explicitly with @synthesize). This renames the setter and backing field as well, and changes the (soon-to-be-obsolete?) XML dump format to use 'property_accessor' instead of 'synthesized'. llvm-svn: 165626

* Plug a long standing memory leak in TemplateArgument.Benjamin Kramer2012-06-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The integral APSInt value is now stored in a decomposed form and the backing store for large values is allocated via the ASTContext. This way its not leaked as TemplateArguments are never destructed when they are allocated in the ASTContext. Since the integral data is immutable it is now shared between instances, making copying TemplateArguments a trivial operation. Currently getting the integral data out of a TemplateArgument requires creating a new APSInt object. This is cheap when the value is small but can be expensive if it's not. If this turns out to be an issue a more efficient accessor could be added. llvm-svn: 158150

* Represent C++ direct initializers as ParenListExprs before semantic analysisSebastian Redl2012-02-111-1/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | instead of having a special-purpose function. - ActOnCXXDirectInitializer, which was mostly duplication of AddInitializerToDecl (leading e.g. to PR10620, which Eli fixed a few days ago), is dropped completely. - MultiInitializer, which was an ugly hack I added, is dropped again. - We now have the infrastructure in place to distinguish between int x = {1}; int x({1}); int x{1}; -- VarDecl now has getInitStyle(), which indicates which of the above was used. -- CXXConstructExpr now has a flag to indicate that it represents list- initialization, although this is not yet used. - InstantiateInitializer was renamed to SubstInitializer and simplified. - ActOnParenOrParenListExpr has been replaced by ActOnParenListExpr, which always produces a ParenListExpr. Placed that so far failed to convert that back to a ParenExpr containing comma operators have been fixed. I'm pretty sure I could have made a crashing test case before this. The end result is a (I hope) considerably cleaner design of initializers. More importantly, the fact that I can now distinguish between the various initialization kinds means that I can get the tricky generalized initializer test cases Johannes Schaub supplied to work. (This is not yet done.) This commit passed self-host, with the resulting compiler passing the tests. I hope it doesn't break more complicated code. It's a pretty big change, but one that I feel is necessary. llvm-svn: 150318

* Implement Objective-C Related Result Type semantics.Douglas Gregor2011-06-111-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Related result types apply Cocoa conventions to the type of message sends and property accesses to Objective-C methods that are known to always return objects whose type is the same as the type of the receiving class (or a subclass thereof), such as +alloc and -init. This tightens up static type safety for Objective-C, so that we now diagnose mistakes like this: t.m:4:10: warning: incompatible pointer types initializing 'NSSet *' with an expression of type 'NSArray *' [-Wincompatible-pointer-types] NSSet *array = [[NSArray alloc] init]; ^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ /System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Headers/NSObject.h:72:1: note: instance method 'init' is assumed to return an instance of its receiver type ('NSArray *') - (id)init; ^ It also means that we get decent type inference when writing code in Objective-C++0x: auto array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"one", @"two",nil]; // ^ now infers NSMutableArray* rather than id llvm-svn: 132868
